Going to put my old retro S&W folder w/ the tanto blade on the TSPROF this evening. The blade has a bit of a recurve - but i think the 1" x 6" abrasive stones will glide right along and I should get a great edge. Thanks for these tutorials, take care...
Thanks brother!! I didn’t have time to plan it out and make it all professional. I just wanted to make a quick video going over the main things that you need to know so I’m glad it was helpful!
Best video on this. A bit trickier to visualize on the wicked edge cause of the blade being held in a different orientation but I'll be using these tips for the tanto. Thx
Hey buddy this is an amazing video. Ive got a question. I just got my first tanto and its a pm2 tanto where its a compound grind can i do it the exact same way you showed on my Hapstone RS?
Thanks man and no it’s not necessary but some people find it easier. There’s several ways you can do everything, this just happens to be my preferred method for the KME!
Hey man, I just have a question I just got my KME and I have the gold series stones that came with it but I was just wondering do I need to put any kind of lubricant or liquid on the stone that I’m using before I start sharpening? I watch your videos and I thought I heard you say one time that you could use a little bit of Dawn and some water. I’ve been trying to find that video but I can’t because I wanted to make sure. Anyways, I appreciate the videos.
Absolutely! You can use water with soap however I prefer using mineral oil. That’s actually what I use for every sharpening and would be my recommendation!
I’m trying to sharpen my bail out Benchmade knife, but the way the blade is shaped. It’s hard to get a solid bite in the clamp. How did you do yours? If the knife had more of a flat surface It’d be fine but it doesn’t.
I did my bailout on my Tsprof but try clamping it closer to the front and pinch the clamp as tight as you can as you start to tighten it. Then check it and adjust if necessary until you get a solid clamp
@@BLADESANDFADESOFFICIAL that actually worked good man I appreciate it. I’m using the angle cube and towards the back it’s 13.5 it’s like 14.5 Do you think That’s too much because it’s kind of difficult to get the numbers to match from one to the other. you know what I mean?
Probably 20 at the lowest but could be a little higher. This was so many knives ago I really don’t remember and its the only ultratech ive done so It’s not one that I have a “go to” system for. All I know is I stayed right around the factory angle. I just marked the edge and adjusted until it matched and then possibly went down a degree but on knives with short grinds I don’t like laying the edge back because it looks too unproportional
That low angle on the socom is gonna chip out really easy, speaking from experience. You need a really tough steel to go that low. M390 is terribly overrated
You must be new here, go check my most recent videos 😉 And btw, KME is a excellent system and has plenty of advantages over Tsprof. Ive had the Kadet pro for over a year now, sharpened hundreds of knives on it, and actually still recommend the KME over it for 99.9% of people. I’ve made thousands of dollars sharpening knives on the Tsprof kadet pro and have around a thousand in to the system after the clamps and stones and although its nice I still have a hard time justifying the price and im someone who has made money with it. 🤷🏻♂️
Great to see that these tantos can be sharpened with the kme without ruining where the 2 edges meet. Nice job!
Thanks brother!
So much good logic here. I always trip myself out trying to sharpen tantos and knives with hella belly.

Damn, that Socom Elite looks sick!
Excellent tutorial! Great video brother 👍
Thank you brother!
Thank you, i had no idea of the technic i thought it would be very difficult
You’re very welcome!
Have an old cold steel tattoo that has been completely rounded out and mangled, may have to try it out on the KME
Thanks for sharing this. Your video is excellent. You managed to tackle a difficult concept, but explained it very clearly. Great job!! 👍🏻🤗
You are very welcome!!
Awesome stuff my man.
Thanks brother!
This video is just on time . Need to sharpen the only tanto I own soon haha. Been carrying it a lot lately
Nice! Let me know how it goes!
@@BLADESANDFADESOFFICIAL Will do! 👍
Great descriptive explanation. I need to fix the transition tip on my Microtech Hellhound

I don’t see why not. Shouldn’t be any different!
@@BLADESANDFADESOFFICIAL its not im sharpening it now. Its coming along great. Taking it up to the 7/5 micron venev stone.
good video. So it's not necessary to change the blade position from the clamp in order to sharpen the front tip?
