  • Dave Lee and the Signal Snowboards crew are back tackling a new hybrid snowboard project that's inspiring on many levels. This month's challenge is to merge Signal snowboards technology and Crankbrothers Mountain bike component technology to create a new next-level custom adaptive snowboard customized to get a new crew of shredders on the hill. The motivation for the build is personal-in 2000, good friend and pro snowboarder Tim Ostler was paralyzed from the chest down in a halfpipe snowboarding accident. Despite maintaining an athletic lifestyle, Tim hasn't been snowboarding since. Watch as the crew build one of the most rewarding boards to date and, after a few setbacks, succeed in getting Tim back out riding with his friends on Every Third Thursday. We encourage you to push this video forward and share it with everyone you know! How cool would it be if this ETT finds its way into production. So, hit play and let's all Raise The Bar and give some serious thought to the Next Level Adaptive Snowboard!

This is the most selfless thing someone could do for someone in his situation. That system is badass, no two ways about it. Using your time, your money, your shop to do this utilizing resources not used for snowboarding to get someone who is disabled back on the hill again. That's what its all about man, good job and keep it up.

Oh my, my face is cramped from GRINNING. This is how to be really smart about how to be really nice, when your analytic sense and investigative fervor meet up with innovation, physics, and intellect all while being driven by Grace and the deep desire to extend oneself to nurture another's spirit. Amen.

I rode with Tim once before the accident. We talked about my planter warts we had at the time on our feet, the fresh snow, and just life. He is a real man and the fact he is still rocking on snow is awesome! Timmy if you're ever reading this, dude...see you up at Brighton or the Bird this season!

That's one of the best things I've ever seen! My brother in-law has been paralyzed from the waist down since the early 80's from a hunting accident (arrow to the back). Luckily he was able to go on years later to enjoy motocross in a different form, jet ski racing. It really means a lot to see you come up with a way for your buddy to enjoy one of his passions again.

It must've been so hard for Tim to give up riding for the rest of his life and now you guys come along and make him a board so that he can back out to the mountains and shred again. Snowboarding has a strong sense of community and that's what inspires things like this. Good job guys!

This video makes me remember those days fondly as well as feel inspired by the amazing thing that Signal did for Ostler.

Dave Lee does it again! I just purchased a signal, happy to support great people and US made products. I work and ride at Sunday River, I love seeing, riding and chatting with all the dudes from Maine adaptive. Some of those guys really rip it up. Totally awesome. As for a few of the comments below. Snowboarders at least East Coast snowboarders have nothing against skiers until we get hate for riding a single plank. Those tend to be older arrogant skiers. Ah I love riding, if you ski, great, see you on the hill. Just enjoy whatever it is you do. And the dude making comments on crank brothers, really you think this is the place for that? Grow some already.
