Outstanding video. $25 for the part and installation took 20 minutes tops, and I was taking my time. Saved me god knows how much on a service call. Well done! Thanks a million!
I have the same dishwasher and am having trouble locating the model number for the correct handle replacement kit. can you post a link to the handle you ordered?
YES. Some washers are plugged in under the sink and some are hardwired to the panel. Always turn the breaker off, power switch, unplug your power when working with electrical devices.
Thanks so much for this easy-to-follow video! We ordered the replacement part from Amazon ($22.37 USD), and once we located the correct screwdriver head (T20 Torx), it took all of twenty minutes to install the new handle. Twenty bucks and twenty minutes sure beats a pricey service call from the Maytag Man!
I did it ... now .. latch catch works all ligth ok.. but dishwasher won't work .. it keep flashing in any mode.. was better putting a chair in front of the door.. at least it was working... lol... any idea please?
I found the part replacement with a similar model number but a digit off. It says the latch part is black. I have a white latch. Do you know if the MDB8600AWW would work on a model MDB8601AWW? I suspect the one digit difference might be the issue of the color of the latch. And thank you for a great video. I'll tell my husband (the illustrious engineer) that it looks easy enough that even a history major could do it. Smile. (I'm a history major).
This model has a diagnostic manual available online. It shows what buttons to press to run various diagnostic and return codes for what is wrong. I used it to help me diagnose mine and fixed it myself.
Thank you, you helped me out a lot. Heads up for everyone else, don’t accidentally touch both metal pieces when working to unplug the old handle. I electrocuted myself.
You just saved me $260 plus tax for a repairman. I'm a 69-year-old single woman and can totally do this myself thanks to you.
Wonderful don’t forget to subscribe!!
Used this video as the basis for my handle repair. Found this content to be spot on. The suggested part was a perfect fit. Thank you for your video.
Glad it helped

Did you get this solved? I just pulled mine .
The part number is shown towards the end of the video.
Shouldn't you shut the circuit breaker off before repair?
YES. Some washers are plugged in under the sink and some are hardwired to the panel. Always turn the breaker off, power switch, unplug your power when working with electrical devices.
Nice and simple 👌
Great Video - Perfect
This would be nice if I could actually open my dishwasher to begin with 😂
How did you open it? Mine is stuck closed
@@kalizktook a butter knife and jammed it in there till I could pop the handle out. I got very lucky took 15 mins
Unplug machine first….and don’t forget to plug it back in after.
Thank you sir! God bless UA-cam repair videos - what would we do without them?
🤝
Anyone know where I can get the front panel too. Looks obsolete unfortunately. But some of my plastic pieces the screws go into were also broken
Part was $44 dollars for me. Also, turn circuit breaker off before repair,
Thank you for this video!!!!!Took 20mins !!!! tough to unplug the old handle connection.
Glad it helped
That is a very timely and helpful video! Thank you, sir!
They're T-20 Torx (star) screws.
Thanks, exactly the video I needed for mine. Replaced the cracked button panel/display and the broke handle.
Yes this the important while selecting the screw driver.
How do you open it when it’s broke to get to this point?

Speak to Appliances Parts Distributor in your area. I have MDB5601AWW model. Now a days they are not making white latches I heard.
Thanks. link to the parts?
Does the rubber gasket seal on the inner door go over top of the plastic rib of the basin?
I don’t remember. Maybe someone else can answer that question.
Does it matter if you put the wiring backwards?
I don’t think that’s the best thing to do. Try to pay attention to the way the wires are. Take pictures before removing the cables and plugs.
Thanks, that was easy.
Thank you! Great video.

Your title should say handle "replacement " not "repair"
You are right. Thank you. How do you like it now?
@@allritythen perfect! My actual handle is broken...and im cheap and dont want to buy the whole part. 🤪
Actually, my real problem is my dishwasher will start the wash cycle, run for a minute, and then turn off. Any help with would be awesome!!!

Please, always cut the power to an appliance before working on it. You learned the hard way.
oh ...oh...oh.. I feel your pain. Thanks for the reminder!
Wish I saw this comment before I also electrocuted myself 🤣
Me too😂
