How could you possibly be naive enough to discount the Iranians having a nuke? Before the UN nuclear inspection team got barred from the Iranian facilities they recorded its production having enough fissile uranium material to make multiple bombs.
Remember when Israel did their operation in 2018 and discovered they never stopped? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

@@tygooch We've seen that in Ukraine though. They gave away their nukes, didn't join NATO and retained their soviet style cronyism for far too long. Looked like an easy target for Russia.
Trita is hardly an intellect and lobbies for the Iranian regime. Reason, do you actually expect us to take your guest seriously?
Does anyone actually believe that Iran hasnt been working on it's nuclear program since before the Iran Deal?
They likely have the Saudis are probably building out their own logistics to do it too or making A deal to buy nukes from Pakistan or China.
@@AKlover exactly, while they haven't done the conventional testing like most new nuclear powers, they def have been farming out some of it to Pakistan and/or China and then doing their own R&R.
They may want it, but they don't have it. Israel has assassinated some of their nuclear physicists. US and Israeli intelligence is good enough to know if they have that capability.
@@AKlover Yea, Trump probably sold them info on how to make nucs.
@@infinitemonkey917 our intelligence is good, but if you remember 2018 when Israel went into Iran discovered that their program was pretty far along.

Well that exchange was...reasonable.
A 2016 Reason article explained the subsidy received by the military-industrial complex in the form of an aid package for Israel.
Getting rid of Hamas would be the best for the world.
He says don't bomb civilians, thats why its imperative that Egpyt allows them to come and stay close.
Israel wants civilians out of the way, but Hamas is bombing roads leading out, Hamas is paying people to stay.
Egypt's President won't even meet with Biden. Egypt will send aid to the Palestinians, but they won't allow the Palestinians into their country because they know that Israel will close the border and not allow them to return.
I'm always astonished to see human rights groups demand that Israel rescind its evacuation order claiming that it's a human rights violation. We know that Israel will be invading Gaza, and if civilians stay in the areas where there's an evacuation order, it will almost definitely spell their death. It almost seems that human rights group want Israel to kill innocent civilians so that they can keep bashing Israel of "violating human rights." Are these groups just stupid?
Hamas is not controlling the West Bank, and Palestinians are still being killed by settlers and their lands confiscated. What is your response? Is it still Hamas's responsibility or is it just the Palestinians who are the problem?
@@NasserAljoudi92 Pretty sure the conversation is about the Gaza Strip and Hamas right now.
the Gazan border has been unchanged since 1948 as there has been no settlements.

We shouldn't care what any foreigner or dual citizen thinks.
@@johnonymous1592 Parsi
Trita Parsi's style of argumentation is extremely deceptive or naive. When asked plainly "What Should Israel Do?" he instead simply says to not do bad things or sacrifice anything. No one wants innocents to be hurt. This man doesn't seem to understand that not all situations have a perfect solution. Rather he must come to realize that there are trade-offs.
He offers no solutions or trade-offs, only condemnation. Nothing more than intellectual paralysis.
He also falsely equivocates a blockade to an occupation. Israel does not occupy Gaza and hasn't since 2005. For all intents and purposes, there IS a Palestinian state, one run by Hamas. The only reason the blockade is in place is because Hamas made it absolutely clear day 1 that they had no interest in a peaceful solution. They have made this SO clear in their official statements and actions that I legitimately cannot understand why so many people seem to think they would acknowledge a 2-state solution.
The Israelis for their part have at least agreed to proposed 2-state solutions in the past. That's not looking likely now. Israel giving literally any ground at this point increases the threat to the safety of their citizenry.
The answer is obvious. If Israel wanted to cut down on innocents killed, they'd send in the army and special forces to clear hamas out house to house. They wont do that though because that would mean israeli soldiers die, and they'd rather kill a hundred palestinian babies than loose a single Israeli.
Yeah he’s extremely deceptive “you can’t eliminate Hamas” that like saying “you can’t eliminate the NAZI government” or “you can’t eliminate Tojo’s government”. It’s just a question of if you have the ability, and the balls to see it through.
He has ties to the Iranian regime. He is dishonest.
@@GoFlyThatKite No, it's more like saying "you can't eliminate the communists". Because unlike the Nazi's or "Tojo's government" (whatever the hell you mean by that) communism is an idea, not a political party. Hamas is a manifestation of an idea, shared by around 2 billion Muslims. There is no way you are going to kill them all.
Well, nobody went to negotiate with Japanese Empire until the end of second world war..! But at the end, Japan and USA not just normalized their relationships, they have become great allies too. Japan started the war against USA by attacking Pearl Harbor and USA end that war by bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki. That final hit not just destroy the military capabilities of Japan, it completely destroyed the ego of Japanese Empire which was the driven force of their warmongering campaigns during the second world war. Negotiations are good, but it's only practicable when the most egoistic group overcome their ego by themselves or by force the other group. This is not about the oppressor and oppressed people. It's about the ability of accepting each other as fellow human beings.
Worked with Germany as well.
And in the past, there was so much blood shed in Europe, and land taken. In the end, people must move on and prioritize their own happiness over the destruction of others.
It's none of our business.
So long as there is strong motivation on either side to avoid a two-state solution, there will be bloodshed. And history shows that for most of the history of the issue, the blame is squarely on the PLO for rejecting all offers for a Palestinian state.
One side has never accepted a teo state solution and never will
@@MrKangdon Israel has presented a 2 state solution multiple times.
The Palestinian leadership's strategy is to try to shift public and international opinion against Israel to undermine their security and eventually destroy the state. And then they cry foul when Israel says "ok, so you don't want to protect yourselves against settlements? Fine by us..."@@MrKangdon
Sure. A 2 state solution where israel gets the majority of the land and overall authority. How convenient
Israel started it by settling the area again through war when people were already there. It was done the wrong way to begin with.
Do only people of Jewish faith live in Israel. Wouldn't it be less controversial if Ben referred to the citizens of Israel as just that? Rather then "Jews"?

Israel is an explicitly ethno-nationalist state. It is literally in their constitution.
it's odd to me that the ReasonTV coverage on this issue has featured rhetorical stances on part of its hosts that have often seemed sympathetic to hawkishness. "Iran doesn't have nuclear weapons." Really? You know this, how?

It's kind of hard to take Reason seriously when they are evaluating what WAP boy says. He is just a screeching culture warrior.
Palestinians in Gaza elected Hamas as their government. They are 100% on board with their military action as they do not even protest against it.
I wonder why especially Trita makes such mental gymnastics to separate Gaza government and military from gaza civilians.
He also makes much too emotional arguments. This is not about "revenge", it is about protecting civilians. It is important to demilitarize the Gaza strip.
A regime change in Palestine would also be a fresh start and they could elect a government which prioritizes the wellbeing of Gazans over the destruction of Israel. And of course, they could always surrender, stop their attacks, release the hostages and extradite Hamas - I'm sure Israel would then also seize firing and be open to a diplomatic solution.
They are being bombed how can they protest it?
Is Trita unfamiliar with WWII and ending Naziism?
This guy is talking about right and wrong in relation to terrorists.
Not Americas problem.

Hamas has had their own government since 2005 and they refuse to give equal rights to their citizens.

The land that is Israel was on the losing side of World War II, and every last Muslim should have been removed from Israel, we see the results of not doing this in 1948. If India was going to be partitioned then the same thing should have happened there also.
Religion is often for simpletons and often for conservative ideologues, but society requires stability and religion often introduces stability. Regardless, it is genetically hardwired into 75% of humans, and it never works out when there are 2 populations in a country, and 1 of them has lower intelligence (which statistically means higher birth rates).
Witness the disaster of Lebanon. Christian and Muslim... peaceful. The Muslims outbred the Christians and became radicalized, the recipe for disaster.
Is that why the Nazis wanted to get rid of the Jews?
Hmm, maybe the Brits have been to lenient in letting muslims stay in the western part of their palestinian mandate.

99 % of the world agrees that Israel should end the military occupation and illegal settlements. Oh and that little 16 year siege of Gaza.
Then maybe Arabs shouldn't be attacking them and getting their asses kicked.
Imagine thinking letting Gaza do what Gaza wants to do a "16 year siege of Gaza."
Israel asked Egpyt to take Gaza back in 1978 and they were told to kick rocks.
Israel asked Jordan to take the west bank back in 1967 and they were told to kick rocks.
Both of these countries (gaza & west bank) have elected anti-jewish leaders with the sole purpose of eradicating the jewish faith.

Israel has wanted to rid themselves of the burden of Palestine since the late 1940s. The surrounding countries also doesnt give a shit about them, so their one country to have to care.
It's impossible to occupy land that someone else doesn't own. There is no Palestinian state because Abbas and Arafat don't actually care about solutions, they care about undermining Israel's legitimacy. If you don't own land, no one else can occupy it. @@evancarterful
