This video was so helpful. We couldn’t get the electrodes off the handle. But when we saw you use a flathead to disconnect them, that helped us finally get them detached. Compared to other videos, this video is more detailed overall. Thank you!

A big thank you! I also couldn't get the electrodes off but finally saw someone use the flathead to get them off. You! Only a black handle. That's okay. Beats spending $200 or more for a repair man. Thank you sir!

Hardest part of this repair was removing the electrical connectors. Found your video looking for ideas. The flat head screwdriver worked good for one connection, the other was a serious pain to remove.

FANTASTIC! One can purchase an inexpensive set of TORX bits for a hand held drill. That really helps. As a HAM radio operator, I turned off the kitchen power and put a VOM on the terminals of the wiring harnesses. POWER WAS ON! My contractor put the dishwasher on a separate breaker. THAT'S OK but as the gentleman suggests...CHECK FIRST! I purchased the whole latch assembly from Maytag for about $60 and they shipped it promptly. I didn't see the black handle only! The hardest part was removing the two power harnesses. I was really worried that I would crack the black and white power clips. The assembly is held to the door frame by two of the eleven door screws. I suggest that you lay the handle assembly in the correct position and carefully lay the inner door panel down on it. Then put two of the eleven screws in those holes that hold the handle assembly in place. DO NOT TIGHTEN. Pull the remaining nine screws in place and tighten loosely. Once all of the screws are in place, set your hand drill to the lowest speed and slowly tighten each screw down. You don't want to strip the holes out. TA DA! Works like a charm. Thank you again for this great video. Saved me a bunch of money!

Thanks for the helpful video. I only wish you showed a better shot of pryi g the electrodes off of the handle. Mine are stuck and I'm concerned I might break something. Would have been good to see the placement of the pry that in more detail.

I was afraid of breaking something too but they did not break. Just use the flathead screwdriver to pry them off. No other video shows this. Hallelujah!

This was a great video, as it showed how to pop the plug off, which I was uncertain of in my own repair.

Thank you! everyone shows you how to replace the complete unit... but no one else shows you how to remove and save the handle - which is now required if you need to replace any white/tan handle (they only make black handles now).
Extra hint: If your old/original White/Bisque handle is broken/cracked and can't be re-used, you can use a little matching spray paint on the black handle (remove it as shown here, paint and re-attach).

do I have to remove the new handle piece? or can I just replace the whole latch assembly as is ?

Easy, peasy. even for a GGmother! But you need to install it completely to work. It doesn't "work" holding it in your hand and trying to see if it works. Gotta install it completely.

Exactly the right video, but for me the timing was off. I already replaced the entire assembly twice now over the last 14 years needlessly, when I could have replaced just the handle. Very disappointed Maytag couldn't manage to make the silly handle of of aluminum or SS. Live and learn. Supposed to dishwasher and I live a little longer, I'll have the chance to replace just the handle. Anybody happen to know the exact part number for just the handle for the Maytag in white? Best regards, and thank you for the great procedural video

I noticed some distinct difficulties there in the removal. I have found that some swearing usually helps and was sadly disappointed that there was none of that. I suggest you reconsider that on your next, very helpful, videos! 😂

Where does one find just the handle replacement part? I do not see it listed in the parts catalog.

For me the handle broke so if it comes with a new one use that one. May keep you from doing the repair 2x
