As someone with a long traditional martial arts background, I find it shocking that every counter-knife technique taught out in the world doesn't involve inflicting immediate damage to the opponent. We all need to stop trying this blocking and trapping stuff and just hit the opponent as hard as possible! Friend of mine used to work part-time as a bouncer many years ago and had a knife pulled on him once. All he did was step off line, a single fend, and then elbowed right to the face and KO'd the guy instantly. Stop blocking, start hitting!
I'm glad we have UC content, but it's so sad that this isn't mainstream in every school across the world that teaches self defense.

This is great and with this natural immediate aggression back to the attacker sometimes you may find it actually shocks the attacker and changes the balance of momentum when he realises that you will fight back i understand not in all cases but i understand a little about human psychology in combat situations as i am ex British infantryman that has been in real life and death situations not knife attacks but the psychology of combat is across the board when an attacker sees that you will fight and are not cowering down it can have a big affect on them , like you say ia knife attack is just a terrible situation and its 50/50 if you will live so you might aswel go out on your shield anyway , but i also understand that for most people if not drilled properly freezing up instantly would be the case for most people , i love the realistic approach you have on everything coach 👍💪🙏 also i agree if someone attacks you with a knife you need to hit that killer switch asap amd forget being too tactical or blocking its kill or be killed end of .

Always a lot of people criticizing certain principles/techniques…
So what are you gonna do when push comes to shove? Hold on to your own stubborn principle? Fair enough, but what if that fixed mindset/principle doesn’t work and you don’t have any options? Then you are f#@*ed!
because all you do is criticize things you don’t understand, instead of having an open mind and making an effort in learning something new. Which might be useful.
But this is part of the world we live in:
Talk, comment, criticize, etc… without understanding something.
    Listen, watch, receive, learn.
    Way more valuable and rewarding.

Deze video is gebaseerd op de recente aanval uit duitsland. Waar wegrennen dus geen optie was. Mensen zoals jij moeten niet altijd zo stoer doen achter hun toetsenbord. Ga trainen man.

Its not stupid bro. 😆 in my humble opinion the spiked elbow (the block he used) can be used if he is left or right handed and if there is no hand available to wrap, grab the attacker's garment and knee the groin and run!! Get to a safe location, do a self triage (check for injuries, slashes..stabs etc). You should also invest in first aid training and take an individual first aid kit as part of your everyday carry,God forbid incase of an incident you can patch yourself up before heading to the hospital. Remember..you are your own bodyguard. I am sure senior instructor michiel will give you his expert opinion..i am just a student. I hope this helps a bit.

Somewhere along the way, largely thanks to the Gracies and their "superpower" art, lots of people have gotten the idea there is "no defending" against: multiple attackers, knives, or a tractor combine driven by someone on the spectrum because they're attack style is just too unorthodox. Yet, I can find dozens of people doing just that! Defending against all sorts of attack including sewing machine knife attacks. To say this is ineffective would be to deny the simplicity and brutality of the technique. It's a jumping off point for other defensive measures. And sure as shit beats pulling guard or just succumbing to the attack. But what do I know, I was just working as a bouncer and executive protection agent probably before you were born.
