  • From 1968 to 1971, Wayne Boyce served in the United States Army Security Agency. During his time in Vietnam, he flew in Huey helicopters, relaying the coordinates of enemy targets, resulting in artillery or air strikes being called in. When Wayne’s tour was over, he remembers the poor treatment he received upon returning to the states. We appreciate your sacrifice to our country, Wayne, and welcome you home! Thank you for your service in the United States Army!

I was released from G.Lakes Naval Hospital in 1970. On a flight from Chicago to home on TWA in uniform with bandages and dressings the person next to me in coach objected to me. The stew took me up to 1st class, and made me feel comfortable and welcome. I remember and truly appreciate all she did for me.

When I left Vietnam after 10 months, I was an Air Force weapons mechanic, I got a 30 day leave for my extending tour to 18 months, my flight back to the World as we called it landed in California. We were told to change into our civies, I just stayed in the terminal waiting for my flight back to Virginia via a stop in Chicago, it was snowing so bad the flight was cancelled so it looked like I’d be sleeping in the terminal. As I was sitting waiting for my turn to get off a flight attendant came back and told me the Captain wanted to take me to dinner with the crew, they took me to their hotel., got me a room, then told me to meet them in the lobby after I cleaned up and washed off my Vietnam smell and took me dinner. I had the best meal ever after my 10 months of C rations then the best night of sleep ever. They took me back to the Airport, no harassment in California, Chicago or Virginia. I ended up staying home for 40 days, then reluctantly returning to Vietnam, my reward for being late was being sent to DaNang for my last 8 months.😮

I’m a combat veteran of the war in Vietnam. I spent a year there and when I landed in the SF Bay Area there were no parades but nothing like this either.

The pilots armored seats had ceramic plates over steel. Our chest armor was a heavy ceramic curved plate inside a carry vest. 69/70 pilot. Be safe my friend
