Made it 11 seconds without saying dark souls
Lmfaoo fr
Well, I mean the devs even said it themselves the game is a 2D Metroidvania inspired by Dark Souls
It makes you feeeel like Spider-man
waitwhat ? It makes you feel Blasphemous
@S Y N T H G U N not every game needs a sequel
Avoiding the spikes is more stressful than some of the boss fights lol.
Exactly
Now that's a fact
Same goes for hollow knight
Oh yea, I find the platforming more difficult than the combat.
Also great when you cannot collect your marker, so it is just there...
New players if u see a hint of snow in ur first playthrough when exploring an area just back off and go someplace else. Return to the said snow area after like beating one or two bosses.
- When you respawn your health and flasks will be restored but your prayer bar will be empty, before leaving the altar hold circle( or it's equivalent) to fill the prayer bar as much as you can, then use the altar again to restore your health, this way you only lose tears of atonement to refill the prayer bar. This is specially useful later on the game when you already have most upgrades and items and don't need the tears to buy them.
- Recovering guilt restores some health and prayer energy, so if an enemy killed you don't recover it as soon as you get to it, wait to kill the enemies to restore some health without using flasks, and in the case of a boss fight leave it there until you need it. The only exception is that boss fight where you have to constantly climb up.
Duck, dive, dip, dodge, and duck.
You forgot Die
A lot
Patches O'Houlihan approve this post 😂
I'm still curious why (IGN) gave this game a 7. It's absolutely magnificent!
Absolutely right.... This game is simply great even (or because) i've died about 20 Times in some Area
The spikes deducted three points
The game had quite a few bugs in release but those are fixed and this game is now a solid 8 out if 10 for me, Im not really into the metriodvania genre but no game can't and will not ever surpass hollowknight
@@boxerheadninja4281 Ya know... I really cant argue with that. Hollowknight is a masterpiece in every way. But even though they're both a metroid/vania game.. they're both soooooo much different in every way, so it would be hard comparing the two. I'll just say those two games are my personal favorites.
Because they are 🏳️🌈
These aren't even tips it's just the tutorial from the game spoken out loud.
Yeah, I came here to learn about what actually happens with the death mechanic, or where to fill bile jars. Not some of the most basic milquetoast advice ever spoken to somebody. Common sense is more helpful than this video.
Haha the game has no tutorial and does t tell you any of that. Especially filling empty bottles with blood. I know it’s fun to hate IGN but Jesus man
@@nicholasnajibi3082 it really is common sense tho like this video didn’t help at all lol
Comments here are extremely useful as always
Blasphemous is my first metroidvania (I don’t play video games often) and it’s apparently harder than most M/vania’s and I’m loving everything about it. Well most things.
Forgot to mention the Righteous Riposte: after a successful parry, while your weapon is coming down for the strike, tap the attack button. This does a TON of damage.
Another tip: if you hold down the button for projectiles, you consume tears of atonement and some health to recover some fervor. Use this a ton at shrines before Boss fights to have a full fervor and health bar
Thanks for the tips and also for reminding me to download the game.
Best game out right now and your review (IGN) was awful
JazzeThrasher PREACH!
If this the best game out right now, then gaming is in a sorry state. Blasphemous is an average game (at best) with a cool aesthetic. The combat is bland, the platforming is tedious and there are technical issues and bugs.
You are awfull...
bizmonkey007 saltyyyy
Yuri Unlucky
You mean accurate. Blasphemous isn't Hollow Knight or Dead Cells, that's for sure.
If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball
I can’t wait to get this game!
The part where he said it's best to run past/avoid enemies instead of fighting them, to conserve health, he got hit. Twice. Running past enemies 🤣 around the 1:20 mark
I want to get into one of these 2d style metroidvania games. Any suggestions which one will be best for me? I never played metroid or the older castlevania games. I like to start with one that is fairy simple but fun.
try hollow knight
@Ewolf5150 but if you stick to it, it's one of the best. but yeah it is a bit in the start
Hollow knight, all day long
Metroid and Castlevania both come to mind.
Hallo IGN,
I play the game on pc with a keyboard.
I wanted to ask which button I need to press to fall through the ground?
Would be very nice if you could answer me
S + Space but you've probably figured that out by now
WOW thanks IGN
Really want this but already have many on the list control, cathetine , greedfall,ff8 remastered
idk if blasphemous would be classified as 16bit. Looks closer to 32bit games on saturn and PS1.
2D platformer? Definitely a 16bit vibe.
Firstly, this game is a 10/10 (Perfect combat, bosses, design, music etc..)
Secondly, those are subpar tips.
You figure these out by yourself?
The world in this game is called Orthodoxia?
IGN i been watching you forever and all those years you inspired me to start my own channel , because of you am getting some fans and i wanna thank you , i wish one day i will get that many views like you , thank you
wut ?
Game - 10%
Pitfall/spikes - 90%
Metrovania games nowadays are nowhere near castlevania
Game looks so dope.
Dude.. It's awesome!
Is this game a Metroidvania?
yes
It is a metroidvania dark soulish great game.
Yuppity yup Mcyup!
@Obed Blas and dead cells
Yes it is.
5 tips for Blasphemous:
1. Play the tutorial.
2. Play the tutorial.
3. Play the tutorial.
4. Play the tutorial.
And 5. Play the tutorial.
Thanks for viewing our 5 tips on surviving the dark world of Blasphemous.
Yeap , quite self explanatory, I never felt like it was unfair I just had to wait and observe
Have played it on keyboard?
Could you say me how I can jum down through the ground?
Is this on pc?
@Danny Dircio sweet
if churches was this awesome
I'll probably recommend you a "5 tips for reviewing correctly" If you ask me
Lust94 Agreed...
Reviewing correctly? What does that even mean? A review is opinion based.
@@nickhotaling270 Oh, I thought reviews were meant to be objective and not the type of "Hmm, I didn't like the colour of the last boses eyes! 5/10"
They are activists not game reviewers, what did you expect.
TIP. Hold the A button to change life for mana. You welcome
We're really excited about playing this!
5 tips for surviving Blasphemous for casuls
The camera shake on every hit throws me off. I hope I can disable it.
u can
7???
Forza 9.6 lol
forza is cool
The game have a Bloodborne vibe
Is there any way how to pass the first enemy? The contols are so slow so you cannot avoid his attacs.
This is terrible and useless. How is "avoid enemys" a tip worth being in a 5 tip video?
Some games highly benefit you for killing enemies and do not make it a chore, whereas in Blasphemous it feels more like a hassle, slows you down and can end up draining your life substantially if you mistime a parry or a dodge
I have 1 tip: avoid IGNs reviews.
Terrible tip. Avoid there reviews why? Because you say so? Nah, piss off.
yes, avoid them, but here you are.....
Dark souls? Ever heard castlevania ffs, if one game is diffucult is dark souls
nah, i reeaaaaaally enjoying the difficulty of the game, for 9 HOURS AND I LOVE IT!
Dear Netflix. Forget that convoluted inane castlevania and make a tv series around this . Ty.
More akin to bloodborne actually
You gave this game a 7 when steam gave it an 9 -___- and now you guys are still reviewing it. Blasphemous!
1:40 or......
very hard game!
How hard? Darks souls hard?
SUPER STATUS not as hard but let’s say dark souls is a 10, blasphemous is a strong 7.5 - 8 imo. I also think the combat mechanics in blasphemous are top notch , and not just for a 16 bit game, just in general.
@@platypus8697 Ok. Im buying it bcuz of you! Lol
Git Gud
Lol because this Is so much more positive sounding than IGN’s own review
IGNs review wasn't all that negative. Grow up. Who cares what they think, if you like it, then don't let anyone ruin it for you. In other words, be an adult.
Nick Hotaling grrrrr get those keyboard claws out
Fun fact: the difficulty of a game in no way should affect its critique rating
not a funfact but certainly the truth
Parry simulator...
Thank you, next
Too bad, looks great
You can play the whole game without using parry even once
@@lorax1274 You'd have to be a master dodger and jumper to *never* have to use it. It's like a Soulsborne game -- although you don't need the parry too often, sometimes it's more helpful to actually know how to do it properly
Gamebreaking bugs everywhere!!!! There are points in the game that delete progression (items) or corrupt your save, or softlocking...Wait for a patch!!!
Stop comparing every hard games to dark souls!!! You guys r born yesterday?
The similarities go beyond just difficulty; when you die, you need to collect your "soul" back; Prie-dieu = bonfire; Sitting at a prie-dieu replenishes your health potions and makes enemies respawn; Dodging gives you i-frames; Parry mechanic; Everytime you die, your mana bar decreases; Most of the lore is hidden in collectibles' descriptions; Your character is cursed with immortality.
Hollow Knight, Salt And Sanctuary, & Blasphemous are the closest games to the Souls-Like genre that there ever was
@@LaughTalePainting Well said man.
@@LaughTalePainting Salt & Sanctuary?
@@jeffnussbaum716 Totally forgot about it! Fantastic game!
just... obvious things?
Not that difficult. Already completed it
How was it?
If dark souls was a 10 in difficulty, what would u say blasphemous is?
How long did it take?
Νot difficult at all, I can't be arsed to think of a number but I wouldn't even say it's hard in any way but maybe that's because I really like Metroid venias
SUPER STATUS 7 at the most.
These are tips??
Lmao 😂 I know
git gud
Lol literally is nothing like dark souls, more like bloodborne
Only tip you need: Git Gud
This game is too damn hard
Sounds like this guy hasn't played this game properly
So the bald man is a boss
This video was not helpful to me and I didn't like it but I'm making this comment anyway which just boosts engagement and incentivizes IGN to make more crappy non-informative time wasting hand waves of videos like this. Smh
This is way harder than Dark Souls lol
Pro tip......slide attack block slide attack jump attack!!!!!!!
here's a TIP: USE TRAINER...
PIRATE!!!!
Wasn’t even 15 seconds in and there’s already “Dark Souls”. Don’t get me wrong, I love Dark Souls, but can you actually try describing a game without going for the low hanging “catch all” term?
Chris's C
Blasphemous is heavily inspired by Dark Souls in terms of story, themes and even gameplay design. That's just the reality of it. Obviously, it also piggy backs on classic Metroidvania titles, but ignoring the Souls inspiration is silly.
bizmonkey007 that’s a lot of words to say, “I don’t mind lazy journalism”.
Chris's C
No, it’s an accurate description of the situation and why every reviewer who has played the game is making the comparison.
bizmonkey007 It has health flasks, a souls based currency system, retrieval mechanics, it’s heavily gothic, bosses with heavy patterns and mechanics that must be learned, expansive but somewhat hidden lore, etc.
I dunno man doesn’t sound like dark souls to me :p
But seriously you couldn’t be more right, it’s obviously greatly inspired by the dark souls series. All the reviewers are calling it souls like because it genuinely is.
Nick Gerald Estus
Flask = potion
Bonfire = check point
Bosses that drop items = ALMOST EVERY GAME BEFORE AND AFTER DARK SOULS
Bosses with patterns to learn = Every game before and after Dark Souls as well.
Weapon upgrades = Pretty much every video game before and after Dark Souls.
Souls = currency
Should we call Souls games Castlevania-like simply because they both share gothic and medieval themes? No. And, it’s the same thing here.
None of these things are what makes a Souls game a Souls game. These are simply easy grabs to say, “It’s like Dark Souls”. None of these things are new conventions. And, none of these things being present in a post-Souls game makes it “ Soulslike”.
Thanks for reminding me I need to uninstall this pos.
Well this is useless lol
Unforgiving? Hollow Knight was way more challenging in terms of enemies and level design. Blasphemous is on the same level as Castlevania 3 difficulty wise, not Dark Souls. Learn the pattern you win, the level design is fair and challenging. The only thing in common with Dark Souls is the cryptic story and the item lore. Even the puzzles and cryptic riddles are more Castlevania than Dark Souls.
I haven't played the game yet - but these "tips" seem pretty basic to me!
Lmfao of course they compared it to dark souls. It's literally the most unoriginal video game comparison out there. Just because a game has a wee bit of difficulty does not make it like dark souls!!
It has bonfires, estus flasks, corpse retrieval, lore in item descriptions... Of course there'll be Dark Souls comparisons.
Nice game, but nothing like Dark souls or Difficult.. This game was easy!
hardest game ever. i quit
The only thing this has in common with Dark Souls is the art direction.
