You don't feel "something getting drained out". If the nurse is a noob and moves the needle while it's in, that you can feel and it's not the most pleasant sensation in the world.
I have to get my blood tested for a couple of times. I cry and get a panic attack. Then after the needle goes in I'm like that's it? Dang, it wasn't that bad

Well... I’ve heard from a few comments so here’s some tips! 1. DONT look at the needle. Looking at the needle will make you terrified and maybe give you a panic attack (yes it’s possible), just don’t look at it. You can look at a wall, celling instead. 2. Be calm about it, if you overthink it might cause you to faint or move the needle, most likely making you shake in fear. I have gotten a flu shot and I just closed my eyes, it didn’t hurt! Just felt like a ant biting you for 0.1 second (it felt much more better than a ant biting you actually!) I’m getting a blood test soon! Pretty soon actually, and these comments have made me a bit more confident about it! Anyways, I see that this comment was written a week ago, how’d it go? ☺️
i have a blood test tomorrow and i am soo scared :( Edit: it was so easy i didnt feel anything. The doctors did spend a while looking for my "petite" veins 😅😁. My skin is sensitive so i did bruise a lot and it hurt to move my arm for 2 days but that's about it. Nothing too bad.
Aaa I'm having mines tomorrow but I'm still a bit nervous and scared 😬 Edit: I was fine while it was happening. A bit nervous. The nurse who was doing it seemed pissed off she was talking to the other nurses while doing it. Idk she was angry at some guy named George lol. And then started screaming at me bcs she couldn't find my...vein?! When I got out I felt dizzy. It was hard to breathe and like I was half fainting like constantly. It was like I was carrying all my weight. Felt drained. After some fresh air I was ok again
Guys it’s not that serious, barely felt a thing when I got mines done.. I like the feeling actually I may be weird 😃 blood takes less than 5 mins, if you’re scared don’t look
I am having a blood test next week, and I have never had one before. I have had my jabs and they are not bad, do not hurt. But as you are having your blood from the vein does it hurt because some people are different with pain. I'm actually scared to have one. I do not mind the sight of blood. *EDIT:* It is not that bad. Does not hurt. You'll be fine!
BRO IM TELLING YOU I KNOW THE BLOOD TEST ISNT THAT BAD BUT EVERYTIME I GO TO THE DOCTORS I GET MAD ANXIETY. But when it’s done it like.....”oh.....wasn’t that bad!”😂😖
I was so dramatic when I got mine earlier. Crying like a baby, the people in the doctors were checking on me. I was very stubborn and it took 10 minutes of me faffing around and then I was just like. Just do it, I can't be bothered and I was fine. They took 4 vials and I didn't even notice!
The problem is my nurse skips the step to hold the gauze and just covers it and I keep getting bruises and bleeding through the plaster. But when I try tell her she tells me I’m too scared of needles 😂 when I’m perfecting fine with them.
Bryan holy fuck did that happen to you? Hell nah man hell nah. I got trust issues with folks but never even heard of that. Now I got trust issues with nurses everywhere
@@ukelsele lol not as dramatically as that. Some nurses can struggle to find veins, particularly if they're new, and this can make it uncomfortable. They basically stick the needle in then have to move around to get on the vein but it's nowhere near unbearable. When you see the needle it is soo small and thin it's not going to do any real damage.
Tips for getting over fear of blood tests like I was able to do: I used to feel like fainting at the thought of a needle or blood test, yet today I had 4 viles of blood drawn with no stress, and here's how: 1) watch videos of people who are calm getting needles like vaccines, so you will be able to see the needle without freaking out anymore. At first it might be hard to look at but you'll eventually get used to it and you will be able to see needles without anxiety. 2) Eat and drink if you're allowed beforehand, and bring water and a cookie to your appointment so you can have them when you're done. It will help you feel better 🙂 3) Be very clear with your medical staff about the fact that you are nervous, and suggest ways to make the experience better for you such as perhaps chatting with you, letting you lie down during or after, and tell them whether you prefer to know before the needle goes in or not. They'll be happy to let you control the appointment! 4) Close your eyes, take a deep breath, I find this much preferred. 5) It's totally fine to be nervous, no need to try to fight that feeling, it will only lead to anxiety. Instead, think "it's okay that I'm nervous. I just need to take a deep breath and hold still, and it doesn't even hurt, and I'm so excited to eat my cookie/see my loved one" - focus on what to do, and positive thoughts 6) it's such a relief when they put a gauze pad on top and press it down after. If you're worried your practitioner won't stick one on you, bring one of your own :) 7) Done already!! It wasn't so bad XD the more you get, the less you'll mind. Best case scenario would be that you have a friend or loved one to be there with you right after!
I have a fear of needles and I do not know why, maybe because of the pain or something, I kinda don't want to get to a blood test. But I am thinking of a way to remove my fear of needles, I kinda need help.
I always panic going in for blood tests, I'm fine once I get there, I get lightheaded when they draw blood, that's why my fear is there, I tell the phlebotimist this and he or she will lie me down to do the test, another tip , look away from the procedure, do not watch the needle go in, dont even look at the apparatus, lie down and turn your head away from the arm he or she is working on. This has worked for me, also count in your head... very helpful.
Why can't American hospitals have that band thingy with the holes in it. We have those blue rubber bands that they tie around our arm. It's very uncomfortable
Thomas Ennis Hi, these are fairly new in UK hospitals, they were introduced to reduced cross infection between patients since they are single patient use only.We still have the old style tourniquets with clicks but only use them when these ones fail; since the disposable ones do not put good pressure as the buckled ones you mentioned..
I just came from a blood test but they didint do it like this they just told me to hold my hand tight and they just put the injection in the skin and get the blood But I have a operation today so I’m having panic attack
I will never take a blood test. It hurts too much l. Sure I am only 13 and I have only had 2 but I am having my third and I really don't wanna take it! I need help.
Lucky you! I’m getting a blood test soon!!! And now that I’ve read these comments they are making me more confident about it! I thought it was gonna be a bad decision to see a video of a blood test
I have an irrational fear to needles. I was really afraid and nervous for my COVID and blood test. I had it today and it wasn’t that bad, but I still fear about it once the nurse or doctor is preparing the needles. Any recommendations?
Hey as someone who suffered severe anxiety over needles in the past, I suggest watching many videos of people getting vaccinated until you get used to seeing it (that's what I did). Then when you go in, tell the staff you are afraid and let them know what they can do to make it easier (example, let you lie down during or after, choosing your non-dominant arm, anything you want). Eat and drink before you go if you're allowed, and being a cookie to your appointment. I've had so many blood tests and needles since I got pregnant that it no longer bothers me anymore and I want to help others overcome this because in the past, I used to have some kind of panic attack.
You don’t need to worry about getting a blood test I cut my leg bad and I bleed like crazy but I had to get lydicane and it hurt like --. And I also got stitches 😂
I freak out how bad the nhs nurses are they just jab you asap and dont listen to you when you tell them my other arm is the last time it was taken and end up taking 4-5 attempts to get blood out. They do not know the procedure or ever use a warming pad or gel or tell you to hydrate.
I have had three blood tests the first two months of the year and I have hyperthyroid, I had never been to the doctor before this (I'm 15) I get so over whelemed when the needle is inside of me I start to shake my whole arm and the tube shakes so it is hard for the nurse and I feel really bad for them lol. sometimes I even twitch my head sideways like I'm an insane asylum patient. It is so embarrassing
It all depends on how skilled the person taking the blood test is. If they move the needle while it's in you can feel it. Usually it's nothing, just a slight discomfort straightening your arm afterwards and a bruise.
Thank you for such a calming and reassuring video. I have a severe needle/blood test phobia and have been getting therapy for it. I managed to watch the whole video today without feeling uncomfortable. Super proud and grateful for this resource. Let’s hope I manage to be ok on Friday for my blood test!
I'm completely unafraid of needles, but when I got this type of test today (13 years old). It was quite painful, felt like a screw going under my skin; I just closed my eyes in a 1-second mild agony. It hurt for some time later too and swelled ever so slightly and my father even admitted it to being painful, guess it's normal.
Just had another one today. I have a thyroid problem and I’m on drugs that require regular liver function tests. I’d like to reassure people but from my personal experience I feel so anxious to the point of palpitations and feeling physically sick….Every time. I faint about 30% of the time, usually when I’m really worked up. I nearly cried today after it was done but I think it was relief. It’s so pathetic and I’m not getting any better as I get older, I’m 31! On the plus side, Blood tests aren’t really that painful and don’t last that long, I think it’s more the idea of them that frightens people,it is definitely a psychological battle for me. Best tip is to spark up a conversation with the nurse and don’t stop talking until it’s done. Never be embarrassed to let them know you’re anxious either, my nurse today called in another nurse and she held my hand and we spoke about holidays and hair dye!!!!

im 14 and got my first blood test like a month ago bc of accutane.. if ur nervous don’t be, u cant feel it and if u dont wanna see the blood just like look away
I'm 17,and I'm terrified of blood tests, just a few days ago,i got mine done, and the night before my test i could barely sleep,i kept waking up,it was a disturbing, and on the morning i started to sweat even on a cool day,i started panicking as i was taken to the diagnostic centre, and i almost cried, but it was suchhh a relief after it was done😮💨😭 its alright to be scared of needles, its called trypanophobia and people often tend to have it,but nothing to worry about, they are expertised, and know their jobs well.❤
I've got mine in 2 weeks, I've had blood tests done previously and I find it easier to look because I can see that it is only a small needle. It's when blood squirts out that I don't like, which has happened before.
When the needle goes in Its just feels like a pinch for just a second But when it starts sucking out your blood, It feels like a bruise that you keep poking hard Honestly evrrytime I get a blood chem I want to do it again Xd
The cleaning of the vein, that is the process that just brings in all the anxiety and fear for me. I very much detest that part. 0:40 and 0:50 are my biggest biggest biggest fears
Why are are blood test vials in UA-cam videos always empty, but every time I have a blood test the vials contain clear or red jelly, beige splatters of fluid or a gassy substance? 👀👀👀👀
I absolutely can’t stand blood tests. They can make me feel faint or really sick! For me it’s not so much the needle I’m anxious of, it’s the thought of it going in a vein...I don’t like veins.
I have to have a blood test tomorrow Im TERRIFIED, I have needle phobia! the last time i had a blood test they had to prick me twice in both arms to draw blood! It was hell i wanted to die!
If anyone is scared please dont be. i had the first blood test i could remember not long ago and it doesnt hurt. you might feel a little prick but thats it.
In 2018 my doctor ordered me to do blood work but I put if off for 3 years. She said,``If I put in another lab slip will you do it?'' In 2020 I did it. Everything was good but my HDL was a bit low at 36.
I’m having blood work done this Thursday & seeing this makes me feel better about it; but a little apprehensive too. I think that comes naturally with shots and blood tests.

I suffer from vagal disconfort alot when it comes to needles it’s not my fault everytime I nearly pass out so for me its not the blood test its after
I will never take a blood test. It hurts too much l. Sure I am only 13 and I have only had 2 but I am having my third and I really don't wanna take it! I need help.
I did blood test in a different doctor and then it didint hurt just a little dot of blood and then my parents got icecream as a award
I have a phobia on Veins and it hard for me to go on a blood test AAaaaaAaaaaa😩😩
I'm having my first blood test tomorow and I'm TERRIFIED 😭
I'm high on hope how was it?
the needle is so small you barely feel it nowadays
I always liked to see how the syringe got filled with dark red blood. It's so surreal.
The blood test is not that bad it just feels like a normal shot
I'm going to take blood test tomorrow 😭😭😭😭
My question is can these detect THC?
I getting my blood drawn tomorrow
i like the music of the video can i have access to it ,please?

Have a great day.
Can you see if anyone has RH-null with the standart testing
I freak out how bad the nhs nurses are they just jab you asap and dont listen to you when you tell them my other arm is the last time it was taken and end up taking 4-5 attempts to get blood out. They do not know the procedure or ever use a warming pad or gel or tell you to hydrate.
Before needle:
I will edit this comment! After: after my needle
I just got a blood test
I have had three blood tests the first two months of the year and I have hyperthyroid, I had never been to the doctor before this (I'm 15) I get so over whelemed when the needle is inside of me I start to shake my whole arm and the tube shakes so it is hard for the nurse and I feel really bad for them lol. sometimes I even twitch my head sideways like I'm an insane asylum patient. It is so embarrassing
I feel like I might also have hyperthyroidism, can I ask about how much blood does the doctor take to examine if you have this symptom?
It all depends on how skilled the person taking the blood test is. If they move the needle while it's in you can feel it. Usually it's nothing, just a slight discomfort straightening your arm afterwards and a bruise.
Really lie Vmaki it's MD
Thank you for such a calming and reassuring video. I have a severe needle/blood test phobia and have been getting therapy for it. I managed to watch the whole video today without feeling uncomfortable. Super proud and grateful for this resource. Let’s hope I manage to be ok on Friday for my blood test!
How was it
I'm completely unafraid of needles, but when I got this type of test today (13 years old).
It’s so pathetic and I’m
not getting any better as I get older, I’m 31!
What’s the purpose of the blood test?
Hi Xavius Ballard,
Blood tests are used to determine whether your organs are functioning properly and help diagnose certain diseases and conditions.

It doesn't hurt until they move the needle around to try and find a vein Lol

I’m 14 and going to my first blood test this week because of Accutane too...
I’m so queasy when it comes to blood
I'm 17,and I'm terrified of blood tests, just a few days ago,i got mine done, and the night before my test i could barely sleep,i kept waking up,it was a disturbing, and on the morning i started to sweat even on a cool day,i started panicking as i was taken to the diagnostic centre, and i almost cried, but it was suchhh a relief after it was done😮💨😭
its alright to be scared of needles, its called trypanophobia and people often tend to have it,but nothing to worry about, they are expertised, and know their jobs well.❤
I've got mine in 2 weeks, I've had blood tests done previously and I find it easier to look because I can see that it is only a small needle. It's when blood squirts out that I don't like, which has happened before.
It's not a scratch...I felt it yesterday. It sucksss 😭😭😭😭 I don't know how some people can't feel it. They're so lucky.
When the needle goes in
Its just feels like a pinch for just a second
But when it starts sucking out your blood,
It feels like a bruise that you keep poking hard
Honestly evrrytime I get a blood chem
I want to do it again Xd
The cleaning of the vein, that is the process that just brings in all the anxiety and fear for me. I very much detest that part. 0:40 and 0:50 are my biggest biggest biggest fears
Why are are blood test vials in UA-cam videos always empty, but every time I have a blood test the vials contain clear or red jelly, beige splatters of fluid or a gassy substance? 👀👀👀👀
I'm having blood test tmrw for thyroid checking.. I'm dead anxious😣😣
It's really not bad at all. You don't feel almost anything and if makes you feel better, just don't watch..
I absolutely can’t stand blood tests. They can make me feel faint or really sick! For me it’s not so much the needle I’m anxious of, it’s the thought of it going in a vein...I don’t like veins.
Take it from me I get blood tests and injections every week and blood tests aren’t bad at all just know that the phlebotomists knows what there doing
How long does it takes before getting back your sickle cell blood test results
I have to have a blood test tomorrow Im TERRIFIED, I have needle phobia! the last time i had a blood test they had to prick me twice in both arms to draw blood! It was hell i wanted to die!
I want to know what does the doctor that do the blood test process call? And what major to take to become that? Like working in laboratory.
