    Clint, I have followed your plus bike journey with great interest. I am glad to hear that you feel the 2.6 is a good middle ground. Your channel is fabulous...keep up the great work!

    Thanks for the review. I've been thinking about putting 2.6 on mine.

    I appreciate the review. I'm struggling on what to do. Agility is not my concern, it's more like rolling resistance. I have this exact bike and like you mentioned, the stock 2.35's are so good for like 75% of the trail riding that I do, but we have a lot of downhill and Chunk around here also and I find myself grasping for a little more confidence while on the chunkier stuff. Would be nice to run a slightly lower pressure for those wetter days also... I'm not sure whether to by a separate set of rims for swapping out, or go with 2.5/2.6 for all round use. It's tough to decide... I feel the 2.5/2.6 combo might be a bit much for some of the tamer stuff around here...

    Hi. Love your videos especially the one's about these tyres. Just wondering if you've managed to ride them in the mud and what they are like? Thanks

      +Mugtree nothing real sloppy yet. It's been pretty dry lately. But I'm still really really enjoying these tires on my trance.

      Thank you very much. It's always wet here. Glad you are loving the tyres. I'm looking to change from 2.4 Maxxis to 2.6 and see how that works out. Your videos have been very informative. Thank you

    Clint, of course wheel width will also effect tire width. Any plans to ride the trails in Moab? Would love to get your take on those.

    I can't wait to try the 2.6 tires on my Trance but that will have to wait until I need new tires the current stock tires have good grip. However I'm going to go with Maxxis.

    Hi Clent
    I have the 2017 Trance Advance 2 with original Nobbi Nic tiers
    2.75 2.35 front
    2.75 x2.25 back
    Looking at 3 different options
    Maxxis Rekon 2.6 for front or Maxxis Minion DHF or Schwalbe’s new Addix
    I am looking for more lean stability in the front but I don’t want to lose climbing ability either because I really like the original Nobby Nic
    I am in SoCal with mostly dry and slippery light gravels over hard pack surfaces
    I appreciate your feedback
    Thanks

    just installed a DHRII 2.4/DHF 2.5 on my 17 Trance 2 and found it rolled a little slower compared to my NobNics 2.2/2.3. Maybe it's just me, will test again next week.

    • @ashwinamanna2465
      @ashwinamanna2465 6 років тому

      I found DHRII and DHF to be very slow rolling in 2.3 size. Their treads are very aggressive which are great for down hilling, but it felt like I was pedaling with Velcro.

    Started riding after 10 jears...
    first.. You get me really confused witch bike i needed. because of the plus size testing...I end up with a xtc advanced 1 2017 27,5 full carbon..
    now I wanted to swap tires for the muddy dutch winter season
    from 2.25 to 2.6 on the rear(also for the extra demping).. and 2.35 front *(because of the fox sc 32) I think this is gonna fit.. the frame size is the same on th +size bike Right?
    Just want to say.. thx for all the great testing ,videos en inspireing people like me..
    From holland. Merry Cristmas and a weelie great 2018!!!

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  6 років тому +1

      +marco westbroek generally if you run different width tires you would put the bigger one on the front for greater braking power and traction. The smaller rear one will make a bike a little bit more agile.

  • @newttella1043

    Schwalbe tires always seem narrower than what the size specs say. Their Nobby Nic 2.2 felt so skinny compared to my old Specialized tires, so my next NN is now a 2.35. Again they seem smaller than other brands 2.35s.

Which equals migrane which equals animal scarer...Seen post on removing tires from rim by standing on tire pulling on handfull of spokes and pop tire off.
    Your on large Trance what's your height n weight (comparable propprtions when riding for viewer dropper post seating etc.)and are you continuing weight savings on your Trance...Anodized Bolts Titaniim ceramic bearing..better fatter 35mm carbon rims for Enduro Freeriders..

    Should checkout TruckerCo tire sealant if you're looking for something better than Stan's. Baja racers are now starting to use it because it seals so well. Stan is a nice guy and it's great how he pioneered sealant for bikes, but his ammonia based formula is dated.

  • @623hgh
    @623hgh 7 років тому

    I had a flat with my Nobby Nics 2.8 Stan's didn't seal either had to put in tube
    Patched on inside and refill with Orange seal. Hope it seals if needed

    Hey Clint what tire pressures are you running with the 2.6 tires? I have the 2.6 Nobby Nicks on my aluminum 2017 Trance 2 with boost spacing, but it came with the narrower 23 mm aluminum rims. I'm getting dents on the rim at 24 psi on the rear. I'm 180 lbs in street clothes. And I am in the rocky terrain of Colorado. I just bought new pair of the 2.6 NNs, but with the more robust Apex sidewall, hoping that helps.

    Could you test those 27.5 wheels, or the 27.5+ wheels on your 29er? I'm curious if it would be a direct fit swap and how they would ride. I'm looking to put 27.5 or 27.5 + on my 29er, to try to make it more playful, nimble. I just don't feel as comfortable or confident on my 29er as I do my old 26. I think the bike shop was a little eager to sale the bike and did not consider if it was a great fit for me. I'm 5"6" 150lbs, the bike is a Specialized StumpJumper 29er Medium carbon frame. Thanks, I appreciate your videos, good stuff!

    • @kyle618
      @kyle618 7 років тому

      I'm also 5'6 and about 148lbs and i was using a 29er medium but now riding a small 27.5 trance 2 2017 and im much much more comfortable in it. for a 29er, you would be a small.

    • @notyouraveragejoe7093
      @notyouraveragejoe7093 7 років тому

      Kyle Ang Thanks for the reply. I think a smaller frame might be ideal. I've got about 4k invested in this bike. To sell it at this point would be a big loss. I'll try to adjust the fitment as best as possible. Was hoping I could convert to 27.5. wheels, and that would prevent me from having to buy another bike.

    • @14manny24show
      @14manny24show 7 років тому

      You have a very similar bike to mine - Specialized Stumpjumper Carbon 6Fattie Med size, and I'm 5'8" 140lbs. I'm thinking about trying the OTHER direction - 29er wheels - why? Because it seems like I'm riding a lot more XC style than I thought I would be doing with this bike, and I'm wondering how much faster the bike would be with skinnier/lighter tires. I would suggest renting a bike with the wheelsize you're thinking of. I want to do the same, maybe rent a Specialized Camber with 29er wheels... I'm not sure what to say about 6Fattie being more nimble. I had a hardtail 26 before the 6Fattie, it rolled and was geared much higher/faster. Less grip for sure.

      I have a aluminum 2017 Trance 2 with 23 mm aluminum rims. Your 2018 likely has the same. I've run the 2.6 NNs since new. I have dented rear rim at 24 psi and 180 lbs. I'm going to try the Apex version because they have tougher sidewall. And I hope to get some wider rims too.

    • @evan4168

    people run too little air pressure..Thats the reason for pinch flats and other tire issues. For some reason everyone wants to run nearly flat tires. I have 2.8 and they work great.THEY also have plenty of air pressure which is why ive not had a flat.

    • @kayakutah

    did you have the same tire size on your Anthem?

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  7 років тому

      +31acruz I had schwabe Rocket Ron tires on the anthem. I took them off to put on some Vittoria Mezcal tires for testing. 2.6 tires would not fit on an Anthem. Later on I think I'll try a nobby Nic in the front of the anthem and keep the Rocket Ron on the back. I purchased The Nobby Nic for that reason but haven't installed it yet.
