Excellent video, Dave. I recently acquired a 355 in near mint condition. I took the shell off and lubricated everything that needed it. Runs nicely. Date stamp on the shell is January 1958.
I own two 355’s that run, but poorly. This “in-depth” repair series is superb, AND necessary, as this engine, although entry-level in design, requires the thorough efforts demonstrated in this fine video. Onward, Dave! 🚂
Dave, please consider producing an in-depth repair video on the AF Two Step Reverse Unit, as I have a few engines with this feature requiring maintenance/repair. I really enjoy your videos and I learn much from them. please keep them coming! 🚂
Thanks for watching and comments, suggestions. I’ve not possessed a two-position reverse unit that I can sacrifice so I usually clean them with alcohol, q-tips etc to the extent possible. Contact cleaner and CRC 2-26 on moving parts improve performance and response but unknown of long term results. When I can acquire a train with 2-position system that can be sacrificed I would like to discover if it can be disassembled.
