I'd like to thank and recognize the contribution of the large, imposing curly hair that has somehow affixed itself to Mr. Bavouzet's jacket. It's not getting the credit it deserves for the luscious tone, impeccable interpretation and delivery of this gorgeous piece of music! Bravo!
His Debussy has been very praised and I share this opinion, he is very good at it. Although I prefer Pommier, when playing Jardins Sous la Pluie, for instance. Be it only because Pommier was the first Debussy piano I heard. Bavouzet is the Winner of the Beethoven International Piano Award, and is also excellent in his Beethoven Sonatas. His sense of rythm is remarkable and his articulation the due one. He is part of all these French famous artists, as Aimard, Le Sage, Tharaud, Angelich, Couteau or Amoyel, or Ophelie Gaillard. A group of pianists one has to count with when going to buy some Classical Music or just chatting about this music. We have to be happy, we, the Music Lovers, to have all these pianists among us. This is kind of a new dawn for the Art of Playing Piano. 🎵🎶🆗👍💙
currently he is the best performer of Debussy (and Ravel) actuellement il est le meilleur interprète de Debussy (et Ravel) attualmente è il migliore interprete di Debussy (e di Ravel)
Remembering you from quad cities, you and yours always welcomed back. I live by the Figgy Artt museum my name is Diane Viager hope you are well! Beyond Extraordinary is right ,so proud of you!!!!!
I love this interpretation and the piano is so full! What type of piano is this? Steinway? a few parts of his interpretation are a littleeeee too fast tho
@@ElFilinColombiano-proyec-nq3oh Don’t see why the attitude was necessary. When I listen to pieces I tend to close my eyes. Anyway, that’s the beauty of piano, what’s too fast for me will be perfect for the next person :)
Bavouzet's interpretation is definitely my favourite, but I think that Giesking's is closer to what Debussy might have intended - a softer touch and a slower tempo - but this version is much better than Giesking's, in my opinion
I prefer Kocsis's Clare de Lune. He was a marvellous Debussy interpreter, and happened to be good friends with Bavouzet. But all those mentioned play beautifully 🎶
The best Debussy interpreter ever! His 'Images' are beyond extraordinary.
No one plays this piece as well. I wonder if he did the soundtrack for the last scene of Tokyo Sonata.
Couldn’t agree more🙌
The best Debussy's interpreter of our time by far (and of Ravel, too) !

“there are moon, water and live”, “it's a dream, and a dream in a dream”--by Bavouzen
Wonderful!!! Though I personally enjoy and prefer Gieseking’s lighter touch.
Très belle interprétation mais celle de François Samson est vraiment magnifique.

At 0:40 you can see that the make of the piano is clearly Yamaha. The timing of this performance is perfect for me.

@@soozb15 Koscis's is great too - just checked it out
Here's how Debussy played it: ua-cam.com/video/dsj3o0GoQPE/v-deo.html
Brilliant playing but I prefer this piece at a slower pace to appreciate the dreamlike state.
Tempo is a bit fast, but well played overall.
