i already love that area but had no idea about this test track! how often do they test engines there? im for sure goin there next time i visit pennsylvania
They test engines pretty much every weekday and even sometimes on the weekends when it’s busy. It seems pretty random as for what times they run but late morning (around 1030) seems to be the best time although they do sometimes run them in the evenings or at night.
If i could ask a question could i use your idea of the JTR but with me and my one friends name it would be MT then i would have to think of something to put after if not thats fine i just wanted to know if i could use the idea as well thank you again its ok if not
It’s really a ET23DCM (CSX gives loco models their own name). They are rebuilt from EMD SD40-2s with many parts of GE locomotives to make them Tier IV compliant. It is essentially a Tier IV GEVO inside the shell of an SD40-2 (with less horsepower).
Thanks! At the Erie plant, most of the new rebuilds are CSX CM44ACs & NS AC44C6Ms. A few CN AC44C6Ms have also come out recently but not nearly as many of them as the CSX & NS ones
I like them better than the SD70ACe as the radiator is all the way back to the end of the hood where the ACe radiator doesn't look right with the Dynamic Brake compartment at the end.
Those are unique for sure. I liked the ST70AH's but this is sorta odd. Honestly, the more annoying part is the model number. They couldn't have made it any more forgettable could they
That horn is so unique
These new EMD rebuilds are some (I'll just say) "unique" looking units to be sure.
Yep that’s for sure!
I agree they look pretty cool I guess Wabtec is the new name of General Electric while the new name for EMD is Progress Rail
@@TexasRailfan21-RailfanRyan correct ge sold the business.
@Dave6695 They never skipped squat day at the gym that’s for sure.
4:32 how coool is that indeed! i subscribed 👍
Very smart, the horns odd though like a mix of a steamer and a 3 chime

Sheesh. Older EMDs are so good that even GE repowers them.
Excellent 🔝✌🏼
Do more of these
Hope to see that csx paint sceam someday on the rails 1st engine CSX 1721
😎👍🏼
Is that K5LAR24 on 7276 a raised letter?
Not really sure to be honest
its a narrow font with a dead 1
Definitely a narrow font.
Is it an EMD loco that "defected" to GE?
Pretty much, it has components of EMD & GE locomotives in it.
it assimilated by GE!!
Actually Wabtec now. GE is no longer in the locomotive business.
hi jtr !!! thank you for the excellent shots !!! btw, what are the big drums used for on these engines ???
Thanks! I’m not sure exactly what they’re for. I know it is to test something but what that is I don’t know.
10-4 !!!@@JTR_Bricks_Railfanning
Very cool! Can I use this video footage? I would give you credit and a shoutout on my channel.
Thanks! Yeah that would be fine to use this footage
@@JTR_Bricks_Railfanning Thanks I appreciate it!

Yeah
@JTR_Bricks_Railfanning thank you so much would you like me to give you credit or a shout out on my community post?
What is a SD 23 T4
what kind of power plant does it have , and whats different about it?
I see a different raideator configuration.

The '23' comes from the 2300-horsepower GEVO-6 prime mover.
Wow! Really cool stuff. What other units is Wabtec rebuilding for Class 1's?

Where is this located
This is the Wabtec Test Track on the east side of Erie, Pa. The crossing is called Walbridge Road.
Cool
These are by far the Weirdest locomotives CSX has ever had.
Those are unique for sure. I liked the ST70AH's but this is sorta odd. Honestly, the more annoying part is the model number. They couldn't have made it any more forgettable could they
People in the comments acting like SD45's didnt exist with the wide radiators. Lol
Ugly radiator in the back and ugly horn, it’s like a wannabe GEVO. 😭
All of the new locos are ugly, and look the same.
