Oh man, I sailed my 27 foot sailboat from Canada to nz in 1999. We stayed in the marquesas for 3 months and I shot wahoo and tuna out off that area. Where you are. A wee bit sharky with tiger and hammer heads about, but the best times of my life. Thanks for bringing back memories. I’m just getting back into spear fishing here in nz. You guys are inspirational!
Awesome video! Trevor K from Aus would have been right at home - looks a lot like the type of structure/species/conditions we get in southern QLD. Especially the mix of blue and green water. The Marquesean grouper also looks a lot like an endemic species we have here called a Maori Cod.
I believe you can buy test kits but they are expensive and not sure how reliable. Certain species are prone to it in the tropics. Best to speak to the locals as Ciguatera can come and go in areas for many reasons.

Ketchion dove for Aus in the comp, he has a short vid on his channel.
Hey I was wondering if there's a good way to find out if fish from certain areas contain ciguatera other than just by asking the locals?
