    At the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, our purpose is to build a Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people are becoming deeply committed Christians. We have a vision to be used by God to change lives, strengthen churches, and transform the world. And we are on a journey to know, love and serve God.

    This preacher speaks my mind. I may just cross (not the Tiber, but) town and attend the UMC. My Episcopal parish is rapidly dying off, sadly. I may just cross (not the Tiber, but) town and worship with the UMC. My church is weak on orthodoxy to make room (not for women and homosexuals, who are fully accepted) but for former Catholics and Calvinists. Wesley preached a middle way and showed us in his ministry and also his failures how to live in Christ.

    Our church is voting 10/31/22 on whether to remain UMC or become Global. We are a small country church and it’s causing a split in our church. My husband and I have been praying for guidance then found this sermon and now have clarity on how to vote - stayUMC. GOD gave us insight on how to vote after watching this video. Praying other members find their direction on how to vote. Love how God talks to us.

      @gary buchanan you seem to contradict yourself. Is the best discernment of God’s word, judgement of another? Jesus did not condemn the social outcasts, he chose to meet them where they were and minister to them in a caring loving way. “ Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.”

      @gary buchanan The thing is gay people are made that way. Their sexuality is no more a choice for them anymore than your’s is a choice for you. I am not gay and I am happily married. As for your views, those are

      Is it not the whole purpose of the Christian church to allow sinners into church so that transformation through the grace of God and the life of Jesus can happen? If we only accept Saints into church, then what is the point of redemption through the Resurrection? What is the point of evangelism? The point is not to preach to the choir but to the people in the streets!

    • @pop-upprayerwithpapaa8250
      @pop-upprayerwithpapaa8250 Рік тому

      @gary buchanan The most conservative behaviors that followers of Jesus can practice is loving all people in the same manner they claim to love God and themselves, for it is impossible to claim to love God while targeting any group for discrimination. The LGBTQO community is revealing true followers of Jesus, who follow the teachings of Jesus, and those christianists who follow their prejudice. Jesus also taught the way you want to be treated, followers of Jesus have to extend the same to others. So if, for example, you want to be treated with respect and dignity - you’ve got to practice respecting the dignity of all LGBTQO persons and their community. It’s really that simple.

    • @pop-upprayerwithpapaa8250
      @pop-upprayerwithpapaa8250 Рік тому

      @gary buchanan I’m sorry that you’re sinning against the LGBTQO community and cannot respect people. Actually, those who don’t respect the LGBTQO community do not respect that they are made in the same image and likeness of God that you have been created. If God is so threatened by homosexuality and homosexuals, that’s a petty God. Are you equally condemning divorced heterosexual who remarry for they are adulterers according to Jesus, the living Word of God. If you want to condemn people from the First Testament then you better be practicing all the laws other wish Jesus condemns such people as hypocrites. Jesus also taught to take out the log out of ones own eyes in order to see the speck in someone else’s eyes. And didn’t Jesus teach, do not judge lest you be judged by the same standard you judge others? Most people are followers of the teachings of Paul and never seem to be able to quote Jesus. Sure, Jesus talked about marriage, but that doesn’t mean he’s sanctifying marriage. When people try to superimpose their beliefs onto the teachings of Jesus, they are only projecting what they believe and their biases onto Jesus. I can tell you that the LGBTQO community do not hate Christians - they’re exposing their hypocrisy which those Christians hate because they love their self-righteousness while refusing to practice unconditional love for one another and all people.

This will never stop. Pastor Adam, what is the definition of the word, “woman?” If a same sex couple wishing to marry were a father and his son, would they be able to get married by UMC clergy that are currently doing same sex marriages? If so then should we allow Polygamy, maybe 3 or 4 men to marry?

    Whatever decision is made my hope is people remain in a church. The saddest outcome of this will be people making a decision that leaves them not a member of a church. When this decision to change the doctrine first arose I knew that the very small percentage of gay people in the Methodist church would not care that their desires would cause a divide for a large majority of members. We are there now. We can only hope that we have not divided people away from God and sitting alone in their homes on Sunday mornings. Remember this was not a change about being members. It was a change to allow a minister to marry gays in the church and for gay people to be ordained as ministers. Approval of a marriage that is not between a man and a woman. Gay marriage has already been approved out side the church by our every increasing secular society. Now what was once considered a sin is now condoned by approving this act of ordination and marriage. The gay pastor will come to your congregation and by their very presence in a ranking position tell your child it is OK to not follow God's guidelines of marriage will be between a man and a woman.

    You don't preach on those texts? You should. To simply write them off as "old time stuff" or "not fitting in with the rest" is anti-intellectual. Deal with why they are there and what they meant in that context and the principles that are universal. To say that they are essentially throw away verses to be put in a bucket validates the position that the entire Bible can be tossed into the bucket. Why not throw the resurrection in the old cultural bucket? Or that Jesus is the Son of God? You can expand this ad nauseam to every topic.
    This is the core doctrinal problem. You create an attitude that we know best and dismiss what does not fit our present views. It ignores the possibility that God might have higher ways and thoughts. It ignores the struggle to wrestle with the full character of God and the reality of sinning against Him
    Because you do this, people remain ignorant and trapped in their sins.

    so this pastor swears the the book of discipline will not change for the UMC if u stay, then his other videos say the language about sexuality will be deleted. sounds like "change" to me. he swears doctrine will not change, yet the UMC already has those who deny the virgin birth, deity of Christ etc. he swears the nicene creed will be believed. thats what the episcopal church said yrs ago, yet they had bishops like john spong who said Christ was a "sinner" and denied ALL the essential doctrines, yet he continued to say the "creeds" every sunday. to him "virgin" just meant "pure of heart". so the future UMC will allow anyone to redefine what words mean in order to stay "unified". while the gay issue has been improperly dealt with by the church in the past, i dont see how u can call a man inserting his penis into the crap hole of another man "holy" and something to be celebrated by the church. . sorry to be so blunt, but nobody get the point unless u ask the question in this way. there are videos on youtube of drag queens in the pulpit and teaching children. theres no such thing as holding to the view that "theres good people" on both sides of this issue, or that the future UMC will continue to "tolerate" traditional views. creeds are meaningless unless all agree on what the words mean. did Jesus go after the rejected and social outcasts? absolutely! people were mad at Jesus for eating with the sinner zacchaeus. Jesus accept him and forgave him. and zacchaeus repented and gave back FOUR FOLD to anyone he had stolen from. the woman caught in adultery was rejected by the religious folk, but after her encounter with Jesus she CEASED that lifestyle and followed Him. just 10 yrs ago the gay community screamed for us to accept them because they said God created them that way. so we accepted them. then after we did, they started the transgender crap and advocated surgery to change their sex, including children as young as 6yr old. well so much for accepting what God created huh. if you want me to accept "what God created" then why are u changing the way He created you?

      @@caman171 I first attended a UMC when I accepted Christ at 15. I didn't have a driver's license and it was the closest. I now attend an EFC. The people who took me in, taught me, lifted me up and discipled me would grieve greatly... as they headed for the nearest door seeing what has become of their church. I have an older sister who calls herself a "progressive" United Methodist. She told me that the Bible is now fluid and that it can only be discerned as it applies to us today. She also claims that the scripture was only writings that were made by fallible men so they cannot be trusted. Much of the OT is folklore to her. I told her that if she could not trust the whole Word, that she cannot trust any of it. I too ache for the days I remember when all denominations came together for God's purposes. 😪

      @@caninecodependent well i am so glad the "progressive" agenda has not infiltrated Baptists for the most part. to hink of all the money, blood, seat and tears ive poured into a church and then it turns against the truth would be unbearable. of course there are some cultural things that can be "fluid" such as women wearing head coverings etc, but the truth of the Gospel and the definition of sin can never change. if those things change, then that church is no longer "christian" in any sense of the word. they should just go ahead and declare themselves universalists and at least be honest. I dont understand why those leaving the UMC dont join the Wesleyan Church, because they still believe what Methodists used to believ and the structure is already set up. so glad to know u are in a church where truth is still the goal!

      I find your dicription of anal sex pretty disturbing. How do you feel about a husband doing this to his wife? How about oral sex? How about molesting young girls or boys? Priests molesting alter boys. There are all sorts of people doing this.

    I have been watching both Adam's series of videos and also those of Rob Renfro. Personally, I find Renfro's comments insulting and condescending. He uses the Q word as a term of derision and persecution. I am PROUD to be "Woke". Thankfully. most of the race and gender hatred self resolves with the death of older boomers that learned this kind of discrimination at the knees of our parents and grandparents. The younger generations reject this kind of tribalism and bigotry. If we wish the Church to be relevant in 20 years, we need to grow....or die.

      @@willleonhardt3827 My salvation is thru faith in Christ. I am saved thru his blood on the cross, not my obedience to a set of commandments. Like the line in the movie regarding the definition of woke, I don't think that word means what you think it means. My definition of "woke" accepts that people are born different and that God commands us to love our neighbor and that means everyone. I judge no one and accept everyone, regardless of their race, gender, religion, or gender status. I suggest you re-read your bible and find out what God really says about life. Peace.

      We’ve been talking about (in America) the younger generations solving the modern problems for generations now. I am not sure where this Messianic generation of America is going to come from. I instead look to the actual Messiah, who speaks and acts very differently from the United Methodist leadership.
