To be as happy as a dog in a pickup should be everyone's goal in life
Wow someone who gives a really good example of how to raise meat birds, build a cost effective mobile coop, and how to protect them without wanting to charge them a “membership fee”. Keep up the great work your doing and helping pass along great information.
I love the way you trained the dogs, and they are so happy and cared for.
Yeah that was brilliant, I'm going to have to work with my boys on something similar.
Thank you so much for teaching people dog etiquette! I am a former horse trainer, and much of that training was socialization and teaching them how to be around people and be safe while being handled. How to stand, how to walk on a lead rope, how to pick up their feet, how to deal with being washed and groomed, how to stand while tied, how to stand and be tacked up, how to load and unload from a horse trailer. I was a ground trainer and as you can tell I basically taught 2- and 3-year old horses how to act around people. I live in the suburbs now and it shocks me as to how many people think they can let their dog run wild, bark, and be a nuisance because they view their dog as a kid (a spoiled kid) and failed to teach their spoiled pet any manners. A dog that yaps / barks / or jumps on me is a clear indication that the owner is clueless and has no respect for other people.
Nice to see well trained dogs!
thanks for reminding how important dog eticate is! SO NEEDED for all dog owners...
I'm getting chickens next year and this is one of the channels I'm using for research before hand. Great informative videos.
Hey Josh,
You say nature is all about circles.
Others say it's all about squares.
But it's neither the square NOR the circle...
It's the SPIRAL that gets you to the top of the stairs!!😅😅
~ Brother Dave Gardner
You are a good personne, you, respect your animals . This is just beautiful.you will be blessed.
I appreciate how you train your dogs. Their very lives could depend on their obedience. I don't have a dog. I'm allergic to most common breeds. But I have trained my 4 chickens to come when called. Again their lives could depend on their obedience. I want them to understand to come immediately at command. If I see a hawk or other preditors while they're out in their run I need them to get to their enclosed run immediately. The only time I ever call chick chick is as I'm going to their enclosed pen. They come running as fast as their little legs carry them lol they know they will get treats. Then I pet each one and tell them thank you for obeying. They just get so stinkn happy when I praise them. But they're safety and the safety of others is paramount.
Thank you Josh! Great and best presentation of the Premier 1 electric net I've seeing as brief as posible!
If you want to square or rectangle it you can roll it off and walk it like a square/rectangle every certain amount of posts, and while you haven't set them up, cross the net over the one laying in the ground, continue until you match the other end. Also, to have a safer joint of its edges, I prefer to pass one from the other as far as the connections allow, that way you close the gap in between them. Then, when you want to walk through them just swing open the interior post of the two closing the net, because is easier for humans to break an obstacle than for animals lol. Then close the opened post back after so no chicken are lost!
The dog training lesson was good, would'nt mind to see more of that .
00233241907125 let me here from you
I built the same chicken tractor and I love it.
Dude I really do like the way you have them trained
You did an excellent job training your dogs!! its so important
Yes it is! THank you!
This is one of my favorite videos. Woo!
Keep the videos coming. Love your ideas!!!!! Farming is the life that fuels the soul!!!!
I saw this no shock on their website was hesitant about it glad you're testing it out first 😂
this 100 ft net I like !! :), I really think that the more space the birds have the less stress they get etc.
Great video. Good to find someone close by that I can relate to and learn from.
I had a lot of questions answered today watching this video. I will come back to it when I get my electric fence and equipment. Thank you so much.
Nice job Josh. I’ve got only 7 chickens 🐓 but are totally fun to keep. Just bought two more baby Buff Orpington’s there great. They follow me like like dogs where ever I’m working there great. Nice vlog 👍🏻
always thought birds living in their own poop was gross and cruel, love this set up . SOLD , and thanks
I have 5 pooping on my porch, no problem..A tarp w straw or hay is easy enough if they're in a constant sport like nesting..mine sleep in the Avacado tree! Gotta start over..
Alohaa
Oh my goodness!
I can use this fencing for my garden!
PERFECT solution for protection of the chickens. And, you didn't have to work yourself to death.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing. Except how can you protect them from hawks?
that place is so beautiful reminds me of south england in the summer
josh keep in mind that truck bed gets hot enough to burn there feet keep a section of carpet in back of truck to keep it from getting too hot .
yep...good point...but it's not that hot out today...despite my chubby sweat lol
Or a piece of plywood. On ours we keep a sheet of 1/4" 4"x8", it protects our plastic linings especially if I carry an aggressive load like a condenser unit that has the metal bottom pulled by gunned nails or tapcon screws to the concrete (nails are worst pullers by powder). So I don't scratch my bed much and a sheet of plywood doesn't hurt much. I bet your dogs will love your plywood or, they may go for the warm metal spot at times. Look how they stayed right by where you were driving, so funny and loyal at the same time!
Mostly we have we have hawks and owls that get our birds and even our cats. One hawk that keeps flying around is almost as big as a chicken. All my neighbor’s ducks are gone, picked off one by one.
Yup. Best thing you can teach a dog is not to jump. Even a little lap dog needs to learn that. We love out shepherds but jumping up is a nono and they know it. Our big boy we lost last year was 120lbs.......we didnt mind him protecting the property but as soon as we acepted company he knew better to not jump on them.
The man is full of wisdom and common senses, fund to watch
wow! excellent tips!
I'd often wondered how to move the chickens under that shelter...thanks!
the tips about training dogs are so good too...I know someone who macerated her farm dog with an agricultural tractor....emotional devastation! then she had to clean the mess...not nice
Note that "night" means different things to different animals, we lost a hen to a fox about 5-5:30 PM last week. It came back about the same time 2 days later and was seen in the field about the same time the following day. Don't know what will happen if the birds (all adults) hit those 5 joules I'll be picking off the hotwire on an existing field fence.
Great video! Educational, entertaining and motivational! Thank you, Josh, for spreading your knowledge and goodwill
Thank you very much for your time
Thank you for teaching me how to do train a dog out the back of my pickup
Good job Josh. Would like to see more about your garden
Omgeeee this is awesome, you my beautiful brother are a genius, i sure wish i was inclined enough to build things Ike this on my homestead
basically a great video. love the bloopers. good work josh keep them coming.
@stoneyridge ,excellent content .You always teach people the correct way .Keep the videos on going .best regards from South Africa.
Great video Josh, that looks like and excellent product. I’m watching the questions about hawks and such as well.
My goats could care LESS about electric fences. Had one that would make my arm go numb for hours. The goats would scratch themselves on it, and walk through whenever they wanted. You could see it jolting them, and they wouldn't miss a beat chewing their cud.
Really cool, great farming, thanks
Excellent system you got there.
if you have a set amount of fencing the most space you can get out of it is a circle.
Thank you so much for the video. 1st time viewer :) I've always owned big dogs boxers, Great Dane's, black Russian terriers... And I've been an avid hobby Trainer with them for their entire lives. I love what you've done with your dogs :) great job. Every time I see someone being dragged down the street by their Pit bull or whatever I really want to get out and teach them a few tricksThat would probably change their lives and their entire dynamic with their dog. Of course we had a friend With a great shepherd crossThat was wonderful indoors but even as an old dog was highly dog aggressive and the hardest dog I've ever had pull on a leash ( And I just told you the giant breed dogs I've had over the years) Well after some short burst training with just myself my boyfriend and their dog (no owner) We demonstrated to the owner perfect walking and heeling skills With a Pronged collar for a tool (no go, cruel, their baby bla bla, )... OK went back to demonstrating simply Using body language, stopping, distraction, treats & positive reinforcement. Walks Instantly became so much More enjoyable for everyone Including the dog! Then came Another dog in the distance... No reaction so owner Calls out the presence of the dog... I was mortified when he began to egg the Dog on ( Whispering watch that dog over and over) untill he got the reaction he wanted... Pulling And aggression. Then I realized that was a trained response And they really didn't want the dog to not act like a psycho on the end of a leash. Just wanted to share my story that sometimes owners Knowingly or Unknowingly reinforce a bad behavior, And Teaching them proper techniques is simply a lost cause. I miss training as I'm without a dog for the 1st time in 45 years! Soon though… very soon ;)
Would love to see how you trained your dogs for unloading from the pickup truck!
The best way is to build a safe place to close at night for the chickens to sleep and lay eggs and let them free to roam and chase insects.
foxes will eat chickens day or night my friend that's for sure...seen it!
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer You my need some dogs chicken friendly.
Basically I like your videos😎
That's a nice old Ford you got there.
You are quickly becoming one of favorites! loving your vlogs! 🗣 whoooo! 😂
Very interesting and informative video. Do you have issues with hawks when your birds are out of the coop?
LOL. Stoney, another awesome episode. Love watching the channel and learned something new again. Thanks!
It’s basically a great video! Lol 😆
We love you Mr Stoney ridge ❤️
Another Great Video! Keep up the good videos of your meat birds!
Another great video Josh, thanks. Great work with the dogs, awesome! We have 3 boxers and help when ever possible with Boxer Rescue of Texarkana. It would be so great if most folks would stop buying dogs from puppy mills and support their local rescues. One of our local banks (Bank OZK) is putting on an even to help our local animal rescues and its called Dogs for Dogs (their selling hot dogs and donating money to the rescues, great stuff their doing). anyway God bless and keep up the great work.
Nice ! Little Brother! U , have good Dag's
Great video on the fencing! Love the blooper reel!!!
Yeah I had a dog little Pitbull that just jumped out of the back of our truck going down the road thankfully we were only going maybe 30 miles an hour but he landed right on his head and flipped over a couple times I hurt him he yelped pretty good. Never did it again after that though LOL.
I love your channel so much!
How do you handle airborne predators? My daughter-in-law had chickens and real problems with Hawks. She no longer iives where she can have chickens 😞, but it would be nice for future reference.
The chickens get a good life on your farm. they get to be chickens, better than being caged in a shed.
U should have a rope the radius of your circle so you don't have to guess on the fence
Love the dogs ! Great video Josh !
Thanks for the video homeboy
Love the fence.
Awesome: job with your dog's
a very good living environment for chickens
The bloopers are gold 🤣🤣🤣
You got all the coolest toys!!...I'm so jealous..lol...nice ass farm only getting better!!...
Thanks so much, just got three Olive eggers.
Wow so much great information!!
I know there's risk involved in anything, but Ford that easy pickings for hawks?
Thank you for your videos. I'm learning a lot on this new journey. Thank you!! What kind of chickens are you growing for meat??
Hi..... 🎥👍👍👍
Informative video. Short and to the point. Good job
This is so simple. Cool.
Too cool. Good job.
Great information! Thank you.
Like this concept
We had a setup like that for our birds, and it worked well.... but I hate chickens so anything to do with the birds I had a disdain for
Excellent review on the fence, they should be paying u. Im ordering a fence rite now! Cheers
Premier One Shock or Not fence wire
I LOVE your old truck !
Your dogs are so adorable, I still remember they killed neighbor's cat and chicken..? Puppy were looking so guilty......😃😃😃😃 I had similar cases with puppies. Our puppies digged up my mum flowers lawn, bit orchid plants, partially our faults, don't know how to care and provide proper space. I was 14 yrs old.
What do you raise on your farm?
Me: little velociraptors
You've got great dogs, too! GSDs are the best!
I want that old 79 Ford. Nice old truck.
Now this I like unwrapping new stuff.
That is so hot for the chickens
Can you add a shade cloth over the roofing materials.
I Basically enjoy your channel
Basically....basically...basically...basicaweediewhoopoooooo!
Thanks so much for your videos, fun to watch and great for getting ideas on how to engineer/build my own mobile tractor coops with self-contained electrics and such. Appreciate it, brother!
I second the question below about aerial predators, we have a LOT of turkey buzzards flying overhead here. Currently, in our stationary coop, 15x15, I have an overhead netting to keep the bad birds out. Our Cornish X birds seem to have a pretty good built-in defense instinct of running inside the main shelter when the big birds fly over. Is that enough to save them?
This was great and it helped me alot on what i need to get and do.
Thanku
Great training 🤓
God bless you stoney
This is like a buffet for hawks
I feel like raising chickens now.. lol.. 👍
Nice job, keep it up
