At last! A Classical Musician who doesn't alienate his non-classically trained audience with over-complicated irrelevant technical jargon, even uses Emoji and One Who actually smiles and genuinely enjoys sharing his knowledge and perspective! Thanks, Man! "Echoes of Adventure" 🙌🏽😊🙌🏽
New player here (self taught, couple of months in and about half way through the first Faber book). Hearing Clair De Lune for the first time was the trigger that made me want to learn in the first place. I’ve watched a couple of your videos and even though I don’t fully understand all of the concepts yet I find it so fascinating the theory behind it all. It is clear even to me that you have such a fundamental understanding of your subject matter and I am grateful to you for sharing it. It really helps me when I am learning to understand “why” things work rather than just accepting that they just do, and your videos go a great job of this. Hopefully I will be able to “un-hear” the lord of the rings from this song though as i still feel the “magic” every time I hear it 😂
Perhaps you've seen the Lang Lang version which is over the top expressive and the video of Paris enhances, though I'm not certain that critics would applaud his version: ua-cam.com/video/fZrm9h3JRGs/v-deo.html
I'm not musically inclined but i just think i noticed something.. the chord your play twice at 5:21... seems like is resolves or has a neat variation of it (which is actually played twice in the piece) at 13:51 near the end? how come i never noticed this before..? i wonder why? and does it have any significance...?
Thank you for your performance. I enjoyed it. Technically it’s of moderate difficulty but it requires feelings of poetry and shades of colour to bring it off. It calls for musicianship of a high order. One must revel in the sounds themselves and dwell in their beautiful harmonies.
@@SonataSecrets i have one !!! My father gave it to me when I was 5 years... Now my father and mother lives with God but every time i played it, they are with me again.
Artemisa Sánchez. Bienes Inmuebles Querétaro. O, dear, how I understand you. Absolutely same with me. When i am playing I see my dead parents. I was played when I was a child. I had "Zimmerman " German piano. When I started again to play when mother died. It was September,2, 2004. Since then I am playing on my keyboard. It's so painful for me when I hear someone speak by phone with his/her mother or father. I am writing these lines and my eyes are wet. Stay healthy!
I came across this video while searching for Clair de Lune. I am currently working my way through it on my Array Mbira. Prob the most difficult piece Ive attempted on the Array. But I absolutely loved your break down of the piece! New subscriber. I look forward to watch more of your content. 🤗
You are the best teacher of music i've seen on you tube. I love the way you bring in chords into your description. I'm more of a guitarist so i see things in chords more as tying things together so as a beginner pianist you are the best. Thankyou for your videos Your selection is great as well
Thank you for the great video. I love especially your adventure chord description and the heartbeat section. Your piano has such a rich, lovely sound. I wish mine did too - would be playing Claire de Lune all day long!
Thank you for your work and sharing of your impressive knowledge of music. Your understanding of the music piece being analysed fascinates me to no end! Your use of emojis in conjunction with the music notes is funny and and playful.Your playing is masterful. I am glad to have subscribed to your channel.
Thank you Shahar! Well, I only have what is noted in the score in the video. I could definately provide the pdf with that to anyone in my Patreon community if they asked ;)
Hi Henrik, thought to check out your analysis of this amazing piece by Debussy before learning to play it. Your insights open up the piece to understand more of what Debussy was thinking when composing this piece. Thank you very much.
Thank you for the video, awesome analysis and playing as always I got interested in the lord of the rings score, can anybody point me to where to get it?
Absolutely fascinating explanation of the chords and melody of the sonata. Just a question. In measures 27 and 28, when you refer to the "Adventure Chord", isn´t it a E mayor instead of a A major?
We gotta love your work man. Your way of interpretation has opened up a new world for me, reminded me of the original reason why I played the piano. Thank you so much for everything, can keep up the work!

In 1905 Einstein creates the Special Theory of Relativity and Debussy creates Clair de Lune. Two beautiful contributions to humanity.
I love your videos partly because you bring so much Love for the pieces.
It feels like a privilege to be able to share the deep knowledge and obvious skill which Henrick so graciously brings to these piano masterpieces.
Absolutely love the use of emojis to show the mood of the chords 😉
11:48 that single B is my favorite note among all of musical pieces ❤️
The b that you press softly with your left pinky does the magic.
This is exactly what I was looking for! Someone to break down the song in a deeply caring way. Thank you!

The piano teacher we all would love to have.
Sometimes I forget how amazing this piece really is. Thank you for making this video which reintroduced me to Clair de Lune!
You are a marvellous pianist with English smartness! Thank you very much

Bravo Henrik, great work and explanations, thank you!! Keep going, greetings from Cusco/Peru :-)
Thank you very much! :)
Chopin would've liked this piece, I'm certain of it. It tells a story.
Analysis Paralysis: Just play the music and let the listener enjoy it.
Very captivating analysis! Thank you
Thank you!
Thanks! Is the fact that the melody ends on the dominant worth mentioning? Like it's not 'finished'...
Now I must learn both Clair de Lune and Lord of The Rings 😆
Thanks so much for uploading, beautifully played and well analyzed.
What kind of piano you are playing on, brand? It sounds just so perfect.
Thank you so much Luxi! It's a 100 year old German Rönisch. I'm very happy with the sound of it, and since the autumn I also have better mics :)

He is Swedish
It's a pity that the microphone partially ruined the final performance :/
Very good anyway
I think it is safe to say that nothing like this piece had ever been heard before in Western music, which is why we still hear it today.
This piece causes me to have trouble breathing, and there's nothing wrong with my lungs.

Thank you for this analysis! I am doing an report on this piece for my music appreciated class and this helped a lot, so thank you again!
Good luck with the report!
Who is the little man sitting at the end of the keyboard? ( Great analysis! I love your having the score displayed as you play.)

I just did wrote out these bars myself, so I don't know of any good piano arrangement for the music...
Absolutely fascinating explanation of the chords and melody of the sonata.
Just a question. In measures 27 and 28, when you refer to the "Adventure Chord", isn´t it a E mayor instead of a A major?
I meant to say E major, but maybe my accent is not very clear :p
