  • Long ago we lost contact with the Far Spinward colonies. now almost a century later the United Nations put together a fleet of ships to go look for them. They called this mission, The Great Mother Mission. 30 parsecs aways at the far reaches of colonized space, the crew and their small ship travel to their first planet to investigate.

    Good to see you giving building better worlds a spin. I mostly listen on headphones and the sound effects, especially the breathing, could be turned down / off.

      Sorry if sound was too loud. I try to get it right but some times the volume in my headphones is not what is coming out. I would never run a quiet show without music or sounds. Like a movie I believe they greatly enhance a movie, but getting the volume right is the challenge. I will lower for next episode.

      No the session was well put-together. A tense scene near the end, then finish with a problem to solve next time and a short chat with everyone's views to wrap up.
      I was surprised to see the derelict ship so early but makes sense considering the PCs.

      @@richardreumerman5449 Thanks! Many reasons why I put the derelict ship in their early. I figured Sezja already knew about them anyway. I wanted the tense horror of exploring a dead ship to set the game off, but not have it take too long. Kind of makes the party more confused also to what is going on. Soviet Ship. Protomorphs, 8 colonists left from millions. They have no idea.

      Thanks for liking it. Sorry about audio. Always trying to improve. And with updates i get conflicts with software some times. What about the audio needed improvment?

      @@omegaomtv balance and equalization between participants and ambiant music, audio input quality (some sound like they are in the bathroom), and lip synch (do you record audio separatly? If you use Discord there is this conversation recording bot: Craig)... best of luck, have fun with the best hobby of all times. :)

      Funny im listening to it now on my phone right now and it all seems perfect to me. May i ask what you are using to listen to this?. I do use discord for sound and i adjust levels. I use google meets for video. There has been google meets bug at this time when the vid lagged. There have been times when my software conflics and what is recorded is different then what I hear live, like in last twilight episode i did where the players were echoed, caused by windows update changing audio setting.

      I think I may have found the problem for audio to be bad on some systems. You mind seeing if this last episode sounds better on your set up.

    If I was here I would want to have made a private colonial marine who wants to do good in a world of horror.

    So we had our group go to the planet that was in the movie Pitch Black... as that movie could easily fit into the Alien Universe...

      Yes good idea, and especially if the players never seen the movie, you can mimic the whole movie. Special old failed breed of xeno's that hate the light.

    Ahhhh, aliens rpg. You would think with 250 pages of dead space and art work, they would have useful things like: pics of all their ships and vehicles, deck plans, new life forms on plants, deck. plans.maby a few more skills to cover things that make sense. Some differences in character types. You know, make the 50$ worth spending on, rules and a game. Not art work.
    If only their was a skill, that made sense to role to see if you can make out a person's intentions, that was not the same skill used to spot your cat... but thank god if you learned to hunt with a .22, you can fire a military ships rail gun with the same accuracy.

      I find it a great deal. the year zero engine is very popular. You do not want detailed useless rules to get in the way of a horror story. The book also has very nice Solar system generator in it, and the building better worlds expansion adds greatly to that. Be no problem to design your own classes and monsters too. I made a predator class both creature and Player character.

  • @madquest8
    @madquest8 8 місяців тому

    The rules are just awful. Nowhere near enough crunch and detail for me, has to be a hard pass. The Walking Dead is especially bad... the abstract combat just destroys any interest and everyone is basically the same. 3 hp and useless at everything LOL Just so bad.

    • @omegaomtv
      @omegaomtv  8 місяців тому +2

      There is way more to think about in combat in alien rpg then just rolling d20 every round. You play a game of alien you on the edge of your seat. Check out heart of darkness if you want more horror.
      Think you have to try these games your self instead of just watch. I played all those old games and these get rid of all unnessary stuff.

    • @madquest8
      @madquest8 8 місяців тому

      @@omegaomtv Unfortunately the so called unnecessary stuff is what makes the game LOL Dumbed down rules that lack detail are not for me. Hard pass.

      As a player and GM since Paizo first split I can say this system is significantly more intense. I would sell my left foot to WY to be in this one haha

      I don't mind crunch when just playing with friends, I've played a ton of Pathfinder 1e and ad&d 2e but for streamed games (both watching and playing) narrative focused rule systems I find are way better. I don't really want to sit around adding up modifiers on stream. When I pull a gun on someone in the game, why the character is doing that and what the consequences of pulling the trigger are more interesting to me than how effective they are at ranged combat. The more the rules can get out of the way and let the scene play out fluidly, the better.
