I love the eggplant assigned pooling yarn. I just finished a triangular cowl with my skein. I have 3 skeins to make another, bigger shawl as well. Good luck with the Yarn Crawl!
So excited for you! I already have some days off so I can come "crawl" in Oklahoma like I do in North Texas! I have loved collecting stitch markers at each shop in Texas on the yarn crawl here while filling my passport. Something I did in the past and miss now was a instagram/facebook photo scavenger hunt where you took a specified type of photo in each shop posted it online tagging the crawl & shop to enter for a special drawing. I look forward to recording the crawl for my viewers too if ok with y'all?
The showroom is very nice. And to have a shop dog - love her! I always ask the stores in my yarn crawls to show me their crawl color. Having a check list of the shops is great too. But I’m probably telling you nothing new.
Hi Kim, please keep telling me your thoughts on the yarn crawl! We sure do value them! You've reminded me to do a crawl color! I hadn't thought of that, but, of course, we should have a special crawl color! Great idea! Tammy
So happy you have your new space. I’m excited to hear all about your yarn crawl. I like getting a little stitch marker or something with the shop name for each shop I visit. Some stores have a drawing and I actually won a set of needles one year from one of the shops at the Texas Yarn Crawl. Sounds like lots of fun and I can’t wait to hear more about it. Rachel S.
Hi Rachel, thanks for the input! We are working on our shop stitch markers. We plan on having many prizes available for the crawl. That's wonderful you won a set of needles! That was a good prize.
I have never done a yarn crawl but it sounds like a blast 😊

HI - I have never participated in a yarn crawl probably because I have never lived anywhere that had so many yarn shops. I came to your actual store over a year ago when traveling through; Tammy you were in the back with a customer and the gal working the front had a very strong non-English (Switzerland, can't remember) accent :). I knew of your shop through watching videos on your mom's channel and knew that if ever given the chance I would make an effort to come in. I purchased some yarn and a book, and then got on your email list as well. And now I am awaiting what should be a beautiful first time advent :). It is good that you are continuing on with creating beautiful yarn and looks like you have a nice set up too. Maybe we should take a summer adventure and head back that direction for the yarn crawl experience; we shall see. 😊
I'm so glad to hear you came to visit! Our new place is more focused on a dye studio, with a showroom up front. It's much smaller and more intimate, but the locals are loving it. I'm glad to be able to visit with everyone in person again. If you do come again, please pull me aside and say "Hello". We're hoping to make the Yarn Crawl something fun and special. So to close up eyelets, you do a single yarn over? For the first and last yarn over or for all of them? This is what I’m thinking on a cluster of 5 stitches:
Stitch 1 single yarn over
Stitches 2-4 double yarn over as Dawn Barker’s pattern calls for
Stitch 5 single yarn over
Does that sound right? This is so helpful!! ❤
Hi, I do a single yarn over between all five stitches. I also tend to pull it a little tighter too once I get them on to my left needle. I pull some of the slack. Try the single yarn over instead of the double yarn over.🙂 Tammy
