  • What about using bioidentical estrogen PLUS progesterone for menopause management? How does it compare with using dietary, herbal, botanical, or non-bioidentical, synthetic pharmaceutical forms of these two hormones? Is it easier to balance estrogen and progesterone to protect your uterus against uterine cancer with bioidenticals or more difficult? So confusing, isn’t it? Watch this video and clear up that confusion.

    My reply: I love your videos. Learned alot. I'm not 30, 40, or 50 I'm almost 80 YEARS OLD. Window of opportunity is SHUT. I have a good sense of humor, I've forgiven Drs mistakes they destroyed my career, health, and chances of marriage and sex. I will dab some bioidentical on once in a while. I'll proceed life in eating right, exercising, socializing, smiling, getting Dr Check ups, keeping my good sense of humor, look pretty and clean. I can't see how you could really help at this point. I've been a survivor all my life. I'm a Realist and will practice being a sweet little old woman. God Bless you💙❤️🧡💚💛💜

    I have been on Bioidentical HRT after reading your book. I highly recommend it. What you are saying is so true..My OBGYN (women)would not give me a prescription for it therefore, I ended up going to a Bioidentical Specialist Doctor who was cash only and a guy which I am not usually comfortable going to ,BUT he was very thorough took a lot of blood test ,asked a lot of questions.,wanted all of my medical records.He was surprised by how much I knew.I told him about you, and your book. My Bioidenticals are not covered by my insurance and cost about $35.00 to $40.00 each., They are a life changer for sure,and worth every penny. I cut corners on my monthly budget to make it possible financially. Menopause for me has not been easy because of my other health issues.
    💘 your book..it's a must for every women over 40 years. I keep mind next to my bible.

    I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your videos--I am binging on them and learning so much! I have been struggling for years with peri-menopause. But I have been so afraid of taking hrt because of my history with severe depression related to my menstrual cycle. I was diagnosed with PMDD at one point but have always had really bad pms. Now I'm 51 and really want to take HRT but the progesterone component terrifies me. My doctor thinks I may be sensitive to progesterone because of my history and has told me the IUD would be a good option but I am not ready to make that commitment yet. I researched all of the options on your list and was most excited about the Crinone 4% gel and the studies I found about how it wasn't systemically absorbed so women didn't have all those bad side effects that come with progestin. My doctor even said she would be willing to prescribe it if I could live with the risks since it's not as well researched as oral synthetic progestins but come to find my insurance won't cover it anyway and it's very expensive. Wondering what you might suggest for women like me? Thank you for all you do! I have never felt more empowered about my health and my future.

    Dear Barbie!
    Fantastic videos, i am learning so much from you, i am in post menopause since last july and started to be on HRT, i made a lot of different examinations before starting to be on Cliogest, i immediately felt much better, a bit bleeding, but that went away, about 1 month later, i felt a bit of tension in my brest and changed into Livial, which has got less estradiol and i suddenly felt all my symptoms, (hot flashes, moodiness and so on...) so started again Cliogest and now i feel perfect! So i think i needed the time to adjust completely to the hormones!

    Great information as always, thank you! My GP immediately wanted to prescribe an antidepressant. I told him that I did not want that and he reluctantly prescribed estrogen and progesterone. He would not listen to anything that I tried to discuss with him about heart, brain, and bone health and all he seemed interested in was prescribing an antidepressant that would help with hot flashes. Hot flashes, while incredibly annoying, are not my greatest concern when it comes to menopause. I found an ObGyn who is well-versed in bioidentical HRT and though I had to pay out of pocket for a consult with him (I'm in Canada) I am now waiting for my first compounded estrogen and progesterone prescriptions to be filled which, thankfully, are covered by my benefit plan. I do not trust my GP to provide proper care for me and my estrogen deficiency.

    I’m here late but this video is so informative. I went into premature menopause in my late 30s😟. I am 44 now, have not had my levels checked due to lack of insurance and I learned about some of this on my own. I thought I could try bioidentical hormones online and read a few research papers and journals to get an idea of how much and when. Well, I had something like a period every other month for the first 6 months. After that, I started getting little spider veins all over my thighs and a few on lower legs. I spoke to a nurse that said it may be from excess estrogen from the cream I was using. I stopped using them 5 months ago. I am working on getting insurance so I can go to a dr. and do this the right way but I’m scared that I waited too long. Moral of my story is do t mess around. Go to the doctor when you notice these changes so they can be handled professionally and personalized to your body. Thanks for educating us

    Hi Dr. Taylor, I’ve been doing a lot of research and reading and I’ve come across a procedure called BioTE Medical Pellet therapy. It is plant based synthetic estrogens combined with testosterone and its inserted in a small pellet the size of a grain of rice under the skin (subcutaneous) in the fatty tissue. It works for 4-6 months (+-) and its not covered by insurance. The doctor I have an appt with has said that it’s around 400 dollars for the hormones and 185 for the consultation. I know that birth control wasn’t covered by insurance, now trying to get well, this isn’t covered either. I’m bummed. I am also going to this physician to get a baseline on my hormones in my blood. I was hoping that this visit will start me on a path to righting my wrong body. I have researched nutrition, exercise, vitamins, herbal, and now I’m listening to you. Everything you have taught makes so much sense. I just wonder if this is something I could use and what if any side effects it may have. I think I have enough “effects” just not doing nothing right now!!! Thank you!

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  6 років тому +1

      BioTE pellets are marketed by the Alternative & Complementary community. They are not regulated by the FDA.
      As I've taught you, everything has both advantages AND disadvantages. BioTE pellets are no different.
      The advantages are that they're accessible by professionals that are NOT medical doctors, they are long-lasting, & they contain all three hormones.
      The disadvantages are that they're accessible by professionals that are NOT medical doctors, they are long-lasting, & they contain all three hormones.
      That's right: There advantages are also disadvantages. If you like them, great, you've got the for 4 -6 months. But if you don't like them, tough, you're stuck with them for 4 - 6 months.
      Medical doctors don't insert them because they aren't approved or regulated ... at all. You don't really know what you're getting. It's just like herbs. They're regulated by the manufacturer according to the industry standards for herbal products.

      Sheila,
      This is precisely the kind of thing for which I do one-on-one consultations. You definitely need one. No two women are alike, and addressing your situation requires tailoring all the facts specifically to YOU.
      I'm in the business of educating you about everything you need to know and do in order to get exactly what you want for managing your menopause your way. So, here's how a consultation works:
      1) You would schedule a one-on-one consultation at my website, MenopauseTaylor.ME, choosing a time that is convenient for you. I do consultations on Skype, FaceTime. Facebook Messenger, What’s App, and the phone. (But very shortly, I’ll have my own video platform embedded in my website.)

      2) I would send you an email to confirm that you are scheduled for the stated time, and invite you to send me as much information about yourself as you please. You can make it brimming with details and tell me about your reproductive life, any gynecologic problems you've had, your symptoms of peri-menopause, and your symptoms of post-menopause. You can include all your fears, concerns, and goals for your menopause management. You may also send me any labs, mammogram results, bone density results, etc. that you would like me to include in designing your protocol. If you want to adhere to a certain category of management options (herbs or diet & lifestyle, or whatever), you should tell me that. I will give you a 5-day deadline for sending all materials, and will not accept anything after that date.
      3) I'll get busy creating a document that gives you all the education you need to understand absolutely everything, points out the pros and cons of each option, and tailors it all to YOU, using the information you have provided. The document will be loooooong. Most are over 30 pages.
      4) I will send you the document by email 72 hours before your consultation. You will benefit greatly by reading it in advance. Light bulbs will go off like crazy, and if you're like most women, you'll feel that you've already gotten your money's worth.
      5) During your consultation, we will review the document and address any issues you want in order to fine tune everything and determine your best options. I'll tell you exactly how to find the right kind of professional, how to have the conversation in order to get what you want, and the nuances of things like guidelines and insurance. I leave nothing unaddressed.
      6) You will go to a professional of your choosing in order to get the actual hormones or whatever you choose to use.
      7) After the first consultation, I'll hold your hand (forever if you want me to). In other words, you'll be able to schedule mini-consultations (30-minute, in addition to full consultations) whenever you need to. I'll keep records of your situation. Most women schedule mini-consultation whenever they go to the doctor and don't understand what he or she said, or why. I translate. I make sense of everything. Most schedule mini-consultation whenever they have a new test and they want me to explain the results. And all schedule mini-consultation whenever their situation changes and they need to re-weigh and re-balance their options.
      The time you spend with me will make everything about working with any other professional so easy. And they will love the fact that you have an actual education rather than a bunch of misconceptions that you got from the Internet. If your initial hormone regimen is not right, you'll want to consult with me before going to your doctor. I can prepare you for what to expect and what to request.
      So, that's my role. And nobody else on earth does this kind of thing but me. So, I hope you schedule a consultation and let me hold your hand (figuratively).
      I hope to meet you soon!

    I am so hoping to find a recommendation of someone who can do blood tests and prescribe bio-identical progesterone, near Murwillumbah 2484 NSW, Australia?
    I am 69 now, and had a "partial" hysterectomy in 1987 (32 years of age).
    Recently I was told by a GP, that I do not have a cervix.
    All of the GP's that I have consulted over the years, have refused to prescribe bio-identical progesterone?
    About 19 years ago, I did find a GP (on the Gold Coast Qld) who prescribed bio-identical progesterone (10% strength, I think it was), and was on this for about 3 - 4 years; I have NEVER felt better, more well (like my younger self).
    I have moved from the Gold Coast to many locations over the years, and have not been able to get bio-identical progesterone again ... my health has steadily gone downhill (IR, fatty liver, +++).
    Hope someone can assist?

    Hi, Barbie. Love your purple outfit! Would you be comfortable sharing whether you use bioidentical or synthetic progesterone? I have a history of breast cancer in my family and little familiarity with uterine cancer. Perhaps it is more common than I realize, but with my immediate circle of friends, breast cancer seems to be more common. Thanks for all the great videos! 😘

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  7 років тому +27

      Fear of breast cancer is one of the biggest issues for women. That's unfortunate because what women should be fearful of is heart attack. One out of ever 2 women dies of a heart attack. Only one out of every 29 dies of breast cancer. Unfortunately the hype about breast cancer has frightened most women away from doing what they need to do most: prevent a heart attack.
      Your family history of breast cancer is another area of great misconception. The ONLY relatives that have ANY bearing at all on your breast cancer risk are your MATERNAL FIRST DEGREE relatives. Who are those? They consist of your mother, your sister, and your daughter ONLY. No one else matters at all. Most women include all their relatives in their "breast cancer family history," and are scared to death for no reason at all.
      I myself have tried both bioidentical compounded estrogen and synthetic estrogen. I do not take progesterone because I do not have my uterus. The bioidentical compounded estrogen did not work as well for me as the synthetic estrogen. So now I use a Femring, which is a synthetic pharmaceutical estrogen product that is also bioidentical (estradiol).
      I've tried all sorts of things over the years and I've always managed to prevent all symptoms of menopause beautifully. That's what I'm trying to teach you how to do, too, but in your own way.

    Dr Barbie, just in relation to the fact that hormones via transdermal patches bypass the gut and therefore don’t need to be processed by the liver - should we be worried about Prometrium taken orally? Is it safer because it’s bio identical and also micronised? If I remember correctly, I read a response you gave to another lady where you indicated Prometrium is both bioidentical progesterone and synthetic. I was taken back by this as I didn’t realise this and don’t understand the concept. It’s the only bioidentical progestogen available in Australia. If we only want to take bioidentical hormones and also want to bypass the liver, there are no options for available, at least not in Australia.

    Dr. Taylor, how do you determine if you need estrogen/progesterone? Does every menopausal woman need it? What type of practicianer should you go to for bioidentical replacement?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  6 років тому +8

      There is nothing that is right for every woman. What you'll learn from me is that no two women are alike. So, I give you the facts, teach you how to tailor them to yourself, and then I give you all the options in every category for managing your menopause: Diet, Exercise, Lifestyle, Vitamins, Minerals, Botanicals, Herbs, Acupuncture, Hypnosis, Hormonal Medication, and Non-Hormonal Medications.
      The key to this is watching my videos in order, starting with video 1. That makes it so easy for you to connect all the dots.
      The bottom line is this:
      The only reason you experience menopause at all is because you literally "outlive" your ovaries. Menopause is: loss of our female hormone estrogen. But estrogen is not merely a sex hormone. It's bathed every cell of your body since puberty. Your brain, heart, bones, skin, vagina, bladder, hair, etc. all depend on it. And, then, poof! One day it's gone.
      So, you need to COMPENSATE for all the great things estrogen did for your body.
      When you lose your estrogen, (just as when your body fails to produce any hormone - insulin, thyroid hormone - you have a long list of symptoms that make you feel yucky. I covered the signs & symptoms of menopause in video 11, after educating you with the foundation you need in videos 1 - 10.
      If you don't replace estrogen, you eventually have long-term diseases simply because your body can't live without it, just like you do with diabetes of hypothyroidism. I compared these deficiency states in videos 77 & 78. With estrogen deficiency, your risk for heart attack, osteoporosis, and Alzheimer's skyrockets. Without estrogen, your body begins to age, and if you don't start taking estrogen in the first 5 - 10 year so your post-menopause, you miss out on your window of opportunity to do so. I taught you all about this in videos 80 - 90.
      So, if you watch these videos in order, you'll learn everything you need to know to decide what's right for you. I have no product to sell you. All I do is educate. What I care about is that you have facts other than fears and misconceptions.

      So, in essence, your doctor is managing your menopause her way.
      You do not need sex hormone labs. They are worthless.
      I always caution you on using any doctor who requires you to get labs for determining the proper dosage of estrogen.
      It just doesn’t make sense for a doctor to rely on a lab to tell her if your estrogen dosage is adequate when all you need to do is listen to the patient.
      One of the most common questions women ask is, “What should my hormone levels be during post-menopause?”
      Let’s look at this from a practical perspective:
      Post-menopause is a situation in which your sex hormones (estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone) essentially fall to 0. So, if the “normal” levels are 0, how in the world does anyone say what level is desirable in post-menopause?
      Women are not robots. Hormone levels of 0 cannot arbitrarily be decided by a lab, a doctor, or you. There is no such thing as a “normal hormone level” in post-menopause when the normal level is 0.
      But your own body does tell you when your hormone level is right FOR YOU. If you listen to your body rather than to a lab or a doctor, whose “normal” levels are entirely fabricated, you’ll be a lot better off.
      So, imagine two scenarios:
      Scenario 1 is a situation in which you tell your doctor you are still having symptoms on your current dosage of estrogen. You still have hot flashes, insomnia, and brain fog. You’re still quite irritable. Your doctor listens to you, and says, “Well, those are all symptoms of estrogen deficiency. That means you don’t have enough estrogen. Let’s increase your estrogen dosage.”
      Scenario 2 is a situation in which you tell your doctor you are still having symptoms on your current dosage of estrogen. You still have hot flashes, insomnia, and brain fog. You’re still quite irritable. Your doctor listens to you, but looks down at your labs, which represent a single snapshot in time, and says, “But your labs are normal. Your estrogen level is just where I want it to be.”
      The first scenario aims to do what is best for you. The second aims to do what is best or preferable for the doctor.
      Your blood test is but a snapshot in time. It is not representative of your life. It does not show the rollercoaster that is creating havoc in your life. Do not put yourself in a situation in which your doctor is treating the lab instead of treating you. If you pay attention to what your body is telling you rather than what the lab tells you, you’ll be a lot better off.
      If you have a provider in the Alternative & Complementary community (Osteopath, Naturopath), they’re more likely to test your saliva for estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. It’s a more convenient, but much less accurate test. And all the same problems with believing you versus believing the test apply.
      Stay away from any professional who uses labs to determine your menopausal hormone replacement needs. Listen to your body. No lab can tell any professional more than you can based on your symptoms.
      Determining whether or not you are on the right dosage of estrogen FOR YOU is very simple:
      You are on the right dosage of estrogen IF:
      • All your symptoms of estrogen deficiency disappear
      • Your cardiac lipids (Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL, LDL) are stable
      • You do not lose any bone
      All three of these conditions must be met for your estrogen dosage to be adequate for you. If all three conditions are not met, your estrogen dosage is not adequate.
      So, all trial and error efforts must last two months before you can judge whether or not something works for you with regard to symptoms. Your annual or semi-annual lipid panel will indicate if your lipids are stable. Your bone density test will indicate whether or not you are losing bone.

      You can do it either way. There isn't a right or a wrong. The same goes for progesterone (which many women prefer to take at night because it causes drowsiness). It's not a matter of what you "should" do. It's a matter of what you "prefer" to do or a matter of what "works best" for you.

      Debbie,
      Your situation is not complicated, but it is too complicated to address here in the UA-cam comment box. You know that I've been known to write volumes here, but only when that serves to address your questions properly. That's not the case for the question you've posed.
      It requires a one-on-one consultation in which I can address all your specifics and take everything into account. Are you able to schedule one? I can really help you understand everything and tailor all the information to YOU.
      If you want a consultation, go to MenopauseTaylor.ME to schedule one. I do them on Skype, FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, as well as in-person.
      You can include all the things you want to cover when you fill out the form, and then send me any labs or tests you've had. That way, I can incorporate everything into the session. And when you schedule it, I'll also ask you to tell me some more information that will affect your management. Then, I'll create a personalized document addressing all your concerns, and send it to you at least one day before our session. That way, you'll have time to read it in advance. It's usually 6 - 12 pages long.
      Then, I'll have all sorts of props and models to show you during the consultation, and we'll make great headway. You'll understand everything and have all the options tailored specifically to YOU.
      This is what you need. I'm sorry I can't do it justice here.

    Wonderful tutorials, Menopause Taylor! AS a 54 year old with a uterus and still menustrating (skipping a month here and there), I've been able to get my gyn. and family dr. to work with me on starting bhrt. From what i read, I decided to go with estradiol patch (generic), and prometrium (capsules)..for the past 6 months.. my question for you is I started very low on the patch (.0125 twice a week) and taking prometrium (200mg)in a cycling manner (days 12-24) each month. I do want to have a monthly bleed. I was having light periods every month as I'd wanted, but last month i skipped my period. Since prometrium is great for the heart, etc., but not so much for the uterus, can I also, in addition, take a prometrium suppository that is more targeted for the uterus? Since I skipped my period, my family dr. thought maybe I need more estradiol (not make enough lining), so I upped it to .0125 3x a week. I do feel a difference in that I can sleep better and mood improvement. Thank you!

      I'm wondering if I now need estrogen. I started bioidentical progesterone cream from a compounding pharmacy a couple months ago and it seems fine and I don't have as many mood swings, but now I haven't had a period since and my hair is thinning at the crown, my nails are brittle. I don't think that is from the progesterone, so I think maybe I need estrogen. Doc said to stay on progesterone (I took a break to see if I would start my period and did not). I go for my annual check next month, so I wanna be prepared with notes and questions. I'm deeply saddened about my glorious hair. I know that may sound vain, but it hit me hard. I'm playing this game, this guessing game, but I have to admit- I don't care for this game. But, I will be fine and always am:) Just having a teeny tiny pity party today. lol

      3) I'll get busy creating a document that gives you all the education you need to understand absolutely everything, points out the pros and cons of each option, and tailors it all to YOU, using the information you have provided. The document will be loooooong. Most are over 30 pages.
      4) I will send you the document by email 48 hours before your consultation.
In other words, you'll be able to schedule mini-consultations (15-minute or 30-minute, in addition to full consultations) whenever you need to.

    Firstly thank you for making your videos! I have been recommended a doctor to see for bio identical hormones, but he’s expensive lol.. so I wanted to ask the question.. if my mum had breast cancer (20 years ago.. she was on HRT at the time) will this specialist allow me to take bio? Thank you 🌟🌟

      I have no idea if that particular specialist will allow you to take HRT.
      But the FACT is that no one ever proved that YOU cannot take HRT (bioidentical or otherwise) if SOMEONE ELSE had breast cancer. They is something that has been extrapolated by fear. At most, if YOU YOURSELF have had breast cancer, you may have a higher risk of recurrence with HRT ... but maybe not. It's up to each woman, her physician, and their comfort zones to decide.

      Alicia,
      I can help you really understand what to expect with different options and different courses of action if you schedule a one-on-one consultation. You can do so by going to MenopauseTaylor.ME. Do not leave this to chance. Learn the ramifications of continuing or stopping HRT NOW.
      2) I would confirm that you are scheduled for the stated time, and invite you to send me as much information about yourself as you please. For instance, if you want to adhere to a certain category of management options (herbs or diet & lifestyle, or whatever), you should tell me that. I would need all these things at least 1 week before your consultation with me.
      3) I'll get busy creating a document that gives you all the education you need to understand absolutely everything, points put the pros and cons of each option, and tailors it all to YOU using the information you have provided. The document will be loooooong. Most are 25 - 30 pages.
      4) I will send you the document by email at least 24 hours before your consultation. You will benefit greatly by reading it in advance. Light bulbs will go off like crazy, and if you're like most women, you'll feel that you've already gotten your money's worth.
      5) During your consultation, we will review the document and address any issues you want to fine tune everything and determine your best options. I'll tell you exactly how to find the right kind of professional, how to have the conversation in order to get what you want, and the nuances of things like guidelines and insurance. I had a Novasure Uterine Ablation and Essure implant in 2008. How does this effect HRT?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  4 роки тому +3

      The ablation removed your inner uterine lining. This means you do not need progesterone.
      The Essure changes nothing. It involved plugging up your fallopian tubes. But your fallopian tubes have nothing to do with anything except functioning as a highway for egg and sperm to meet for purposes of fertilization. You'll enjoy video 7 on Anatomy.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  4 роки тому +1

      @Sally Anne Correct. A uterine ablation destroys your entire uterine lining, so it no longer exists. If it no longer exists, it cannot react to HRT. So, your risk for uterine cancer is almost as low as if you'd had a hysterectomy. (The other parts of your uterus can still get other types of cancers.)

    Wow this was great and so informative. Thank you so much. In this video you compared bioidentical to non bioidentical hormones but what about the difference between bioidentical pharmaceutical homones and bioidentical compounded hormones? Would that be covered in the next video? Also, you mentioned that bioidentical progesterone is worst for uterine protection than non bioidentical one, but does it(the bioidentical one) still offer better protection than if we didn't take any hormones ( I hope that makes sense). I truly appreciate all your hard work,thank you again:)

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  7 років тому +2

      Bioidentical progesterone that is not compounded is very predictable because it's herbal. And all herbal products are unpredictable, much weaker, and unregulated. Compounded bioidentical progesterone is more predictable, stronger, and more regulated. But pharmaceutical progesterone is the most predictable, strongest, and most regulated.
      If you want the most control and predictability over what you're getting, go with the pharmaceutical progesterone.
      And, yes, bioidentical progesterone does protect your uterus MUCH better than not using any hormones.

    • @JuicyJuice1313
      @JuicyJuice1313 7 років тому

      I guess I didn't ask the question in a right way...I was thinking of the comparison between compounded bioidentical and pharmaceutical bioidentical (not herbal) :)

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  7 років тому +4

      Compounded bioidentical is not as regulated. It can be contaminated, adulterated, and inconsistent. It's regulated but the Alternative & Complementary standards that treat it a "herbal" of "food."
      Pharmaceutical bioidentical is much more regulated (by the FDA) and meets very strict standards.
      So, if you take bioidentical compounded hormones you can't be sure that each pill or each batch is the same. But if you take pharmaceutical bioidentical hormones every single pill is identical.
      Theoretically, your body should have the same reaction to both in terms of side effects. It sees both as identical to its ow molecules. There's not a better or a worse. It's all a matter of preference. Some women respond better to one than the other.

    How do we get these products from compound pharmacy if our doctors won’t prescribe it?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  5 років тому

      That's the Catch 22. You have to find a doctor who will prescribe them. Typically "Integrative Medicine Doctors" will prescribe them. They are usually M.D.s who have switched to Alternative & Complementary Medicine. See if you can find one.
      The reason most M.D.s won't prescribe them is because they are not FDA approved. Compounding labs are independent entities with no oversight. You really don't know what you're getting.
      The Alternative & Complementary professionals don't typically prescribe any FDA-approved medications because they are not M.D.s. They do not have a medical license.

    Do people have to use progesterone with their estrogen if they have had a full endometrial ablation?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  28 днів тому +1

      Whether or not you need progestogen after an endometrial uterine ablation depends on how “complete” the ablation was.
      A "complete" uterine ablation destroys every morsel of your inner uterine lining. In this case, you will never have any bleeding ever again, and you do not have to take progesterone.
      An "incomplete" uterine ablation fails to destroy every morsel of your inner uterine lining. This is common with fibroids or anything that distorts your uterine cavity. In this case, regardless of whether or not you have bleeding afterward, you do have to take progesterone.
      Any remaining endometrial lining is still at risk for endometrial uterine cancer.

    Menopause Taylor, I just went in for a physical and asked the nurse practitioner some questions about when I should go about seeking some bio identical hormone treatments. I told her that I'm only experiencing some mild symptoms such as insomnia a few times a month, acne and some slight weight gain, she then proceeded to tell me how bad bio identical hormones are for you and that there is a reason women go through menopause and we shouldn't be adding estrogen and how it's been proven to increase dementia later on in life. She then told me that it's usually only women who don't take care of themselves that eat junk food and have gained a lot of weight that end up having a difficult time. I'm so frustrated with the health care system and lack of quality care for women. I'm hoping to move soon and will be looking for someone different in a different state. My biggest concern in the future is the weight gain, moodiness and lack of sleep. What did you do to combat weight gain because you look so good!!

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  7 років тому +4

      Oh my goodness! What a poorly-informed Nurse Practitioner! Ask her what the "reason" for menopause is? The fact is that the IS no reason for it! We're all supposed to be dead! There are only two other animals on earth that have a menopause: Pilot Whales and Killer Whales, and it actually serves a purpose for them.
      But Mother Nature's plan for us (and all the rest of the animals on earth) is (1) birth, (2) reproduction, and (3) death. Once we've fulfilled our reproductive obligations, Mother Nature has no more use for us. The only reason human females have menopause is because of all the scientific and medical advances we've made to extend life. So, no, it's not natural, and there is no reason for menopause.
      Go find another healthcare provider. It can be like finding a good husband. Don't settle until you fid someone you absolutely love. It should be a beautiful partnership in which you know that your provider is going to work with you on YOUR terms to help you manage YOUR menopause YOUR way.

      The male exposure is irrelevant.
      As far as comparing them, it all depends on YOU. That's why consultations are so critical. You absolutely HAVE to tailor everything specifically to YOU. No! Of course not. They have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with one another.

    Is there a preferable time of day to use estrogen, progresterone and testosterone?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  4 роки тому +4

      You can use then whenever you want, but try to keep it at the same time of day from day to day.
      Some women like taking progesterone at night because of it's side effect of drowsiness. But it's really more like a sluggishness that lasts beyond just the nighttime sleep hours.

    May I ask if it’s a good idea to take few days break from both as our body changes every month when we used to have period so follow that concept with taking both only for certain days (maybe 21 days) to mimic our body?

      It's like any other over-the-counter progesterone cream: Completely unregulated, very weak, unreliable from batch-to-batch, and fairly harmless.

    Where should one apply bio identical HRT cream? My doctor said to put it on my inner arm or belly and rotate site of application each time. I’ve read online it can also go in the inner thigh and back of knee. But I’ve also read that it’s best to use the same site each time, always put it directly below the belly button. And now I’m reading it can be transferred to someone else if it’s on my arms and I hug them. Does anyone know if Dr. Taylor has covered this? I’ve been watching her videos and haven’t heard the site of application mentioned. Thanks!

      Jill,
      PLEASE, schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME. You have so much misinformation.
      All topical estrogen products should be applied to the fatty areas of your body (abdomen, butt, or thighs). They are best absorbed through fat.
      But your knowledge as described in what you wrote is coming from some very irreputable sources.

    I have been watching your very informative videos. Thank you for sharing so much information. I asked my Dr. About HRT. I am 58, with my last period 4 years ago. She is worried about plaque breaking off. She reluctantly prescribed me what I requested...the estradiol 0.05 transdermal and although I asked for micronized progesterone 100mg daily, she said I needed 200mg daily. She also gave me a estradiol vaginal cream .01% twice weekly. I have them filled, but have not started. I am nervous about the plaque breaking off and the 200mg of progesterone. What are your thoughts?

    I am 41. I have had a full hysterectomy, and the pharmacist and Dr. put me on a estrogen, progesterone, and a very low dose of testosterone bio-identical cream. Any side effects for testosterone? She said it was for energy and strength.

    I didn’t here you say what the standardized ratios are for compounded bio identical progesterone to estrogen are. I’d like to know what the ratio of progesterone to estradiol on a blood test should be? I read one place that said 10 to one estradiol to progesterone. My estradiol has been higher than that, and I’ve got breakthrough bleeding, so assume my lining has thickened too much. Is that correct? What do you suggest? My doctor likes my progesterone to be 2 to 4, and it has gotten up to 6, and still got the bleeding. I am 65 years of age, and haven’t had a period for maybe 15 or more years ago. This did happen to me back then, and had to have a dnc, then was put on a higher progesterone dose. I have a different doctor now. I really don’t want to have to have another dnc. I don’t think my health could handle that again right now. I have less breast pain on the lower progesterone.

    HI Dr. Barbie. I’ve been reading a book on Bioidentical estrogen. I just had my blood work done with a Dr. who believes in these. I have plenty of symptoms and hope that this may relieve many of them. The book is called Age Healthier And Live Happier/Avoiding overmedication Through Hormone Balance. It’s very informative and talks about HRT using Premarin and synthetic progesterone and how lots of women dropped using these after the scare in a magazine over cancer. I have been trying change of diet, exercise and herbal/vitamins but I’m still not living symptom free. I’m now game to try the bioidentical hormones. I have been having a lot of anxiety trying to get to sleep and also a hot (temp) body.....ha ha. I found this doctor on the website you have promoted and I hope it works well. If not, back to the drawing board.

      Maureen,
      Get this entire education. That's the first step. THEN form an opinion on what you prefer for management of your menopause. If you form an opinion first and get the education second, you've done it all backward. If reading a book on bioidentical hormones is your first step before getting a broad-based education on menopause in general and ALL the options, you're sabotaging yourself from the start. The same would be true if you read a book on hypnosis for menopause and then used only hypnosis, or acupuncture, or anything.
      It' bothers me when someone "believes in" some option for managing menopause.This is not religion. It's purely fact-based. Then you tail those facts to your personal situation to do what' right FOR YOU. No two women are alike.
      When someone "believes in" something they promoter then for everyone, regardless of that person's unique circumstance.
      I am not opposed to your approach. I just want you to get this full education. Then you don't have to shoot in the dark. It will all make perfect sense to you and you'll be able to make very wise choices for yourself.
      Watch my videos in order, starting with the very first one, and I guarantee you'll understand everything. Better still, if you can attend my senior, you'll get the entire education in just 2 days. I give the twice a year, and the next one is on September 22 & 23. I teach you everything you need to know for the rest of your life, and I'm not selling you anything. It's pure education (with a lot of laughter, props, models, fun, prizes, etc.) The great thing is that you SEE why you shouldn't care what anyone else is doing for her menopause. Every woman is different. We fill out an entire 7 page worksheet on YOU, and you have a document that you can use anywhere to make decisions for yourself.
      I want this to be efficient and easy for you.

    Hi Dr. Taylor.I am a bit confused. I am on .05 mg dose for the Femring. I thought I read that it needed to be higher to also have the protective benefits of osteoporosis, Alzheimer's and heart disease. Is this true or am I high enough? I am taking 100 mg daily of progesterone too. I am still in Perimenopause and will be 50 next year. Am I correct in thinking these dosages are okay till I actually go through menopause?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  4 роки тому +1

      The necessary dosage of the Femring is 0.1 mg. The 0.05 is only half the necessary dosage.
