It's normal in Asia in fact in Asian culture. When we call our friends from their house specially we girls do it we don't scream like dying horse. In fact we politely knock on their door or call them on phone to open the door. We go in the house to meet their parents ( aunt or uncle anyone) we greet them a polite hi hello. It's very common for our parents to ask us till which time will we come back and which friends of us are gathering together. We don't feel offended. In fact we answer honestly. It takes only five to ten minutes. Sometimes some of auntie offers to drink something. Sometimes we reject the offer politely and sometimes if we have enough time and appetite then we take the drink and go out with out together. People reading this might think it's a huge thing. But actually it's very normal for us and we always do this. All of my friends are like this. I'm from Bangladesh, not from China too. But my Chinese and Korean friends told me that it's their culture too. I'm completing my Masters degree right now. Still we always inform our parents about our whereabouts. It's our culture please don't say that this is something weird. It hurts us.
I love how the Chinese culture promotes femininity and simple beauty! I have always tried to be this way after my "tomboy stage''. I can be simple, beautiful, and hard-working. I don't have to act tough or pretty. The American culture is sad.
