- My arrangement of Franz Schubert's famous “Ave Maria”. I tried to make a “playable” version without making too many compromises. Often this is played with a tremolo in the melody. It is very beautiful but also difficult for the average, or even advanced, player. I hope this arrangement will make many more guitarists play this beautiful piece.

Another version of "Ave Maria" is by the French Romantic composer Charles Gounod especially designed to be superimposed over the Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV 846, from Book I of J.S. Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier, written 137 years earlier.

Although a simpler version, as you mentioned, you play this beautifully, with wonderful grace and reverence, as befits the most beautiful piece in the world, Schubert's Ave Maria, written to honor the Blessed Mother.
Per-Olov.....your biggest fan in NYC. Luckily I stumbled on this. I can blow through your arrangement of Bouree blindfolded (took 1 1/2 years) but did it. Learning your arrangement of Air on a G String and this will be ordered next. Yes people, go buy Per_Olov's arrangements if you like his playing because you can sound ALMOST as soulful & spiritual as Per-Olov. And that's a blessing to anyone. Love you my friend.

I don't know. I like this rendition better than the tremolo version. Too many players power through with the tremolo and it sounds unsettled. Completely opposite from what the piece should be. Mr. Kindgren, you rendered the music as it was intended. Just beautiful.

I love Per Olov's version of Ave Maria. It is a beautiful piece anyway, but he makes me truly feel it. It has never sounded quite as wonderful as it is on classical guitar.
