Kylie I don't know if you read comments or not but my husband passed away on June 1. I've mentioned it before and told about how he was on hospice and had started to watch you with me each day.
I've been so very depressed without him and everyone kept saying that I needed to go do something.
So I took a cue from you and traveled alone to NYC this week. I flew into Laguardia for the first time ever, took a shuttle to Broadway Plaza Hotel which was gorgeous, and did an open top bus tour.
I was nervous at first but thinking about how you went alone gave me courage to do it too. Thank you for inspiring me to get up and get to living again.
I had a great time. I missed my husband of course but I took time to just sit and enjoy the food and the city. It has helped me tremendously. I came back a different person than when I left.
Thank you again ❤
That's a bittersweet but beautiful story. The only person close to me that passed was my Dad, and he was my HERO. But I think it's fabulous that you traveled to NYC alone, because I myself would NEVER have the nerve to do that! I always have to have either my husband or a girlfriend or someone with me, even if I just go to an event that's a two-hour driving distance away. I know, it sounds childish & immature, LOL! But I don't do well going places alone, especially NEW places/events, I get so nervous & anxious. I live in MD; I'm curious where you're at, like how long did it take to fly to NYC? I've only been there once in my life, in the 80's. These days I'm not big on airplanes. Well, anyway I just wanted to tell you what a touching story you wrote and hopefully Kylie will see it & respond! God Bless & Stay Strong! ~LeslieAnn 😘
@@lesliedemarco1691 thank you 💜.
I live just outside of Gatlinburg TN. It took a couple of hours to fly there. Then it took my driver 2 hours and 5 minutes to get me less than 6 miles from the airport to the hotel because of traffic. I spent more time in the car than on the plane lol.
I’m so sorry for your loss! That breaks my heart. I’m proud of you for getting out there and living; God still has plans for you! ❤
@@han.nah. thank you so much. It has been the hardest time of my life but I know he would want me to go on.
I am so very sorry for your loss, but so happy that you took a chance and had a great experience traveling. That was a very courageous thing to do. I will be keeping you in my prayers.
Hang the hangers backwards in your closet and set a time frame, 6mos or 1 yr etc. Every time you wear an item put the hanger the correct way. Go back to your closet at the end of the time frame and get rid of anything on hangers still backwards.
Great idea!!
Oh....I love this!!
Yes this except do it by season! Cause if you do 6 months you won’t wear winter during the summer
i do this also. such a good way to keep track.
I would recommend Shawna Ripari’s UA-cam channel. I’ve been loving her anti-consumerism content and she has struggled in the past with shopping addiction. She talks a lot about making mindful purchases and having strict criteria for her purchases. (She went on a no buy for a year). I’d love to see you lean into this kind of content! I love watching deinfluencing videos about why someone ISN’T going to purchase something. It’s been helping me reevaluate my shopping habits and sitting with the discomfort of wanting something but not purchasing it, as well as interrogating the real reasons I want a particular item (boredom, mood booster, buying a sense of self, wanting a quick fix, etc). There are so many purchases recently that I haven’t made and I’m so thankful because they would have gotten declutterred within months with my money wasted!
During the pandemic I completely changed the way I shopped - I used to be exactly the same way. I sold so many items, donated even more and created a strict framework of colors, materials, silhouettes, etc. within what I actually like and wear. Start with the stuff you, super smart on. You don’t have to be “minimalist,” you should just love what you own and pass on what you don’t, and don’t spend mindlessly. Now for purchases, I make lists - for errands, there’s a list and we do not deviate. For large purchases there’s a wishlist with waiting times so I don’t regret anything.
I recently donated to a organization here in VA that provides clothes to women who need them for interviews/working out/life in general. I’m not super fond of Goodwill anymore. Love the thought of giving clothes a new life though!
Decluttering clothes is HARD! I try to look at it as getting rid of stuff could be someone else's treasure, and maybe it will brighten another person's day by finding a fun item and getting a good deal. ❤
Your collection contains clothes that actually fit your life rather than a ton of fantasy self items, so good for you on that point! Using the container concept to limit yourself is a great idea - if it doesn't fit you have to declutter something! I have made rules for myself to limit the inflow, such as no more synthetics (maybe a small percentage or for workout clothes) and also getting rid of those types of things. A year ago I moved overseas and was forced to do a drastic purge which was long overdue and I had to let go of even some things that I loved. It has been very freeing and I now think carefully before I buy anything.
Has anyone seen Boo since the bags were all filled? Just checking. Well done decluttering.
Proud of you not easy to do!
I did the same recently. Got rid of over 60 individual clothing items. It felt so good! Thank you for sharing. It is very motivating!
I'm so very proud of you; you're growing up, realizing stuff wont bring you joy, experiences and memories will❤🎉
As a survivor or the What Not to Wear era I am obsessed with blazers too.
OMG! I’ve JUST been re-watching “Hoarders” by coincidence. . and yes…this is so good that you did this!!!!
I love the decluttering vlog!
Wow. Fantastic work Kylie! I need to do that! There’s a bunch of companies that make quilts out of old tees. You send them in and pick the style you want. It’s a way to still hang on to memories.
I love getting rid of clutter in my life! We had to move once in an unusual situation, and ended up getting rid of most of our junk. Since then I've learned to accumulate a lot less, so the clutter hasn't really returned. I love living with less junk, it makes life bigger somehow. Well done, Kylie! Love the garden update, too. You have a wonderful family.
And I'm so glad you're vlogging again!
Kylie, I just cleaned out my closet two days ago! Wow it's amazing how much space I have now!
Having a stressful day. Your vlog just helped me smile. So, thank you.🙏
Something that helped me wade through the closet was unofficially getting my colors done. I was able to then focus on keeping the best items in my best colors and then some other things I just really loved despite the color.
I’m really proud of you, Kiki! I know it can be difficult (trust me I’ve been there). 😭 Also, I love how you decided to donate some of your clothes! I’m sure they’ll love them. (,:
I’m also a clothes hoarder, girl, I’ve got pajama pants that my dad bought me while I was still in high school (many many many moons ago, *many*) and I just can’t part with them lol but it’s so hard to get rid of stuff. That being said tho, I’m proud of you because I know how hard it is to part with stuff. ❤❤
I am obsessed with watching your vlogs, acre homestead, and decluttering and organizing... I feel like I found heaven today. Hahaha (I'm not including the massive amounts of Sims playthroughs I watch but we're all entitled to our nerdy niches)
Thank god the sublime shirt is staying❤
I had a really bad night last night and this is exactly what I needed this morning ❤
I loveee to secondhand shop and hoard and since i bought my first house 1.5 years ago, the amount of stuff I've accumulated is shocking. Thanks for inspiring me to purge!!
Also so happy to see you back after your trip/much deserved break!
Excellent clear out!!!!🎉🎉❤And yes, it IS addicting once you start to let stuff go! 😊That feeling of clarity comes to your mind because you have less mental space being used remembering all of your unused possessions.❤❤❤
OMG so glad your back I am not feeling depressed anymore lol
You should plant zinnias in your garden. They are so easy and beautiful. They last close to a week in a vase. They cross pollinate, so you get some interesting flowers by the end of the season.
I just bought my first house and moved 1200 miles away, and to minimize the amount of stuff i had to move, i ended up giving away SO MUCH STUFF. Probably 2/3 of my clothes plus just STUFF. I lived in my old house for 15 years, so you can imagine how stuff accumulated lol
I wish i knew a way that worked. I feel ridiculously stupid for keeping the most random of items.just in case.any tips that work??
@HandleForElleJay for me, if I hadn't reached for an item for a year or more, it went bye-bye. I ruthlessly threw stuff into boxes and took them straight over to donation centers so I didn't have time to go back and pick through them. My main motivation was having less stuff to pack and move lol because moving states is EXPENSIVE and the more stuff you have, the more it costs.
@@bobbii i appreciate you taking the time to respond.
I think that's key isnt it? Moving it out before the doubt can move into our minds.
Hope move goes/went well for you. How exciting a new move and new chapter for you. I wish you all the very best of luck x
@@HandleForElleJay tysm 😊 🫶🏻
Looks so good! I love organizing!! There is nothing better than walking in your closet and being able to see all the options u have to wear. I always feel like I went shopping b/c I find stuff that I didn’t even know I had!! 😂❤🎉
You should do acrylic containers so you can kind of see what’s inside so you don’t forget it’s there!
If you havent already donsted them, make a quilt out of your state/travel shirts! You can save them and send them to a quilt maker. My gma used to own a quilting company and she made the coolest travel or college/high-school tee quilts!!
I want the Draw the Cat Eye soooooo bad!!
I usually do a big closet clean out 2x a year. You've inspired me to get going on cleaning out my closet!
I need to do this too! Feeling inspired lol
Love love decluttering videos, especially wardrobe declutter. Im ruthless getting rid of things, i also am very picky on what i buy. I also dont like shopping 😅 BUT you neeeeeed matching hangers...... My brain 🧠😮
I am literally cleaning my closet along side with you! I am loving this video and you’re inspiring me to let go too! 😅
I travel ans move so much. I am really picky about what i buy. It is so refreshing! So glad your feeling this!!
A little tip next time your feeling you need to declutter but you dont have a ton of time or your overwhelmed. Dont take everything out of the space . Just go rhrough things one by one. That way if you need to stop you haven't made the area worse
Stopppp I had that same Maurice’s jacket and tried to wear it to my husbands work Christmas party last year and it literally fell apart on me!!! Crumbled and tore. Tried to just throw it away at one point and someone pulled it out of the garbage can “is this your jacket?” Yes thankssss 😁
lol! Fast fashion is great for early 20s only imo
I'm the Jessica from Utah. Love ya girl! ❤
Love ur content…and ur makeup is flawless…but if u have tshirts u love u can always use repat which is a place that turns ur tshirts into blankets…I had one made and I love it…it helps with the anxiety of getting rid of things u love❤❤❤
Girl do you have a Poshmark or anything?!
I love a good declutter!!!
thank you for posting this, it inspired me to go through my own clothing as i've been putting it off for months 😆
You should have a Poshmark and post all these clothes.
I’m very proud of you!! When you were getting rid of the T-shirts, I was like noooooo, that’s a good one😂
Great job!! 💜🦄
I'm with you Kylie! T-shirts are my weakness and I find it so hard to get rid of them! I still have way too many and I just did a closet cleanout 😩
Good job!! I did a little bit in my closet before work today.
Once you start buying quality over quantity, the more you love what you have and the less crap you buy. I just zoom by sections in most retail stores now. Not interested! Absolutely no “dupes”! A total waste of your money. Just my experience and opinion.
I’m finally getting there in my mid 30’s!
@@SnowyOwl1588 yes! It took me a while to get there as well! Now, all I see on the internet is buy, buy, buy and I’m like no, no, no 😂
This is the route I’m trending towards, but I feel like the difficulty is actually finding quality clothes anymore.
Any tips on where you shop? I am wanting to move past cheap, synthetic fibers, but I have no clue where to start!
My closet has it out for me. When I get the energy to tackle it, it’s going to be a war. 🤣🤣🤣
I think I might need reinforcements. 💜🦄
You can do it!
Whenever you wear that sublime shirt I always think it’s an amazing color on you!
After watching this video, I went straight to my closet to get rid of stuff! How many of you did the same?
0:48 first! I love your monologues 😊lol
Second my closet is the exact same and I feel the same about it😅
Ok, continuing on
I'm going through the same exact thing right now!!
Good job, Kylie! Where do you keep your shoes? Big coats? Are they in a separate area? Would love to see the shoe declutter! Oh, nvr md, just spotted the shoes - I would have trouble with them up so high, I start picking what to wear based on the shoes.
What do you do for a job aside from youtube? I'm so curious! You're SO inspiring, real, down to earth, ugh. Just adore you!
I've been waiting for this video. 😲👍
That’s sweet that you think of the garment’s future life for someone else! Whatever it takes to get rid of the hoard lol. 😅
where do you sell your stuff at? what platforms?
I do need to go thru my clothes and reset. There’s clothes that I don’t wear and some are too small.
Wish you were selling some of this online because I would totally buy most of this.
I've seen people turn their old tshirts into a quilt. It might be a fun craft to try!
Kylie if you ever get rid of that plaid shirt days flannel i will gladly happily buy it off of you ❤️
Kylie I might have had somehow more clothes than you! I just purged my closet cause I have a baby on the way and need to make room😅 I gave away well over 200 items to my friends and family and still have more to get rid of before my baby’s arrival 😅
"I want to invest in quality pieces that I'll keep" literally two minutes later, holding up a T-shirt, arguably one of the best-aging garments in a closet, "I've worn this too much".
Make it make sense.
i keep a plastic bag in my closet and routinely go through my clothes and add to the bag, when the bag is full i take it immediately to my trunk so i can take it to a donation center dropoff (sometimes the bag sits in my trunk, but at least it's on it's "journey")
Where are you posting the T Swift stuff to sell?
I still have my b12 deficient crew sweatshirt
If your shirts are worn out and not quality enough to donate you could always cut out the design or a piece of it and make yourself a pseudo-quilt or find another craft project to use them in. I had converse high tops from highschool that finally bit the dust and I cut the shoe apart to keep the logo for a scrapbook.
Ha, ha .. where's Waldo !! Cute!
I think if you genuinely don’t want to get rid of it then maybe just put this stuff away in a storage tub and wait for a month or so. If you haven’t thought about it or missed it then you know you’ll be fine getting rid of it ❤
Have you considered a depop? I am eyeing your get rid of 😅
You’re pretty. Also, great how much you got rid of.
Good job :)
The problem I have with de cluttering is what to do with it. I wind up piling it up in a corner and it just sits there.
Cleaning my closet out and found this 😂
❤❤
I am a proud owner of one of your b12 deficient crewnecks
A jacket from 8th grade!! 😲
I’d love to know where you like to shop for clothes currently?
Siri, play ‘it’s time to go’ by mutha
What about if you haven't worn it in a year get rid of it
hello kiki and how your own day and night going and have you thought about live streaming on twitch and kick and youtube and tiktok and discord and patreon and rumble at the same time at once in the future
Why are you throwing out things you can use and you do like? That is wasteful.
🤑🤑🤑 = 💩
There’s nothing you love more than buying things? That’s really sad, shallow, and empty.
Good job! 👏👏👏👏
I gutted a lot of my closet last year. Then I started buying again. Now I'm out of Hangers 🫤
❤❤❤❤
