Johnny...that was truly an amazing an amazing compendium of Beretta's origins and history. You really do have a gift for being able to communicate and get many points across in a very limited time span. Very well done.
Been watching your vids for a few years, and I think this is your best yet. Good factual info, put across well, by somebody with a passion for their subject. I bought a Webley 951 brand new as a first gun a few years ago and just sold it to buy a 30 year old 686. Fantastic gun and much better imo. Not sure if it was intentional but over your shoulder was written ATA, and as you alluded towards the end, they are slowly becoming the most commonly recommended gun for first time game and sporting shooters.
My S.55 Silver Snipe is nothing fancy, but always seems to be a conversation starter, mostly due to not having a top rib, just a front blade sight. Beretta is definitely one of my favorite makers.
My first shot gun was a LC smith 12 bore side by side great gun. Years have past now I've bought a SP -1 sporter 12 bore 30" barrels extend chockes with color bands on them the sporter is very balance gun I have little weight in the rear to get my barrel rise up for balance at the hinge pin. Wow what a gun Love it.
Love the channel! I have two Beretta over-under shotguns I did not hear mentioned, or at least not by the names I know them by and what is marked on them: 1. A 20 "bore" as you would say Silver Snipe with a plain barrel which my father bought in 1961, 2. A 12 bore S 685 with a ribbed barrel that I believe he bought in the 1980s. The Silver Snipe has one of the most beautiful stocks I have ever seen. The wood on the S 685 is rather plain, but it is feather light and shoots great. I find almost nothing about the 685 on the Internet- it is as though it never existed. I would appreciate more information on these fine Berettas! Thanks Johnny - I really enjoy watching your videos - entertaining and informative! Scott
Years ago I was given one. Obviously a very strong design but I rarely use it because the stock is far too straight. Guns with more drop at comb and heel are much more comfortable to handle. This is something that our shooting ancestors knew very well.
great review, the only bit missing is that they will break more than a browning, ... them slim line action can't take the same work... :-) great review well done
Well said John.. Always looking forward to your next video, is it strange where the gun market is heading? There is lots of good inexpensive guns coming out of all different parts of the world.. I would love to hear about the great Ruger Red Labels over and under shotguns. Keep up the great reviews, the best on utube. From Canada 👍
What are your thoughts on the modern Beretta shotgun range that are supposedly built a bit poorly? I quite fancied a 690 Black but have seen and heard of various Beretta stock/action failures where the gun has ended up falling into two pieces so I'm reluctant to chance it on one.
I bought my first Beretta, an AL-2 bird gun @ age 14, some 48 years ago. Well, my father actually bought it but it was with my money (I began working at age 12) It was about a pound lighter than Dad's Rem 1100 and for years he kept trying to trade me for it. I still have it, along with a 1201FP and a 92F. I love them all and plan on having them all buried with me.
Hello John, another outstanding video from a man that knows what he is talking about. Would love to go out and shoot with you one day. You didn't mention anything about the 686 Onyx. I have the black edition. In brief, could you please give me some history on it.
Good Video as always, I kind of wish I hadn’t bought a Browning last weekend but it was more of an availability / Cash & Cosmetics issue . One Base line Beretta I could have had , had a Grayish finish over the Stock vs a few more appealing Brownings so I bought the Browning remembering what you had said in another Video. Thanks
Hi J. I know you are an O/U man , but can you do an indepth review of the A400 Plus Xtreme ..... the newest model and give your opinion on the KO 3 system in this latest version . Your comments /review would be a valuable resource.
I know this is a while ago but please slow down. Your descriptions are brilliant but please slow down! Do not ruin it by running through it. Your knowledge is exceptional pal, so for novices like me hold back a bit. Cracking video non the less. Cheers as ever!
Hi, trying to choose between the Beretta Paralello and the Rizzini 550 for a side by side game gun that holds value. I’d be so grateful for your opinion
I have been interested in Buying a 686 for a few years now. I fight the same battle as most people where I have money for one gun with which I would like to shoot game and clays. I have long thought a game model with 30 inch barrels would suffice. Slightly better swing than the standard 28s while still sitting in a lighter game stock. My question is if there would be a balance issue making the gun front heavy and more work to carry in the field. I would appreciate any replies. Thanks
Amazing videos, can you make a video about S56(bl4 in Us) those shotguns where sold in crazy number here in North America and upland hunters still using those. Although there is no info their action at all beside the schematics. It seems s56 will outlive us if we know how to maintain it.
Hi Jonny I've got a 686's p1 and have just started shooting again but I have been looking at a semi auto Beretta for pigeon and Duck hunting with would you recommend by the way love your blogs regards Cliff UK
The Gun Shop Ok, are the expensive ones worth the money? Best magnification and overall size, or a top 5 review? That sort of thing..... I’ve got some cheap Hawke 8x32 when I first got into stalking and I’ve never up graded them, but would like to know where to spend my money... cheers
Great channel! I have learned allot about shotguns, and Berettas in particular. Would you recommend to buy a 686 SP 1 or a 690 Field 1 as my first gun? The price dif is around 500€
I watch your videos fairly often and I wonder why you always seem to only talk about Over/Unders ? Me personally, I think most people only buy OU because they look cool. A semi-auto is much more practical in my opinion. I'd love to see what you think of a Beretta A400 vs. Benelli Supersport ... I've only shot a Silver Pigeon for 1 day and besides that I've always used a Benelli ... so maybe I'm a bit biased but, after shooting the Beretta, it made me appreciate the Benelli much more.
Yes but, why is an OU popular ? Is it because there is an advantage in using one or just because they look pretty ? I think semi-autos with red dots are going to be the future of clay shooting. @@tgsoutdoors
Because they are the best tool for consistent shooting? I think it is interesting that 99% of top shooters use an o/u, and I guess most people follow this path. Why red dots?
My friend told me that all lower-tier O/U Berrettas receivers are made of powder steel. Is this bad? I picked Sako over Tikka because of materials and I don't regret paying more.
Again I ask you to have a video on Issac hollis guns whatever they are because some say they rubbish worth very low price and some they advertised them as great gun waitting kindly for your answers
Some guy over at Beretta is probably watching this and thinking, OK no more replaceable parts. Make them buy a new gun. They'll lower the price a little but they will be disposable guns.
I've heard all kinds of BS about Beretta's being made in Turkey. One person told me the barrels are made in Turkey. Another said the whole gun is made in Turkey and then assembled in Italy. I've even been told that Beretta owns many of the Turkish companies. I think someone just read that the wood is Turkish Walnut and then assumed the gun is made in Turkey. Besides.... If Beretta actually changes them to be made in Turkey they will probably change the name to the Silver Turkey..... Call the black edition the Roasted Turkey.
Jake Burma nothing wrong with a Turkish gun but they most certainly don’t match the higher quality Beretta guns. On a budget by all means get yourself a decent Turkish gun but honestly you are gonna pay a premium for the Beretta and for the same quality you are gonna pay at least 1.5 times. However their higher end guns are nearly without compare. I am no gentleman so I have an M4 and Montefeltro, (I prefer the former since I can beat it all to Hell and have never cleaned it and never intend to).
Beratta owns the company Stoeger in Turkiye, so most probably they produce some of the guns, may be the whole. Turkish guns are great. Any good brand is quite okay for hunting. But they have some miles to run for trap/skeet shotguns due to high number of shots. I strongly advice you to check these brands: Ata, Akus, Yildiz, Kizilkaya, Akdaş, Huglu
@@tgsoutdoors thank you, on 1 of the offences i signed a caution but i was falsely accused and the person who made the accusations was cautioned for it, would my caution be wiped
Hi Jone, thank you very much for such a comprehensive videos. I'd like to ask you. Recently I have bought Beretta 692 sporting, could you tell please, how often I need to apply Tru oil to protect the stock of it and when should I start applying oil, after what period of time? Thank you a lot!!!
