Congratulations to Su-Metal being selected as 2024 female metal vocalist of the year by metalawards. Gaining an impressive 39.34% of the vote. Totaling nearly 100,000 votes in the 2024 rankings is a significant accomplishment. Here is the list of the top 5 winners!! 🏆 Suzuka Nakamoto (BABYMETAL) - 39.34% Tarja Turunen (Solo artist) - 19.45% Floor Jansen (Nightwish) - 13.51% Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy) - 6.94% Amy Lee (Evanescence) - 4.58% Great reaction to distortion btw as haven't seen to many do that on this one in awhile. Still a great collaboration between Allisa White-Gluz and Babymetal here. 🤘🦊
Hell yeah guys! This song has become a set list staple for Babymetal shows! Just remember though, if it’s not live, it is not Kami Band playing. And yes, Anthony Barone makes the drums so much better during the live 😂. The harsh vocals is the feature of Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy on the official studio recording. This MV was supposed to start the story for “The Chosen Seven”. This was during the time period where Yui stopped performing, but hasn’t officially left the band. Su and Moa were supported by 5 backup dancers (totaling 7 on stage). Ultimately, nothing major came out of this as a few months later, Yui officially left, and following year in 2019, Babymetal moved to the “Avenger” system with 3 rotating backup dancers instead. I hope you guys check out a live version too! 🤘🦊
Good reaction, but now you need to see the live. Download 2018 is good. This video and single were released in 2018, it was the first song in advance of the Metal Galaxy album and it was in that period when Yui was still a member but unable to perform, so this was the first video which did not feature the girls at all. They do use the visuals from the MV on the screens in live shows. For this version and live performances up until the release of the album the harsh vocals are anonymous. For the album (released October 2019) and subsequent live performance Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy recorded the harsh vocals as guest vocalist. This was the studio recording - the Kami Band probably not involved at all in that. For live performances of course both the Kami Bands East and West kill it every time with either Hideki or Anthony on drums.
FYI you will never hear Babymetal itself or any metal/music magazine or journalist mention this "award". Because it's just some website and there is literally nothing else to it.
@@Shoe-metalWhatever dude!! Always some jackass trying to take them down every f*** opertunity they get but WTF ever. If you didn't notice there are tons of other bands represented as well. If you need further proof here. How about the Grammy's as there was just a write up on them recently. Quite a good one at that actually. Not just another site now is it. They have also been written up in major publications as well like the Rolling Stones. So knock the bs and just accept it already!! The poll was quite significant by the way at over 100,000 votes. She got almost 40% of the vote. So that is still quite a good showing here. You don't make a good case but whatever lol. :/
The harsh vocals are a collab with Arch Enemy's Alissa White-Gluz. As for the video, it came out after Yui fell ill, and before she withdrew from the band. So rather than have two girls and a lot of chatter about a missing Yui, the girls were not included, except a cameo at the very end.
This song is definitely pre Barone. Since the MV has the studio recording as sound source, the drummer in this would be rather Mr. Drumcomputer. P.S.: The Album track has growls from Alissa White-Gluz. This MV is using the recording from the much earlier released single version, where the growls came from someone different. I remember this fact was somewhat contoversely discussed back then.
This was in an odd era for Babymetal which is probably why they're not actually in this MV or (mostly) in the Starlight MV as it was unknown whether Yui would still be in the band, and they were experimenting with new "Chosen 7" lore that never really went anywhere after this.
Actually some guy on reddit analyzed this MV frame by frame and there are two short instances where on the face of one the actresses a familiar birthmark can be seen. Su's little one on the left side of her nose. Could be a cameo or a weird coincidence though.
Distortion (2019) is one of the songs and videos from Babymetal's changing phase, without the brilliant Mikio, the guitarist (he passed away in 2018) and without Yui (who left Babymetal in 2018). I believe this is the reason why the girls do not appear in the images and are replaced by characters. For me, the songs from that period sound a bit melancholy and sad for these reasons. But always excellent, of course! I remember that the public expected Yui to return, which didn't happen. But, anyway, life went on and Babymetal became stronger again. The 2024 performances on different continents reveal the joyful and enchanting strength of Babymetal. 🦊🦊🦊
It is a collab with Alissa White-Gluz from the band Arch Enemy. She is doing the growls. Alissa White-Gluz has been dating Doyle from the Misfits for like 10 years.
I love your reactions and I really like the channel. I would love it if one day you took a look at an artist who has not yet appeared here on the channel, a Japanese duo called Yorushika. Musically excellent, with deep lyrics and wonderful instrumentality, like some artists from Japan, they also don't show their identity and in live shows, they use a whole game of light and shadow that makes everything very cool visually too. I recommend the live Yorushika - “Flower And Badger Game” and “Spring Thief” from Live Previous Life. And also the live Yorushika - “Walk” and “Hole In The Heart” from Live Moonlight. I guarantee you won't regret listening. A hug to you from Brazil.
This song kicks Ass live! “All their songs do” lol! I’m excited to see what they bring us next! There’s No way they bring in Momo and not make a New album 😊🦊. Have a great weekend guys!

If you want to hear SU ripping her vocals, I recommend "iine" live. 3 different styles in 1 song! It will blow your mind! See you! 🤟🦊🔥🔥🔥
This video and the one for Starlight came out during that awkward period where Yui was no longer performing with them but had not officially left, so the fan theory is it would not have been a good look to make a video featuring Su and Moa then have Yui return to the band later. The fact they held her spot open for such a long time is contrary to the myth that they are simply a "manufactured" band

@@rah2287 My fave did in fact win, but not a real award like the many you'll find on Babymetal's Wiki page, just some website poll with endless voting that pretends to be something it's not. See if you can figure out what organization sponsors the award (metal magazine? music industry group? something else?) and if it's news anywhere besides the website itself.
@@rah2287 He's got "metal" in his username and Su in his pfp. I don't think that's the issue. Su is my favorite too. The award is from a sketchy AI-generated data-scraping/selling website that let people vote over and over and over again, so of course the most terminally online fanatical fanbases would dominate. To my knowledge, it's not recognized as an award of any significance by the metal community. At least, the Nik Nocturnal Awards, new and tied to an influencer as they are, are a much bigger deal. Metal Hammer's polls are a bigger deal and those are just popularity polls that no one takes very seriously. Babymetal tends to dominate those too because we have a very online and fanatical fanbase.

Distortion (Babymetal song):-
"Distortion" is a song by Japanese 🇯🇵 heavy metal band Babymetal. First released as a digital single on May 8, 2018 to promote the band's Babymetal World Tour 2018, the song later had a physical 12" release on Record Store Day on November 23, 2018 by BMD Fox Records, earMusic, and Babymetal Records.
Babymetal singles chronology:-
•"Karate" (2016).
•"Distortion" (2018) .
•"Starlight" (2018).
Background and release:-
On February 27, 2018, Babymetal announced their upcoming tour, the Babymetal World Tour 2018. On April 1, 2018, Babymetal uploaded a teaser for Metal Resistance Episode VII, titled "The Revelation", which hinted the presence of a dark side composed of "seven metal spirits". The spirits mentioned were seen in the music video for "Distortion" uploaded on May 7, 2018, representing the Apocrypha of Babymetal, and the song was distributed to the iTunes Store, Apple Music, Spotify, and other music distribution services the following day. It was the band‘s first release since the death of Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka on January 5, 2018.
On September 28, 2018, Babymetal announced a 12" vinyl single that would be released worldwide on Record Store Day on November 23, 2018. The single included a live performance of the song at Download Festival as a B-side, and a Japanese 🇯🇵 limited edition included a jacket cover different from that released in other regions.
Moametal favors the beginning of the song for "lifting [her] up", as well as the interlude for providing a call and response with the audience.
The song was re-released as part of the band's album Metal Galaxy with additional vocals from Arch Enemy front-woman Alissa White-Gluz.
