Outstanding. I bought a classis 12 in 12g for my best man a few years ago and i love every time he brings it on a hunt. This is a level above.
Have the standard classis for over 2 years now and use it for everything and even clays great gun

I have a Classis IV, and the regular boxlock, both 12ga.. The IV has the 28" bbls and the boxlock has the 30". For a non-Turkish gun it is likely the best of what is out there for my purpose, which was for waterfowl, and is still a reasonable price. The 28"bbl is a nicer balance than the 30, which is somewhat expected. At the time I got the boxlock, 2014, it was really the only thing out there that had most of the features I wanted, 3", chokes, english, oiled stock, some reasonable decoration. Only detractor was the SST', which is liveable. The ownres manual says they have DT's for it, haven't seen one yet. As I shoot steel in it, 3" 1-1/4oz loads @ 1450 ( to keep the pressure down a bit, anyway.), I wanted a gun that was built to shoot steel, which this is. FAIR Iside, Pedersoli and Fausti didn't really have anything comparable. at the time.. Beratta 486 was too much money, and still an SST, Merkel was perhaps a possibility, but, still too much. Had an issue with a bent extractor on the boxlock last yr,, that was all so far. Has been out in the rain, snow, got muddy, worked fine. I expect the extractor was due to crushing peas or barley occasionally in closing it.. They do recover well with using 3" and pattern really, really well. I've shot nothing but 3" in it in 4 seasons plus one spring snow shoot with them, really has done what I wanted. I find them nicer to shoot than my SBE or A300, I shot the boxlock with the wood buttpad til last year, and put a red pad on last year, just to get a bit more length, was not because of recoil., The Classis IV already had the red pad when I bought it. I did inquire with Fabarm USA about a 20, they say they can't ( more likely won't) import them. I bought mine here in Canada off the shelf. With the dollar tanking here, they went up quite a bit, still cheaper than a Beretta though. Very happy with what I have here. I really still don't see anything out there that compares with the features these have for the money, for a 3" waterfowling purpose gun.
Beautiful gun, I understand the price issue and possibility of buying an English gun. But for an industry aimed very much towards over and under, it's great too see side by sides still being made fir us mere mortals at a fairish price point. My next gun will be a SBS probably AYA or this if it comes fixed choke.

Beautiful gun. I realize this video is a few years old now so I am curious how this gun compares to the newer Fabarm Autumn? Also, I’d love to see a comparison between these lovely guns and the much less expensive Tristar Bristol sxs produced by Kahn Arms. I current shoot clays with a Fabarm Elos N2 and picked up the Tristar for Grouse and woodcock in the fall. For $900 U.S. the Bristol seems like a nice gun for following a dog through the thickets.

I agree about buying an old English gun instead (I have several). My 1883 Lang hammer gun is my go to gun for sporting clays, and Bismuth shot works fine for hunting in California, where it's required. No need for steel proofs.
Eventually we'll have to start shooting non-toxic at the range too. Then I'll have to re-evaluate, as Bismuth is too expensive for a hundred targets a week.
Nice review. Wasn't aware Fabarm made high end guns.
They always have...their barrels are tested at the highest pressure of any company 1630 BARS that's almost 25000 PSI. Reason C. Guerini acquired the company.

The problem with old english guns is they are old english guns. Short chambers, no spares available, anything you need for them has to be handmade. Barrels getting thin, and is it really fair to be sending hundreds of shots through them as fast as you can at driven birds ? I have an old english side by side, love it to bits, but only use it for the odd informal day at clays or walked up game shooting.
Plus the UK market is over taxed everything cost more there
What would be the resale value of one of these as compared to a Paralello or English shotgun.
I suspect th Fabarm would lose value when compared to the competition but then again if you have to shoot steel and want to shoot a side by side it might be one of only a few options. Maybe add an AYA to the list.....
Johnny do you feel that a sxs truly need removable chokes? Or like auto safeties and ejectors, companies like Fabarm believe that removable chokes are selling features and will appeal to a wider consumer base. Maybe I am jaded and have been around firearms too long but what is wrong with fixed chokes, a manual safety and extractors for what will be essentially a very nice field gun? Even a new clay gun like a Citori, I find myself changing the safety and removing the ejectors. As nice as the the gun is, I think Fabarm missed their mark on this one and you are right about the price point...
I was told by a CEO of a well known gunmaker when I asked him the question ‘why don’t you make a fixed choke gun?’, that ‘a fixed choke gun takes a gunsmith, a multi choke takes an engineer, the staff are easier to find and the product easier to make’
Making a more versatile gun is everyone’s aim nowadays, and I do feel that that is to the detriment of gunmaking on the whole.
@@tgsoutdoors Why am I not surprized!?! It seems that this is the direction the world is heading in. It's like the automotive industry, where car makers are building vehicles for commuters and no longer for drivers and enthusiasts. It explains why there's a homogeneity in modern cars that is lack luster and there only thing that excites today's consumers are the bells and whistles. I say take away my navigation system and with the money saved, give me better leather seats. I say, take away my auto safety and ejectors and with the money saved, give me a higher grade of walnut.

I am hard core SxSider and believer in fixed chokes, I learned to hunt (not to shot! .. to HUNT !!) with an old hummer gun and I was making my own loads and training my own dog at the age of 17 (under my late father's supervision), and I am now 54. I have witness the O/U slowly replacing the SxS and the semi-autos gaining popularity. Never understood the popularity of chokes and never liked thinking all the time if my chokes are properly screwed or not when I take a shot.
However now that steel has come into play, chokes help a lot. Steel patterns different that lead .. waaaay different. Having the option of changing chokes help old hunters like myself to figure out how steel works ... I don't wish to do steel tests on my beloved AYA No4 or on my V. Sarasqueta. So I got myself a FABARM Elos DII and I am testing different chokes to make it pattern with steel the way my AYA patterns with lead ... got my eyes on the FABARM classis now ...

That is yet another beautiful bit of kit but my gun safes are getting a bit full!!

I understand fabarm classis is only sxs to be pressure rated to fire steel shot in full choke.
Yildiz (Turkish) do a m/c sxs steel proof 3 1/2" chambers.

mchughcb Yes, they come with a full set of steel proof chokes.
@@snook1249 be careful !!! DO not fire steel shots with ALL the chokes that come with Yildiz or any other shotgun (except FABARM). The guns may come with a selection of chokes but ALL manufacturers state that you can use steel sells up to MODIFIED choke !!! However few people bother reading the manuals ...
At the moment ONLY FABARM guns can shoot steel at up to full choke....not sure about Guerini guns, but again their barrels are made by FABARM.
How would compare this to a 586 Parallelo?

Alright on the outside I suppose no great style , but what's it like on the inside ,thats the question . In future reviews lets see the works and how well finished or not they are .

My preference would be the Parallello in a 20 and this in the 12. This is a more versatile gun than the beretta however the Beretta in a 20 is undeniably refined and gorgeous.
@@tgsoutdoors yes but ive held the classis 20 and i preferred its handling to the beretta in the 12g.

I was so close to order the 486 Parallelo in 12 gauge but after looking at this one, I changed my mind completely
I have a still brand new unfired Silver Hawk in 20 gauge so I’m not worried about 20 gauge
I think this Fabarm covers everything I need.
Plus it has the beautiful game scene, sidelock and the wood that the Parallelo lacks

Very nice wood but it looks as though they didn't bother to finish it. Wood to metal fit doesn't seem to be as good as it should be for the price. Bet that "...most exquisite hand-built English gun" wouldn't have monoblock barrels. Yes, I know there's nothing "wrong" with having brazed/welded metal under high pressure in front of your face and between your hands; but, it's not my preference.
As you say £3500 could get you a very nice English gun

Gunshop if the future is steel shot you dont have to buy a 3500 side by side with multi chokes to shoot steel any side by side with chokes no tighter than half will happily take light steel shot my own aya no3 magnum choked 1/4 1/2 is used on the marsh Great video by the way

@@tgsoutdoors I've been using an AYA no3 magnum for fowling, opened up to imp/imp. Happily shoots any 3" load. Absolute pleasure to shoot superb piece of gun making. I'd say it is a notch above the no4 in every aspect.
@@tgsoutdoors Theres a lot of hunters in the field that are confused regarding older guns taking light steel loads so looking forward to the video as i say i use a aya no3 magnum made 1979 for ducks choked 1/2 1/4 never had a problem with light steel Great channel very informative On a side note would like to see video on the 222 calibre what your opinions would be on it as nowdays 223 22/250 has taking over for foxes cheers keep good videos coming thanks again
