This baby pushes all my buttons. Just a lovely clean ‘56. Luv how straight it seems and lack of chrome and brightwork. Great stance too. I notice on Mid 50’s cars there is plenty of hood clearance for things like single plane and tunnel ram intakes. Wish I could say that with my big block Nova!
In 1966, when I was 14 years old, I bought a car that looked just like this one for $50. I loved the clean look without chrome. 272 CI and 3 speed manual. Paradise.
I like the absence of the traditional bumper guards, the slight lift in the back, the slightly oversized tires (or the appearance of same), the black on black on black attitude, well, just about everything.🙂
I was friends with some moonshiners in the mid 60s in Virginia. Their cars didn’t look this good but they were special. And those boys could drive those Fords and Chevys through those twisty Blue Ridge Mountain roads faster than James Bond in his Aston Martin.
Mine was a 55 2 door hardtop Fairlane, turquoise over cream, cruise skirts, spinner hubcaps, dual exhaust. Pretty but the 6 volt system is a bitch. I love this one, great vlog, thanks for sharing.
The best looking car of the 50s. Looks alot like the one l had, very little chrome. Chevy and Ford must have been spying on each other in designing the 55s. They look so much alike. Is the motor a 302 or 351? Thanks for the vid.
Rod Cameron drove a car just like this in his role as a state policeman in the series "State Trooper". It was the base model 56 Ford Mainline 2 door club sedan. Of course it was black with a V8 but it had the Nevada State Police insignias and logo on the doors.
awesome! The original supercharged V8 was faster than that 5.0 though. I did not even know about this sneaky Ford until a couple days ago. I like it a lot.
Drove my dads 56 Black Crown Victoria around the block when I was 13, got caught, he didn't say a word, I came in the expecting the worse, I hung the keys up on the key hook and he looked me as mom did and said was that fun. I said it sure was. I waited til I got my license to drive after that. Dad traded the car for a 1962 Ford Galaxy by then, I was dis appointed, I wanted the 56. Mom didn't like the 56. Three speed with over drive. The new Galaxy was a very nice car, but not for me, mom loved that white top over maroon color with matching fancy interior. The 56 had rolled and black and white pleated interior, black shiny dash, roll chorme over roof, black floor mats. and that T-bird 312 engine. I hoped I could try that engine out :) So nice :(, Sure hope it found a good home. Later in life I got a 60 Ford truck with a 312 in it painted pumpkin orange black and orange rolled and pleated seat. Flat black dash, with GO FOR IT on dash. I ran a 350 78 stock vette and waxed him. Second gear was rattling I had no sinkcros in that three speed tranny. If I missed a gear it was meat time. BAM. When came in the first first everyone was amazed.
My second car was a 1956 Ford Mainliner that was a former Border Patrol car. Thunderbird V8 with 3 on the tree and an overdrive. Never sounded as nice as this one. Mine had only a short stainless steel piece on the rear panel. Is it still for sale?.
It must be the lowest price, Mainline, because it wears a little or no chrome then the mid-priced Customline, and the top of the line Fairlane. Fender skirts are rarely seen on this 1956 Ford Mainline 2 door business coupe with a V-8 engine.
BEE-youtiful Plain Jane! The more "basic" the better, my favorites are always the taxicabs, squad cars, military vehicles with the absolute minimum chrome. These incorrect bucket seats, however, are HIDEOUS. Not to mention what's under the hood. Original is always best.
Beautiful Ford!
Looks good! Sounds good! Let the Moonshine flow!
Beautiful 56 Ford.

Oh lord. That is a dream car.
55 thru 57 ford had good looking cars and run great. 3 on the tree and overdrive really set them off.
That's the way a Ford should look and sound. Nice
Everything about this car is bad ass.

Jas,
My brother had one too.
272 with 3 on the column.
Primer brown.
$50.00.
Neat old car.
This was the first car my Dad owned here in South Africa. No safety belts. Custom 4door. Love that good old V8 sound.
The times when you could buy a car for 50 dollars. Now you could barely buy one that runs for 500
Man I love this car!!! Exactly how I want our ‘55 to look.
So simple and so bad ass.
Perfect example of the KISS principle 👍 That is truly a black beauty and she sounds strong🐈⬛
I like the absence of the traditional bumper guards, the slight lift in the back, the slightly oversized tires (or the appearance of same), the black on black on black attitude, well, just about everything.🙂
She sounds lovely!
She is beautiful!!
That's a moonshine runner right there! You'd never see that baby in the moonlight!
Sure as hell would hear it though
Too beautiful.
Beautiful sleeper!

Chevy fan here but that is one, sharp Ford!!!!
Mopar guy here that is so darn cool
Mopar me too but love that 56 Ford......
Great paint job too.
Sounds bada$$. Paint looks sharp, too. I love the four-speed.
nice. very nice
Very nice car.....love it..would be proud to own it.....looks bad to the bone..
Sounds like it has a fairly aggressive cam! I love it!
I wish I were I wish I might I wish I had that Ford tonight

Que beleza, até o ronco do motor é agradável. Rio Grande RGS - BRASIL 25/01/2021

Absolutely love it!
I had a 56 custom line back in 1980 I wish I had never gotten rid of it.
Ever see that Stephen King movie “Sometimes They Come Back” with that black 55 Chevrolet? This would make the perfect Ford counterpart!!
..beautiful..
Perfect

American cars I Love it !!!!!
That thing is sick man!

@Jeremy Thompson Wow that was some great info.
Que son maravilhoso...
Freakin awesome.

Now I know what my casket should look like!
Killer!
Une merveille

Didn’t look through all the comments to see if this was asked but are the wheels stock width?
Looks like a rear fixed window business sedan.
Sure it looks and sounds good, let’s see how it run please.
They don't come much cooler than this.
This is what I like
Small block? That sounds twice as big. Great sound.
its a 265, big dual exhaust though
@@5tonyvvvv 265 is a Shivvy motor. This ain't that.
Not a Y block, 289 or 302 Windsor.
Ford was smart not to get into the exaggerated fins during the 50s.
I need one
Southern Hot Rods, are you still using the same shop you were using back around 2012-2013?
This is my dream car but I would never in my life be able to afford it
Was this ever sold.?
Rubber molding on front and rear glass on a '56 Mainline ? The '55 Mainline did, this is the first time I've seen this
Yeah its a Mainline. Looks to me like a business sedan.
❤
Not a Y block...looks more like a 302 or 289 under the hood.
Front distributor is the evidence of non-y block.
MAN! Your camera distorts like hell!
Cool engine swap, though. Small block?
daveogarf I know I have a new one now
Folks meet the Tri 5 Fords.

Kind of like a CHevy Del Ray at the time.
Forgot Victoria. Crown Vic was top of da line.
That is my Car ; )
That`s one nice cheap model. All it needs is a whip antenna and white painted doors. A suitable 2150.
Looks like an old cop car at the time
BEE-youtiful Plain Jane! The more "basic" the better, my favorites are always the taxicabs, squad cars, military vehicles with the absolute minimum chrome. These incorrect bucket seats, however, are HIDEOUS. Not to mention what's under the hood. Original is always best.
Yes I would prefer a bench seat and if you're going to change the engine a 427 side oiler would be the way to go.
Sometimes less is more
This is my first car. Used Miami Dade cop car. White roof. $75 1966
Not the original motor but it's what I would put in it.
That was a disappointment you never described the car what size engine is it
Hot 302
And if you really knew the road… You drive with the lights off…
You could get arrested for just looking at this car.
Looks like an old cop car.
Son de v8
P
HEY GOOFFFF , OPEN THE TRUNK, AND WHATS HP , YOU CANT DO THAT THEN GET OFF UTUBE
