Statement from Airbnb Spokesperson: “The listing has been removed from Airbnb, and the host received no payment for any bookings. Airbnb retains all payments made on the platform for up to 24 hours after check-in, meaning there’s recourse in the rare event of an issue on arrival. We use sophisticated technology to detect fake listings before they ever go live, and in 2023, we blocked 157,000 fake listings from joining the platform. As long as users stay on Airbnb and only pay and communicate through Airbnb, they will be protected by our secure processes, refund and support policies.”
Who do they know to get a documentary about a bad travel experience. If it happened to me the place would be in un rentable shape when i left. Take a big piece of cheddar cheese, wrap it in raw bacon, sprinkle some sulfur on it, and push it way back under the ceiling, an air vent or anywhere almost impossible to reach. A few weeks after the place will smell like a mass grave.
Any sort of AI - even just Photoshopping beyond basic lighting, etc., edits - should be entirely banned on every kind of rental platform and legit real estate listing. In Canada it's astonishing how many rental & MLS listings now use software to make their overpriced shitholes look livable, and it's infuriating that it's legal.
I only used Airbnb once in 2017 in Chicago and it was a nightmare because it was a illegal rental by a tenant who marketed it and it was a shared premise with the tenant as opposed to it being marketed as a entire private flat . I believe Airbnb should be banned in London considering how expensive and scarce the rental market is for locals and if we had a decent Mayor and Government they would put us locals first above tourists and Greedy Scammers!
