It is really awesome to see you cultivating such good habits and having a healthy and peaceful lifestyle. Even, living in India, knowing these things, many of us are unable to replicate these habits in our daily lives. Most of the times, we run behind our desires to get more and more and end up getting nothing meaningful in life. Your lifestyle reflects your inner peace and happiness. Sharing your knowledge that can help others is said to be the greatest of social works. Thanks for sharing all this with us!
Lovely Video Ma'm, I am suffering from Spinal Disk Herniation from past 10 months and i got treated with the Auyrvedic punchkarma treatment procedure here in Delhi India. I must say auyrveda is so advance and scientific it even works after 5000 years on the newest human gene. after Ayurveda panchkarma im now 80 percent better initially i went to allopathy doctor he asked me to come for surgery , i am so happy Ayurveda saved me from this surgery
The best thing about Ayurveda is that it is flexible. There are no hard and fast rules, just suggestions that are "ideal" - so you can work out what fits in with your schedule. Maybe on your lunch hour you could take a few moments to meditate? Or even just taking some time in the morning to connect with nature - when you're at the bus stop, do a visual meditation looking at the sky, watching your breath, connecting your feet with the energy of the earth.
I think my main dosha is pitta followed by vatta, then kapha. Doing yoga and following TCM nutrition has really helped me keep my pitta in balance-- I'd liken pitta imbalance to being yin deficient in a way-- yin deficiency is my tendency, so I always have to make sure I include a good amount of cooling, yin foods and nurture my yin. But I'm mainly a TCM oriented person and know a considerable amount about it. This vid makes me want to learn more about ayurvedic medicine... seems similar to TCM
Ghee is used to keep the doshas in balance I have looked everywhere in the US for the best ayurvedic ghee for use in Ayurvedic practices. Ancient Organics brand is the only kind I use for Ayurvedic recipes & cleansing (Panchakarma/Shatkarma, Yogic practices). It's a small local company near Berkeley CA, and it's made from the highest quality butter. I would highly recommend Ancient Organics if you are looking for the best quality ghee in the U.S.
i am vata out of home. however i am taking aswaganda and tulsi . now i can sleep on my back. i am not biting nails. i have no sinasitis. my back pain was 90ut ten for last 20 years and now it is 0 to 1 out of ten. my inflammation is sero. i wake up 4 in the morning. i shut down the mind when i want to. i decide when to sleep. i am taking courses and scoring very high marks. my memmory was out . now dont forget my keyes.
Reminds me of my childhood. Its difficult to practice this lifestyle everyday or may be it was easier in ancient times. But Hindus have so many festivals and we follow this routine atleast on those days. used to wake up early, granny applied sesame oil on head, joints etc & we showered with flour mixed in milk and soapnuts instead of soap & shampoo. Spend the day together with family go to temple & irrespective of being a non-vegetarian, all ppl wud have a 5course vegetarian diet.
I am neither a newbie nor a skeptic about Ayurveda. I've made it part of my life, except for one thing. Once my feet hit the floor at 6a.m., I have an hour to be out the door to catch a bus. That's not enough time to get ready as it is. If I took those 10 minutes, I'd be rushing again afterward, until 6p.m. The only way meditation makes the A.M. cut is if I get up earlier. And then, I end up sleep deprived. I could quit working, I guess :).
my biggest question from being a newbie is that with the kapha dosha you suggest morning meditation. What if someones work hours start at 7:30 a.m. Does that mean getting up even earlier for meditation. I am in the military which makes times to do these things hard, but am wanting to encompass this lifestyle as I grow to understand it more
For breakfast cook it right before you eat it. It's very quick to make oatmeal or stewed apples. I have dinner at 6:30 pm, so I start cooking at 6 pm. That usually gives me plenty of time. If I'm making dahl then I use a slow cooker, a crock pot, and I start the meal before I go to work, and it's done when I get home. I can prepare lunch very quickly at home. If I'm working outside of home I usually eat out.
+Vies Idea Prakruti is the state of balance we were born with. Vikruti is our current, maybe unbalanced state. Go on a kapha routine for now and see if you can get back into your more natural state of balance.
But when is the cooking time, That's my biggest question? I was looking for something like that whatever you have explained in your video. I liked your video very much, i want to follow but when should I cook my food.
My dosha is Vata - I have some Kapha in me, hair, skin, and some Pitta in me, ambition. We each have all three doshas, just in different proportions. I have more Vata than anything else!
ONe may be a balanced half but to do the dance of creation, one must find the other pc. to create the perfect balanced Dance! Two as One will transcend this place and move on. Yin Yang, the godly dance Blessings
Nice and informative video, thank you. Butour life asks much more - but where do our families fit in - waking up children, preparing them for school, coooking, washing, ironing, playing with children, reading to them, spending some quality time with your spose, friends.....
I understand - it is all possible - especially when the whole family is living an ayurvedic lifestyle. I raised two boys and we often meditated together. Relationships are essential to our health - everything is connected! :-) Look at my book "What's Your Dosha, Baby?" for more info!
this is great but what if your schedule doesn't fit this can you still go into it as a professional? also there needs to be more explanation because those who are beginning will be very confused with all the terms thrown out.
yes, it can be confusing when first starting out. To get more background and lots of free articles go to www.whatsyourdosha.com . Ayurveda says just do your best. If you're doing 51% of an Ayurvedic lifestyle, and that's all you can do, then that's fine. Don't stress about it. Gradually over time increase - you'll be motivated to increase time because you'll see all the benefits in your life!
Even if you do just 10 minutes of meditation in the morning you'll notice the difference in your life, and you'll find that you actually have MORE time because you will be approaching things much more efficiently. It is best to meditate twice a day - but if you can only get in once a day, in the evening, then do that. Be easy on yourself, don't stress!
I understand what you are saying - but the Yin and the Yang is also within each of us. The Shiva and the Shakti. We have opposites within each of us - and the idea is to balance, to find the strength within, to transcend as we are, where we are. Spirit is within us, around us, running through us. We are never alone.
I planted a peice of a liberty bell (aka liberty cap shroom) in a big field, and hoped it would grow, to honor YHWH, and the spirit of the shroom, and all gnosis, and all spirit consciousness, we do not seek to scare the spirit of the shroom, we take but we always give back, we never take more than a tenth... we honor the divine lifestream... holy is the earth, DIVINE LOVE FOR ALL BEINGS AND ALL FAITHS!!! DIVINE LOVE FOR ALL MYSTICS DIVINE LOVE FOR THE FOREST!!
Thank you! There is 5,000 years worth of anecdotal evidence - and there is also scientific research done to back it all up. One organization that has been instrumental in this research is Maharishi Ayurveda, and also the Maharishi University of Management. Check out mum.edu and mapi.com and you can read more. For further info, ayurveda.com is Dr. Vasant Lad's website for the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM.
Andwele 'D' Kitwana aka Ireland Mahoney (vegetarian) Fairness - Karma - Loving kindness, the maryland/montgomery county government pardoned me from a charge of vandalism for wtiting some encouraging words in impermanent sharpie on a sign because I had been erasing gang graffiti which was in prominent places in suburban neighborhoods and volunteering to recycle trash for years in the community. They also finally gave me medical cannabis which I needed for my Schizoaffective disorder because other prescriptions were all giving me violent allergic reactioned called neuroleptic malignant syndrome. Im glad the government handled it flexiblely and maturely, not like california, they didnt want me to show off medical marijuana just to have it, I think its a good system, they make it look like theres no medical marijuana and then give it to those who really need it privately. They said they will try to remove graffiti from main roads

Correction. One should wake up at brahma muhurta, before the Sun, and kapha time is not a good time to get going in the day - in fact it inhibits it.
