Really proud of you for doing so many new things and breaking out of your comfort zone! I’ve been dealing with an ectopic pregnancy while taking care of my toddler so it’s been a hard december for me but your vlogmas has been a little treat to myself at the end of the day to just sit down and watch and distract myself from everything going on. Tbh I don’t know what I’d do without it lately, so thank you for all your hard work with the daily vlogging and editing and for taking us to NYC with you 🥹
"The things that you want are just beyond the things you're avoiding and don't want to do and the things that might scare you." This is why we love you Kylie.
You have me getting all choked up! You should be so proud of yourself for facing your fears and embarking on this solo journey. I took my first solo trip this past summer. I went to London for a work trip during an internship (London is now my favorite city in the whole wide world) and over the weekend, I took the train to Edinburgh Scotland. It was all so unreal and I completely agree it is so liberating. Now, nothing is stopping us from seeing any part of the world we want to see! (Well, other than money 😂)
So proud of you for doing a solo trip. It really is awesome. Literally no one cares if you eat alone in a restaurant, see a movie alone, etc. No one cares. People travel alone all the time and no one is thinking about you, they're fixated on their phones. So just enjoy the experience getting to do what you want when you want with no one to wait on or compromise with on anything. It's fun!
Flight delays in and out of NYC are just the norm these days lol. I lived there for 8 years, and I think I can count on one hand how many flights left as scheduled lol. It’s also December, and it’s just a hectic travel month. That being said, I’m so proud of you for venturing out of your comfort zone! NYC is a magical place! I moved out there at 24 years old with a suitcase and some cash and built a life for 8 years. Who would have thought a girl from small town Arkansas could do that? lol. I love to see young woman finding themselves on solo trips!!!
Flying is such a hassle. Sounds like in your case, since there was a delay, the pilot timed-out so FAA says he can't fly so they need a new pilot. My guess is multiple planes were delayed so the on-site reserve pilots were already used so they had to call in an at-home reserve pilot and wait til he got there. You were boarded so that as soon as he arrived, everything was ready to go, rather than wait another 30 mins for everyone to board thereby delaying the flight even further. Ground crew, meanwhile, is hustling down there with all the delayed flights so that backed it up a lil more. Then, after all the delayed flights, take-off was now backed up, which happens VERY quickly during flight delays as things are timed out to the second. It sucks, but it's just how it goes. One delay is a huge domino effect that can easily affect the whole airport so in a superbusy airport like that, it goes sideways very quickly. But anyway, that's a lil explanation as to what likely happened. Airlines have reserve staff, some of which have to be IN the airport waiting for 5-8 hrs in case they are needed so they can just run over and keep things moving and then they have at-home reserve where they are mandated to be able to be ON SITE within 1-2 hours (depending on airline), so the on-sites get called first and if they run through them, the on call have to come in. Busy place like NY, you can imagine it may take a bit for an on-call to arrive at the airport, check in then get to the gate. They also can cut it pretty close so even a half hour delay can make a pilot or flight attendant time out and need to be replaced. It's not their fault, FAA says they simply cannot fly over the max hours plus must have X hours of 'rest' period so if they take the delayed flight but that means their rest at the destination is too short before their next scheduled flight, they still have to replace them. I mean, it's GOOD that it's required so pilots are falling asleep, but it sucks when it's your flight delayed. lol So many things can delay a flight too like catering was late, cleaning was late or found something that needed extra time, or some part of the plane needed a tweak, and sometimes they take your plane to sub for a delayed plane banking on a plane that's arriving to replace yours but then THAT plane is delayed or needs service so they have to scramble for yet another plane. It's a crazy world in an airport. It really is a miracle things go as smoothly as they generally do. Oh lastly, flight attendants/pilots do NOT get paid until the plane doors are SHUT so sometimes they board and shut the door just so they can be getting paid for sitting on the tarmac during a delay, and really I can't blame them for that. They are taking abuse, boarded everyone, made them sit, got all the carry-ons stowed finally, did safety check, counted heads, organized catering, and a million other pre-flight things and have NOT gotten paid a dime for it yet. Imagine that. Yikes. They can easily work an extra 3 hours with no pay during delays. Best thing to do is stay calm, read a book and chill. Making a fuss only makes them have to kick you off the plane, wait for your luggage to be found and taken off and that just delays everyone on the plane and the WHOLE airport further making people miss their connecting flights by the thousands. Don't do that. And if you're super nice to flight attendants and say hello upon boarding, they will go above and beyond for you with extra snacks and things. If you're rude, they'll ignore you if they can. lol They love Starbucks gift cards too so if you slip them one, you're their favorite passenger. lol If there is a seat available in 1st or business, they may even upgrade you on the spot. Pays to be chill.
I just have to say you make my day that sweater with gloves almost killed me at work I was laughing so hard. You are the only vlogmas I watch and I love it soo much!
Gosh Kylie I’m just so proud of you for doing this…and so happy for you! And for anyone else that is scared or anxious to go eat alone or even go to a store alone…I promise you nobody is looking at you or thinking about you. It’s all in your head. So just enjoy your life while you can♥️🎄
I am so proud of all you have done this year. Getting out in the world and experiencing so many things. Going alone to New York!! You are doing it!!! 🤗💕
Thanks for taking us along! What a fun trip. I love your message at the end!! I’ve been recently starting to do things without my partner or friends and it IS so liberating. I’m running a half marathon in 5 months & my friends and partner think I’m crazy but I’m doing it for ME. Sounds so silly but stuff like that i would have to do with someone previously, but i feel so good doing it on my own. Maybe one day ill do a solo trip toooo ❤
Total aside here, but I was just in that airport recently and was wanting to get that pizza but didn't have time. Fun to see you trying it! Thanks for your first impressions. :)
Never be afraid to eat alone! Ppl don’t know u, they don’t care, for all they know u could be on your lunch break at work! You’d eat alone on break at work right? Or they think you’re passing the tree on your way home…..they don’t think about u like u might imagine lol
What a fun trip! My best friend went to Spain alone this summer for 10 days and loved it. I’ve traveled alone many times, and I actually prefer it to having to deal with somebody else’s sh**.
Glad you had a wonderful time in NYC! Big cities are nice to visit... personally its just too much for sensory overload, Id go crazy. I live just south of Nashville, so I can only take a little bit of city at a time.
At least you got to meet up with Becky! So while the trip was mostly independent, it’s at least nice you saw someone in person too? If that makes sense? And! You went to so many stores I’ve been to too when I go there! (Especially the MOMA store!! I loved this vlog so much! SO MUCH! Thank you! Thank you Thank you! ❤🌃🏙️🗽
I think it's all flights being pushed back and just being shitty. I had a flight not too long ago that was supposed to fly out at 4am but was pushed back until 9am because of something that was supposed to be done the night before. My flight there was also pushed back by an hour and I wasn't able to make my connecting flight with no other flights for that day or the next, so I had to wait 2 days to fly out.
The flight was probably pushed back so much due to flight hours. Pilots are only allowed to fly a certain amount of hours in a day so the pilot probably couldn’t fly your plane anymore so they had to find a new one! I was in that situation before going to Los Angeles, but mine got canceled…
Taking notes for “in case” I have to use that airport to remind myself to choose something else lol That being said I’m so happy you got to travel like that. I’ve barely traveled in my life, part cause of severe lack of money, part because of me having very bad social anxiety (as an introvert) and mostly because from here there’s very limited chances even if I can clear my schedule enough as we used to have a decent cheap option to travel by a ship right off the coast of my city and it was honestly affordable adventure even if decided to extend it for a couple days. I am fairly simple traveler and I barely buy anything or eat at that point (two most expensive travel things imho) and I pack relatively light (couple changes of clothes & few extra trinkets) and apparently sea travel isn’t a problem for me so maybe as that I’d be more invested had they not closed the entire business from my city. I traveled with friends three times across the sea to another city and had 5h of land time and then another 14-ish hours back (it’s basically a 3 day cruise with onboard entertainment) but there’s always options to get one way ticket and stay in that country for two days and then take the next ship round back, there apparently were affordable options and if you traveled with a car even more as I’m sure parking and camping out of a car on a nice summer trip was pretty possible option (not for me personally as I don’t even have a license or car) but then pandemic came and wiped that away and I miss it. I managed one last trip with my friend group (basically 4 ppl) right before they closed everything down and my friend and her mom took one that got caught in between returning and quarantine announcement. And two years later they closed business in my country so now it’s either travel to next country to catch a ship to a different country or travel across my country to catch a rather untimely scheduled (also more of a freight ship for workers without entertainment programming or proper cabins to sleep) ship to that previously mentioned country from another route (and possibly few hours shorter) and have maybe even less land time and going back. And that is not affordable options anymore cause first option may be quite uncomfortable travel wise & second option requires more money and planning (you take 5h bus ride, rent a place to overnight stay, go to ship very early morning, be there for a day, return late night, book a place to stay the night, get on the bus back early morning and then another 5h ride back) So yes, now it’s basically harder to travel nearby and extremely annoying. Hope one day I can save 50k to travel to US. It’s one of my dream destinations to visit. Also UK one day would be nice. And Scandinavia again (but also other countries in that region not just more cities of the one I previously visited) and neighboring countries of course. But maybe not alone. Alone travel is scary even on a daily basis even to work and back. At least one trusted person must be along that road and a bunch of planning and preparation. Anyway enjoyed the travel through you.

Why are you putting the tape by your eyes? I’ve seen a few UA-camrs do it while doing their makeup and I keep forgetting to ask. I loved your big trip to New York.
me sitting here watching this in my satin pants, bedazzled corset top, and knit shrug.........🤣
Totally proves you are an Ohio housewife who were sweatpants 95% of the time and not NYC looks.

I go to New York once a year. Everyone there seems to be alone. People eat alone all the time. I totally agree with you. It doesn’t matter! It’s NYC!
I'm seriously contemplating on going on a solo trip top NY too lol
I'm glad you had a great time! You've inspired me!💖✨

I'm about to sit down and eat my breakfast...and this pops up. We love to see it. Perfect timing! Loving Vlogmas so far!! :)
Everything about your NYC big 🍎 vlogmas was spot on! The music, the places you went, your food, your hauls, everything! It made me miss home!

Flights through NYC, you need to be prepared for delays and bring water and snacks.
Claim satin pants and sparkly corset outfit
8:46 I seriously wondered if you were going to say something about that look. I thought the same.
Omg, so awesome you found the brushes!
omg please try Newark Airport next time 😂 the lesser of the 3 NY/NJ airport evils 😅

Seriously there IS a shortage of pilots. It's sad but true.
Kylie I'm so glad you had a wonderful time! I was worried about you honee, but I'm so happy for you!!!
Have you tried flying in and out of Newark?
Yes the brush set! Such fun Kylie! Yes what a great trip! Thanks for taking me along! I felt like I was with you the whole time! 🤗🥰💗🌷💕 Welcome Home!🏡
I’m hoping to go to NYC in April. Could you share your hotel?

✨manifesting✨ that you go to London next vlogmas cause it looks so magical at Christmas time 😂♥️🇬🇧
Just going to the bar at Rolf's is fun
Macy's has kid food near the kid stuff, pizza by the Juniors clothes, Starbucks in Contemporary clothes, etc.
Taking notes for “in case” I have to use that airport to remind myself to choose something else lol
That being said I’m so happy you got to travel like that.

So yes, now it’s basically harder to travel nearby and extremely annoying.
Feels like traveling to UK has made easier or at least plane travel looks possible yet it’s not cheap at all even if one can locate all the deals so US sounds like a perfect place to explore as it’s same country, no need to worry about leaving it and in general looks more convenient ways of travel than where I live so that’s very lucky indeed even if flight delays can become a nightmare on its own.
U really got me. When i saw ur 1st NY thumbnail i thought u wanted xmas spirit so bad that u took a spontaneous NY trip lol. Good one. Glad u went.
This looked like such a great trip! Congrats on the brush set find. I found them at the TJ in Honolulu in October but only took a carry on so I didn't buy them...I still regret it.
I don’t think it’s weird to get anxiety about the details/timing of everything when you travel.
I’ve had that happen while flying a couple of times. One time we waited so long for a captain that the other crew members technically couldn’t work anymore hours and we all had to deplane and they cancelled the flight. It was an absolute nightmare!
If you need someone to go to London with, I am so down!! I used to live in England, my fave country in the world ❤🎉
And just before Christmas she flys home with thee bling brush set 😱
I can’t believe you found that brush set!! Iconic. lol.
❤❤❤
for next time, you CAN just pop into the Plaza!
Okay what the hell, i had to wait for a pilot on my last flight.. seems so sketchy? Like how are they not there
You just know someone was googling 'how to fly a plane' at some point.
You’re such a beautiful soul!!!! 🌸🎄🌸
Thank you for taking us along on your trip. It was so refreshing. I’m happy for you that you not experienced so much, but how transformative it was as well. You deserve that. ❤❤❤
The brushes are EVERYTHING
Happy you had such a great time and took the leap. The bling brush set was meant to be yours 💖
You could totally DIY that brush cup!!!❤
What airline did you take?
I always fly into Newark because I HATE LaGuardia and JFK.
Proud of you. I hope I can get out of my comfort zones too one day,
Great trip! Glad you made it home safely
That was a great find with makeup set at TJMaxx.
The best restaurant !!!! I love it
Why are you putting the tape by your eyes? I’ve seen a few UA-camrs do it while doing their makeup and I keep forgetting to ask. I loved your big trip to New York.
It helps get a sharp eyeshadow/eyeliner line
I really want that brush set!! 😂
So proud of you for doing this!
Who’s wearing this? 😂😂😂😂
I’m so proud of you Kylie 😍
THIS WAS SO FUN
Proud of you!
Proud of you!
Which hotel did you stay at?

Now that you’re no longer there, do you mind sharing what hotel you stayed at? It looks so nice!
She mentioned the name as she was walking out of the hotel. It’s the Nomo SoHo.
