I had the same experience. I saw it from behind the couch while my parents were watching it, and I was supposed to be asleep. I was fucking terrified, but mesmerised at the same time. We lived near an airport, and when turboprop planes are taxiing on the runways it creates a deep, loud buzzing noise that can be heard for miles away, and it sounds similar to this. When I was outside during the evening, I heard this and just about shat my pants. I was frozen in place, I couldn't move or do anything. I new it was just the planes but it reminded me of the tripods and it terrified the everlovinh shit out of me
