    This is really cool, although it isn't something I could ever do myself. XD
    Out of curiosity, though: does it make any difference whether a card is holographic or not, do you think? I feel like the cardboard tends to be a little more sturdy for holographics than it is for the common ones.
    (Also, it would've been nice to see the card with the artwork placed back into it, but this is still really cool.)

      @SunforgeCards  Рік тому +1

      Yes, there is a big difference, but not all holo cards are necessarily more sturdy. Some, especially older prints, are flimsier in the holo version.
      As for the finished card, there is a video of it on my channel, and you can see the frame with the artwork back in.

    This is amazing my only question is why did you not put the foam tape under the attribute orb and stars

    • @SunforgeCards
      @SunforgeCards  3 роки тому +4

      I was doing that because I’m moulding those from the front to make them deeper before putting resin in them and I felt like putting tape under them would then push up the cardboard in that spot. However lately I realized that it’s not really noticeable, so now I cover those with foam underneath as well.

      That one tool you had no name for looks like a dential Scraper of some sort.
      It does not have a point on the end as they normally do

    The frame looks hella cool!! Btw do you have any experience with hardening the resin with an UV lamp, I'm wondering if it would damage the card?

    • @SunforgeCards
      @SunforgeCards  2 роки тому

      I now use UV resin as well, stopped using epoxy a while back, but the tutorial is pretty old 😁

    1:39 I believe this is a dental tool if anyone's curious, possibly an sickle scaler? I would try the keywords "plaque remover dental tool"

    Is there also a way to work with resin, without the need of a mask? (I don't know if there's different resin types) I'd like to make cards have that same glossy effect.

      Lately I've been using UV resin instead of epoxy resin, which I handle without a mask.
      For the glossy effect you could just varnish the cards instead.

    Are one of the other, less preferred, methods of edge inking to use a black sharpie marker? Any experience with that as an alternative? Thank you!

    • @SunforgeCards
      @SunforgeCards  2 роки тому

      There are a lot of shadowbox artists that use markers for edge inking! I think both are valid, but I personally prefer painting because the finished edge looks a bit cleaner to me; I also dislike the feeling of scraping the edge with a marker for some reason, but this is highly subjective.

    • @Daniel_DiSanto
      @Daniel_DiSanto 2 роки тому

      @@SunforgeCards Thank you! I may give both a try. Now to find some cards that I have enough multiples of and don't mind cutting up to practice on.

      @@Daniel_DiSanto BECAREFUL with markers on card. they tend to bleed. I typically use mixed gel media on some cards. and even a sharpened pencil at the very least.
