Honestly this mistake, and him doubling down on it over and over the whole game makes me question went anybody would think he's good. So incredibly stupid. You need to pull, on average, 5 dev cards to get 1 vp. Now knights and mono's are useful, but once he's got army locked pulling dev cards is clearly and obviously the worst way to get victory points possible. You can literally build 3 cities with the resources he wasted on those 5 extra knives
The worst part at the end was him saying "but the double pop wa good" no, no it wasn't. It was a garbage play that threw away a win. Not sure if that single time was enough to throw away his game, but him then spending the next 30 minutes avoiding cities and settlements at all costs and only pulling dev cards after he already had army locked.... It's funny that he likes to complain about other people stupid. Sorry Drew, you take the crown.
I lost to a bot one time. The guy had a fisrt pick 6 9 5 OWS plus an 3/1 port with 2 decent roll with OW. We cruched him from the start because we knew that we could afford to let him go, otherwhise he would crush us. We solo block him so much that he rage quit. And then we left the bot alone, but eventually, the bot crush us, prooving our point that the starting setup was so strong that our only play was to solo block him all the time
32:25 you need to be playing your RB here. It’s an available action and you get to protect your settle and plan for the one after it. You don’t want to be missing a settle spot here or constrained by an action card limit.
Oh man that was a close game brotha. Good try. I do think popping at end was risky business, it was either you win with it or lose no inbetween. I think if you would of just double settled you would of been able to use all the resources from then on to city. Still fun game to watch keep it up
You still got unlucky to lose, but guaranteed flexible (if super unlucky, wtf (1) 10!) production. Devs again were ultra unlucky without the utility pulls. Nice thought on the road play idea, I missed it completely in game.
I love the videos, but I must be honest. I dislike the edited 3 tile placement in the thumbnails. I would definitely watch more if the thumbnails depicted accurate settlement placement
I say you should have gone 2nd city. Pops are nice, but as you said, black couldn't compete on army. You would have taken army from him a few turns later no matter what.
Yo Drew! I have a request for your next name/challenge.. your starting placements can only be on 2 resources tiles (desert or coast). Name can be "edgelord"
I feel like you popped way too much mid game when the second city was a far.better option. You said yourself black wouldn't hold army so why keep popping? Also the late pop when you only wanted a mono or vp (you got second RB) was just not good. Unlucky with Devs for sure. And the one time you should pop to try for the high probability mono pull, you settled?! When the only chance to win you had was if you mono... The settle is useless without the mono at that point
Catan Pro gets addicted to popping
100% should have gone for the 2nd city. Your production would be insane and army was clearly going to be yours anyway

@@emaster01 This.
I've lost to a bot before in ranked. Insane production, got every roll, and there was nothing the three of us could do about it 😂
Needed to build a city at 18:23
Proved to be difficult later in the game. Should’ve taken the opportunity when you had it. GGs though

At 14:00 is it not the move to port for roads to the wheat port?
18:32 100% a city here. As slow as city’s are for the board you just get a massive lead.
pop twice or city!! city every time

There's a point you gotta stop popping and start building to hit 10 ... lol
hey i got a question. 26:06 looking at settlement at 4 6 11. could you build 2 roads and place a settlement on blues roads at 6 5 12 ?
You can't build there as there is a settlement 1 road away
Dude seriously asks himself "where did we go wrong" after spending all his resources on 8 knights.
Early game you had the plow to the 8 wood! 14:30
Wheat port is significantly better imo, more flexibility and sets you up for a potential road path.

Needed 3 knights for army and kept going for dev cards, you ended up putting a winning amount of cards into devs lol ggs
This was a good vid I wonder if you should’ve taken that 2nd city when u could have earlier
16:15 really should have been 6411 they all rolled the turn after and it would have given you another city straight up for 5910.
27:03 when you finish telling everyone what's being served for Thanksgiving
What a weird match. Hahaha

What are you playing the game on? Steam has only one map fixed for catan

Why not834 wood as there is low wood and high brick, great trade potential and sheep port, mosty guaranteed another sheep spot.
WHEN YOU HAD THE SECOND CITY IN HAND YOU SHOULD HAVE CITY because you did not have the ore so avalable.
Let's go!
I say you should have gone 2nd city. Pops are nice, but as you said, black couldn't compete on army. You would have taken army from him a few turns later no matter what.
The late 11's would have helped if you had the 2nd city. Still a great video tho!

Like, comment, watch
Yes it was a good game but hard to watch you lose with you standing and sitting repeatedly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So tense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's easy to say you popped too many times in this game but you got extremely unlucky with your pulls on those dev cards. Great game though.
Too many pops on this one, city would have been better in hindsight. GG
Pop obsessed lost you the game 😕
I don't think you overdid the devs here, just maximum unlucky however. You can make the correct decisions and still lose!
