Love your clear, concise videos. I have learned a lot! But mostly, and I can't stress this enough, thank you for pronouncing your consonants so clearly. So tired of hearing young folks saying, buh-un (button) or impor-ant (important). You are a pleasure to watch. 🎉
These are the most awesome tips ever and I love the humor you share them with but also the seriousness. My favorite was attaching the lid to the side of the instant pot. I never knew you could do that. Thank you. Anyway, I plan to send this video to all my friends who refuse to use it because they fear it.
Additional tip to go with making sure your sealing ring is in place:. . . Sealing rings do start to stretch out a little, but it is not that bad and I think they last a little longer than they say. Making the silicone gasket wet on the pot side helps it slide into place and seat properly, so it won't buckle and leak. Silicone tends to absorb flavor, so don't leave the sealing ring in the closed pot. Store the silicone ring separately or what I do is put the lid on upside down with the silicone gasket facing up when not cooking.
Yes! Definitely great tips. thanks for sharing :)
These tips should be common sense. That said good to remember.
I wondered if you could use the slow cooker liners since there is a slow cooker function so thanks for answering that.
I’ve practically put my face right inside it. So good one. That’s the best one ever lol.
Excellent tips Lisa! Thank you! Happy Mother's Day! 💐🌸💐🌸😄💖🙏🏾💖🙏🏾
That is so sweet. Thank you!
One I’d like to add, sometimes pressure can build after sauteing if you turn the function off and put the lid on. One time I sauted some food, turned off saute mode, added liquid, but closed the lid to keep everything warm while I was prepping other ingredients. Pressure built without my pressing “pressure cook.” Luckily I noticed, but that would have been super dangerous!
I love these videos Lisa. Ty so much for sharing. I have several of your instant pot books. So helpful. Ty.
Thank you so much, Carol!
Most of my recipes call for oil when you saute. Is it okay to put a couple if tablespoons spoons of oil in it when you saute?
I put my lid in dishwasher on top shelf! I’ve never had a problem! Love love love my IP! Just ordered your book can’t wait to receive it!
Thank you so much, Connie! I'm so glad it works for you. I hope you love my book!
I bought an instant pot because I seen one of your videos. I absolutely love it. Happy Mothers Day.
Me too
Oh my gosh, that's so nice! Thank you so much!!
Very help and educational tips! Thank you, Lisa! Happy Mother's Day!
Aww, thank you Wendy!
Thank you. I am new to the pot. I made chicken and dumplings today. Happy mothers day
That sounds delicious! thank you for the mother's day wishes :)
I agree not to mess with the pin or the venting seal in general. But once in a great while, the pin doesn’t go all the way down on its own, even when it’s fully depressurized, and I have to poke it. Maybe there’s some tiny particle or residue of food that causes it to stick, just barely
Agreed and yes that happens sometimes. I think at that point you can generally tell there is no pressure left. But when it's fully pressurized, definitely not! :)
I have 7 ft bead board ceilings and haven't used my Instant Pot yet (a gift from my daughter) as I am worried about the steam release damaging the ceiling -- please tell me I'm worrying for nothing! Or, if there is indeed a possible problem, how I can protect the ceiling? TIA!
hold a towel a few inches above the vent, don't drape it over
@@TracyKMainwaring won't I be in danger of burning my hand? How long does it take to vent? TIA!
@janices5389 as long as it's like a large tea towel and not a face cloth, you should be fine. Or, get a hand held fan and wave it around
I have low ceilings and use my IP all the time. I don’t see any reason why it would damage the ceiling. Also yes, some times on a quick release I hold the towel “above” the IP or I put it on the stove with the stove vent suction on high, which sucks it up.
What a lovely gift from your daughter! I wouldn't be too worried about the steam damaging the ceiling. If you have a pot of something red like lasagna soup and you give it a full quick release, it may release red droplets everywhere so I wouldn't do that! (release in short bursts like I instructed instead) But, it should be ok. If you have a hood vent, I always put my Instant Pot under that and turn on the hood and then release the steam.
I have yet to cook something good in the IP. There is always something that doesn't come out right and it's really annoying me at this point lol. I wish I loved mine as much as everyone loves theirs
Try any of my soup recipes. The loaded potato soup recipe is one of my most popular! I love my Zuppa Toscana or chicken noodle soup with homemade egg noodles. I bet it will change your mind :) triedtestedandtrue.com/soup-recipes/
@@Lisa.Childs Thank you! I just looked it up and it sounds delicious! I think the problem is that I have a 3 qt IP and most recipes are for a 6qt. Would anything in the potato soup need to be adjusted for a 3qt?
24 safety pits? Chernobyl reactor had fewer safety instructions lol
You can’t use the instant pot as a deep fryer in sauce mode. Bad idea.
Most of my recipes call for oil when you saute. Is it okay to put a couple if tablespoons spoons of oil in it when you saute?
Yeah I do this all the time or use butter. I think she just means don’t try to deep fry with it.
