My dad was one of the Marines on manuevers exiting I believe a LST, just offshore. 12:27 He would have turned 90 two days ago. Mitzi passed a day ago & my father just after Memorial Day. Interesting noting members of his generation also concluding their time with us, such as Downton's Maggie Smith.
The book of the musical was written by Oscar Hammerstein II AND Joshua Logan. While Rodgers and Hammerstein gave him credit, they gave him no royalties, therefore no money. Rodgers and Hammerstein II stole Logan’s work and gave him no money.
But, I believe, this disparity was corrected when they produced the film. I believe Logan got in with a producing--and of course, directing credit. It's all explained in the new book, THE LETTERS OF OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN, II.
Favorite musical! ❤️
Thank you for posting! It's so terrific to watch this!!
All the publicity shots are on O'ahu. I recognize the landscape and Hilton Dome.

Yes then Oscar Hammerstein offered Joshua Logan a credit in 'The King and I which he refused, a decision he said regretted for the rest of his life.
