Here is my version of The Ventures cover of Lonnie Mack's version of Memphis, originally written by Chuck Berry.
on en apprends plus dans ce morceau que dans des milliers de vidéos Merci we learn more in this piece than in thousands of videos Thank you
It’s good seeing the views and likes go up in a short time. Congratulations.
Most excellent! 💖
be my guitar teacher for this next year, i want to learn it all.
I love what your doing. Simple, concise, no nonsense lessons. Would you consider ever doing videos, with tabs, on the standards from the 60 era ( doowop ) ( Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, to the 70"s think, Buckinghams, Ides of March, Grass Roots, CCR, Beatles, stuff like that? Thanks, and keep up the good work !
great....but I do prefer the Lonnie Mack original......and his guitar lines from bar 37 through to bar 48..... Love the Jazz Master guitar though. I play mine on a Jimmy Bryant Tele......keep 'em coming.
Does Lonnie Mack use a capo on that recording? His version is easier with a capo, especially some of those pull offs in open position with a capo. But then there are the sliding 6ths which can’t be done with a capo.
I could play some of the tunes you've kindly posted. thing is, I couldn't play them right. Every time I learn from your videos I find myself saying. "Oh that's how you do that". I've been a Ventures fan since Walk Don't Run came out, I was in the 8th grade. I don't like to request songs but I have to make an exception. Maybe someday you might consider "Gringo" Thank you so much for your time and effort.
Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it. I’ll take a look at Gringo.
Very few of your tabs are printable. Is that because of legal issues.
Happy to pay for them. A lot of time writing them down.
Good job!
Artis
So cool, could you cover The Ventures version of Grazing in the Grass next?
Hi Tom! Perfect early Bob Bogel/Ventures! Right on the button. Made my day! THANKS!
Thanks for watching!

As always, it was great!! Thank you for teaching us all these old wonderful tunes
What a Legendary number and what a legend you are Sir for making accurate Tabs available for us..

Lonnie would be proud.Thanks
Superbly executed bro. ..u are truly very sound technically. ...I think this is the best cover version of Memphis. ..tq again for posting
After hearing your songs this evening i had to sub. Your an Excellent guitarist!
Sounds amazing. Keep on jamming....
Hello Tom, Is there anyway to buy these videos for download. Im just worried that Im in the middle of learning and then UA-cam decide to remove Your videos. It happens now and then unfortuanetly
I’ve been posting regularly for about 4 years and UA-cam has not removed a single video.
Again Tom if you sold your tabs I would buy all. Have strat and Tele. Tempted to get a JM . FRAN
Very cool! Thank you Tom for doing this for us. Much appreciated!
Another great classic! Thanks Tom.
Super !
Ahhh - even more memories from my youth in 1963 when Lonnie Mack released this as a single (to be followed by his fabulous instrumental of 'Susie Q'. (I found your upload of that riff very useful). Both were and still are in my top 10 of all time favourite instrumental single releases. I was lucky enough and happy to see him play when he came to a small blues festival in Colne Lancashire many years ago.
RIP Lonnie.
Nokie would be proud Tom… excellent job!
Love the cover! Some crisp-sounding guitar!
Lovin' it!
Another great cover, Tom!
Would love to see you do a cover of Wild Child from their album Wild Things! I've had a lot of trouble figuring it out by ear.
Best regards
Absofuckinglutly nailed it. Reminds me of the second band I was in called the Road Runners in Stratford Connecticut you bring back some great memories. Thanks for posting.
That has to be the all time best name for a surf band Sir
You are a teacher congratulations greetings my friend
Amazing! Thank you
Excellent! Thanks very much, Tom! Much appreciated!
Super cool. You hit it out of the ballpark again. Wish I could get a PDF on the tabs. For me having it on paper makes it easier to learn a song and to practice from. I keep a 3 ring binder with all the songs I like. I would even pay for the PDF’s tabs if you had then for sale.
I would love to see you do Moonlight Shadow (the shadows version)
Fantastic. As always.
Benjamin Lumsden Thank you!
@@tomcon21 Ditto 👍
Awesome Tom!
This channel is fun!
coooool mate !!!!!
Nice! I want to start learning this. Could I get the backing track?
“Summer salt - one last time” please?
I have looked all over for an instructional of "Too Rock For Country" and can't find it anywhere. Can you do one of this song?
Nice job Tom but I wish you had done the true Lonnie Mack version (hint, wink, hint). ;)
Absolutely rockin’ Tom thank you ! Really like the slides !
Nice one , a Jazzmaster and a Jaguar are part of my collection , thanks for that lively tune .
well done great performance
I think you should check out The Panturas and cover one of their songs.
At the 1:03 mark, when using the D-minor shape to slide from A-minor to B-minor, for the A-minor, did you leave out the C (b3) on the high E string in the tabs? It looks like you're playing the full 3-note chord. Thanks. Best cover and tabs on UA-cam!
I’m playing the two lower notes of that shape (on the second and third strings) and sliding up a whole step and then playing the b3 on the first string. But I’m keeping that whole D-minor shape for both positions- only playing the first string after I slide into the B-minor
Tom, Memphis is just about the top of the mountain guitar tune! You covered it to absolute perfection.
Check out Lonnie and Stevie Ray performing this tune together!!
I miss those boys so!
Excellent. A loooong time favourite and now I can learn it correctly using my Hellecasters Will Ray Jazzacaster.
This hits hard af!
Are you playing the Pro II
Artis
Sooo nice! You did a great job breaking down this amazing instrumental.
hi Tom what do you set your action to? I hear it sizzle a little, is that part of the surf rock sound?
I have it set up to factory settings
🙂🙂
thank you Tom . love to buy the backing track .
Excellent job Tom! Sounds so good!
Thank you!
Brilliant lesson👌👌👌
Nice job , interesting differences between the Lonny Mack version and the Ventures. Ventures stayed pretty close to the original and added their own flair. They both sound good. You make it look easier than it is. Their both all over that neck.
Awesome
Go Lonnie😎
Great job 👍you really nailed the 1963 The Ventures original recording, Mr. Tom
Beautiful 60's rock! ☮✌
