    RETIREMENT:
    1. FIND YOUR PASSION
    2. DREAM BIG
    3. MAKE A PLAN
    4. BECOME AN EXPERT IN WHAT YOU LOVE
    5. NEVER SETTLE FOR LESS THAN BEST
    6. HELP OTHERS ACHIEVE THEIR DREAMS
    7. DON'T LEAVE THOSE YOU LOVE BEHIND
    8. HAVE FUN ALONG THE WAY

Few people love what they do for a living. Because we always prioritize which is most paying and start applying for those courses and if you don't get them, then settle for something which is less paying. In the end - you get paid ok, but you don't like what you do. Fortunately for me, I ended up doing what I love, and even though I work long hours, it is still fun since that is what I always wanted to do. Great job Dan !! Hearty congratulations !!

I want to follow his example. The old saying goes: "if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life". I have been working almost everyday for over 30 years.

I hope that you have health & dental insurance. I just early retired at 60 years of age at 28 years of service. I was able to do that because I was a professor & had "defined benefit plan". Dental insurance is not included in that. My monthly insurance fees (for my husband & I) are $532.90 per month w/ 60% contribution from the University. No dental insurance is included. I have dental insurance through AARP at $126.00 for two individuals. We had active investments in real estate & sold those properties, just a year ago. We planned for our retirement since 1990 & is frugal, so financially will be able to afford early retirement. Our 1400 sq. ft. home & vehicles are paid for. Be careful with this advice as many millenials are thinking that they can early retire at 30 & end up going home to Dad & Mom when the going is at full stop. They are added burden to the would be retiree.

Misleading title. He claims to have retired at 24 when he simply quit working at a grocery store and created his own business.

“My plan was to simply enjoy life” seems to me to be a bland philosophy of life. For me, it is much more serious/important than that. You DID work hard to develop your skills. You DID make your dream come true. Good on you to have your wife stay home!

But what did your wife dream? To stay at home?

I like my boss and enjoy commuting. And since I hate my family, I hope to work the rest of my life. This guy is clueless.

So quit your 9-5 job and work at home and call it being retired? LOL!

You have simply started a business you enjoy. You have not retired. You have redefined work as activities you don’t like. This is absurd.

I completely agree with Tim. Dan is self employed, he just found the right job for himself. The end result is the same, however... he is doing what he loves, whether watching TV and playing video games like I would like to do, or doing his art.
