Point of correction. Brothers. The dollar thing didn’t start from the year of return. It has been there long time. The government is fighting against it but the people are not helping. Charging in dollars is against the laws of the land. Also the misconception of our brothers and sisters from America thinking that they are the ones bringing their money to build the continent is wrong. You touched on an important issue but it will take Ghanaian living abroad to understand. Intellectual discourse like this should be well documented and understood with data. They got some info wrong. You see we appreciate their contribution towards Ghana’s development, however it should not appear as though they helped our GDP grow without making reference to the real people who contributed to that growth. Ghanaians abroad in 2022 send about $4.7 billion dollars to Ghana 🇬🇭 which was estimated to be $5 billion and was the second largest in Sub-Saharan Africa with Nigeria 🇳🇬 coming in always at number 1. Like you said, Ghana was charging in dollars before the year of return and it must stop. And it’s sad when our own people try to differentiate themselves from Africans by saying they helped build Egypt and America 🇺🇸. Who built it? It’s all the works of our people. They should not single out blacks Americans from Africans when it comes to Development. We are one people. It’s our brothers and sisters who were taken away and they helped build wherever they went. If we talk about the colonization etc then we won’t finish this conversation. They need to get the facts right and not push the narrative as it’s because of their money 💵. If we want to list what Ghanaians abroad have done lol we won’t finish. Thanks 🙏

These business employee the local people allowing them to make good wages to feed their families., buy cars, and build homes. Without these additional businesses opened by foreigners, the unemployment rate would be high. It's a win-win situation for the immigrant, the local person, and the government.

I'm also sure the Americans and Brits that frequent his establishment are happy it is there. The Ghanaians who use his services are happy it is there as well. The person Judah bought building from or that built the building also is happy since the Judah's dollar is what bought the establishment.
In Mauritius, the government created two big business parks to house lots of foreign owned companies that bring money from outside of the country to pay employees. This model is so successful that another business part will be built on Rodrigues Island (an island of Mauritius).
In both instances, locals are gainfully employed and the investors are compensated for their investments.
It's better a foreigner creates a business than working a local job in a local company taking a job away from a local. We all have to eat at the end of the day.
