At $800, that fire extinguisher would be one of the few things in my house that I would be trying to save from the fire...lol.

As a guy who is trained as a firefighter, I think the Amplla Hussechuck fire extinguisher shield looks cool, but I wouldn't recommend or use it. Fire extinguishers are for smaller fires where a shield would not been needed. In larger apartment/office/home fires where there is a lot of smoke, the shield restricts the ability to crawl and feel ahead for obstructions with the back of a hand. OH, and a price tag which is around ten time the regular cost of an extinguisher, I don't see these flying off the shelf.

It's for the UBER rich that find regular fire extinguishers to be an eyesore in their lavish living quarters, so it can be hung like art, bragging rights that they can afford it, and to give them that in control feeling of having a shield against that blaze because the rich are just better than the rest of us.... 🤣🤣🤣

Not me. When I hear stuff like a company raised over 200,000 for their product, then they release it for 450 each.
That's insane. The public helped them get to where they are and they turn around and price gouge the public right back.
Those glasses should be 40 bucks. That is PLENTY for the cost of materials and labor to assemble (probably robotically)
Those glasses are never going to sell, because they are too greedy.

I immediately googled it and found similar size one for $50. Firefighters holding a shield makes sense, especially when they have to breach a door, but they can hold one while using a hose or an extinguisher with far more capacity. Seems like a very niche product, if the fire is so hot you can't get close enough to use the extinguisher then the time when that extinguisher could have helped with it has likely passed already.

💬 Interesting invention, but I have to agree with some of the comments here. The Amplla Hussechuck fire extinguisher shield seems cool, but in a real fire situation, it may not be practical. As a firefighter, I would not recommend or use it in larger fires where a lot of smoke is present, as the shield can restrict movement and the ability to feel ahead for obstructions. Plus, with a price tag that is ten times higher than a regular extinguisher, I don't think this will be a popular item for most people.
