Great review, I've been using the LifeStraw water bottle filter through camping season in 2017 and have never had any issues from it. The nice part is if you're unsure of the water you are putting in the bottle drop an iodine tab in and the carbon filter removes that iodine taste from it. I'll be using mine for the 2018 kayak camping season.
Extended the life of a by giving it a helping hand as well. Put a bandana, rag, cloth, ot cotton over the mouth when you fill it up and it's a little less wear and tear on your water filter. Great video and God Bless.
Of all the bottle choices I notice everyone uses hard bottles. The camel back podium is a soft squeeze able bottle that could improve flow rate. That’s what I am going with. It’s in my future back pack set up so I will carry a back up in case it is PIA.
This is a good concept. How come all the other filter manufacturers never ever thought of this? However, the flow rate is horrible, especially if your bottle is full...so tip: leave 1/3 empty or else no water comes out no matter how hard you suck. I cannot use this for everyday use for the very reason of the bad flow rate. Notice that Lifestraw never publish the flow rate on their packaging either, and it's not in the manual....But I imagine if the flow rate was good, this would be the ULTIMATE portable water filter....
Like the review. I learned real quick you cant tip this bottle 180 and drink or it bypasses the filter. I do agree w one of the comments that the flow rate is poor. But its like sucking threw a milk shake. Not bad for on the go and great if you want a bigger bottle than the 22oz LS Go bottle
Just got one and use it with 32oz Nalgene. Same experience. It is not easy to suck on it, not as easy as the regular Lifestraw filter bottle, but it's not hard either. You don't have to tip it. The water is tasteless, which is okay I guess.
Thank you for showing regular nalgene and Red Ozark bottle..thats what I have...will be ordering a set soon...i carry a regular life straw i havent used yet...and a Steri pen in my purse daily for emergency use

I also noticed it does take some effort to get the water through the filter. I would say my only grip is that the should make it fit the larger nalgene bottle to filter all the ounces in it. With the 32 ounce bottle the filter replace a lot of ounces in the bottle so you no longer had a true 32 ounces and if you have some distance between water sources a larger bottle would be nice. Other than that I do still take mine on every trip its nice when around camp not having to purify or boil water every time I want a drink of water.
Once you use it a couple of times is it ok to store it unused for a few months? Say use for a weekend every couple of months or so or do you have to buy another new.

Carry a few coffee filters or handkerchief. Place it over the mouth of the bottle before filling the bottle. Helps keep the sediment down.
