Don't feel sorry for him. He is an atheist who called numerous times pretending to be a dumb theist. They called him out on the blog years ago and he admitted it and basically left in their face for buying into him being fake.
Another great episode. Great discourse. This caller seems to live in incredible fear, perhaps constantly, and desperately needs to maintain certain thought patterns. I find this fascinating. I wish that aspect could be explored further.
This caller is a verified atheist pretending to be a theist. They outed him on the blog years ago. There was a group of atheists calling in to pretend to be dumb theists because there weren't enough theist callers.
Reminds me of the taliban. I have a feeling that if you gave these guys even an ounce of power in government, we'd eventually become Saudi Arabia for Christians.
+Grateful Apostate exactly, and the fact that it was so backwards and threatening to everyone should give people a clue that those kind of societies don't work.
Yes, I am also getting that impression. And although he seems indoctrinated beyond hope he also seems to have an inner conflict regarding the behavior of his church. He is not sure if its right. He senses it may not be. I think he is probably an intelligent guy. And, compared to a lot of other callers at least he is polite and he is not rude.
He seems to have a genuine interest for the truth, not just trying to justify his faith. But his genuine fear of the (supposed) punishment from above is keeping him from realising the absurdity of his beliefs. I feel for him, he can't reconcile his rational mind with his need to believe.
+Keine Ahnung Oh, don't forget about the jewish beliefs on which the christian and muslim beliefs are based on - just with a little "elitist" touch (other would call it racist)... I don't know if it's the slight distortion on his monotone, serious voice, or the constant use of "We", but does anyway else feel like Mark is representing some kind of hostile Alien force about to take over the earth?... :p

I love this show. Someone says "Our kids listen to you and your show without questioning"? The hosts respond with: "Don't have blind faith in us. Do the research yourself. Think for yourself. Don't follow me." Perfect answer.
I've got to say that I've watched almost every one of these on UA-cam and this has got to be the best one I've seen. great responses from the hosts. I love this episode!
It literally made me feel like crying just now when he said they would disown their kids then sit with them and discuss the show. Never has it been more clear where the truth is NOT.
No need to cry this guy is an atheist who used to call pretending to be atheist and making theist sound as dumb as possible because there weren't enough callers. He was called out years ago and he admitted it on the blog. He's called under a bunch of different names
No he laughs after the show because he's an atheist and a troll that used to call the show pretending to be a christian. They called him out on it and he basically left in their face on the blog for giving him so much time and so many different calls when he's not even really a Christian
Teaching kids that they are so unworthy that they deserve eternal punishment for no reason except for being born is sick. The place should be under investigation
any parent who throws out a child of minor age for not believing as they do should be arrested and fined to crippling effect. The right to religion does not include child abandonment. Shame on those who think this is okay.
Agreed, although the right to religion is a right for ALL, not just those that have come of age. Therefore, throwing their kid out for not believing as they do would be going AGAINST that right.
No he didn't draw the short straw. This guy is a verified atheist pretending to be a stupid theist because him and his group of friends thought that there were not enough theist callers. He came on to the blog and said that they were going to continue calling until more theists started calling. He was pretending to be from like Stone Church and his name was Mark and they're actually was a mark from Stone Church and Matt ended up talking to him and meeting him. But this guy is 100% an atheist
I went to high school with a girl like this. She worked up enough courage to ask me to the prom, and I knew back then that I was an atheist, and that I was gay. Going to prom with a fundamental Christian woman was just the exact opposite of what I ever wanted to do. I ended up telling her no, and after she insisted on knowing why, I said I was an atheist. For more than a year, she tried to convert me, and she used these exact scare tactics too.
Daniel Tinker There was only one out guy at my high school, and he he got beat up on at least three occasions. So, I didn't come out until I was at university.
Kaleb Adams Then you could have come up with something else just as effective. "Already made plans", "Don't know If I'm going", "I'm taking your sister/cousin", be creative next time.
I was about to feel sorry for this guy but then I realized he teaches his kids the same crap. This is what someone who is in a cult sounds like. His preacher or leader of his church could get this guy to do or believe anything...ANYTHING. that is scary.
Did some of you guys watch the whole video? Because some people are saying that Mark was a respectful theist that engaged in a honest civil conversation. Um did you hear him say that he thinks the hosts are repulsive? Is that civil or respectful?
This goes beyond mere indoctrination. He is a great example of cult brainwashing, in which not even the possibility of being wrong is allowed to enter his mind, so frightened he is of losing that identity. If it can be a crime to make outrageously false claims in advertising, then religion should be no different. This hurts people.
So let me get this right.... I provide absolutely no sound proof of my existence. I will not provide ANY proof, but if you don't worship me then I will torture you forever and ever. Also you must follow what I say without question. But I love you and want you to spend forever in my house worshipping me.
"Why do you believe?" an honest answer would be: "Because it was forced on me when I was a child through psychological manipulation and I already invested too much emotional energy into it to give it up. It also provides me comfort, especially of my community, that I am too scared to lose." instead, unfortunately, the christians come with all sorts of less honest excuses...
No that's not going to happen because Mark is a troll and actually an atheist. He admitted it in a blog post years ago. They banned him from the show and he called in with a bunch of his friends under different names. They literally would laugh at the hosts for buying into their bullshit.
It is a sign they know they do not have the truth when they are afraid of anyone finding out . The truth welcomes questions , because it makes it stronger .
~ "My church" and the word "basically" and "charisma" still nonsense and meaningless eight years later. Thank you again, Tracie & Russell! Cheers, DAVEDJ ~
Mark isn't even a real theist. He is an admitted atheist they used to call pretending to be a stupid theist. He was caught years ago and even taunted the hosts on the blog. He would call in just to make theist sounds stupid because there weren't enough theist colors. He did it numerous times under multiple names
Well shit. And to think millions of people just like you have succumbed to delusion; via their worship of Jesus, and other's anointing of Muhammed as the prophet, etc. when a the while they really should've been worshipping this "He" you speak of. "He" be praised!!
Umm... What? I was quoting Shrek is love Shrek is life... I have no fucking idea what you're trying to say, with all the grammatical errors and what not. I'm an atheist, I don't know what you are. You say I'm succumbed to delusion, then say "He be praised". Are you talking about the guy on the phone? Oh my god, I am so confused... So confused...
My apologies, I'm guessing I just misunderstood your reference, I was responding to the "his church is love" stuff. I'm an atheist as well so I suppose this was just an innocent misunderstanding. I am, however, fairly competent, grammar wise, in as far as the English language is concerned, though I perhaps fail to take the time to type in as controlled a manner as I maybe should; especially when on my phone. Although I did notice that your response had at least one error as well ;) But hey, it happens to the best of us, as I'm sure you would agree. So again, sorry for the confusion and cheers.
Oh no worries man, that was my mistake. I tend to think that any communication medium which relies solely on text information, will probably always be susceptible to misunderstandings due to context.. I was just being a bit snarky when I made that statement, but I believe it was in reference to the sentence, "You say (I'm) succumbed to delusion...". I knew you meant "I've" in that case, but I admit I was just being a smart ass, so I do apologize for that as well :)
Actually this guy was an atheist and a prank caller he was outed on the blog and threatened to keep calling until they had more Christians call it was like this big thing years back. Russell directly responded to him
Hi all; i think that the young man Mark has shown great courage and initiative to engage the atheist exp. speakers and well done. This has demanded more courage than anticipated especially with the possible repercussions from his church. I do believe him to be absolutely transparent in his answers and veracity to it. This young person has shown great courage , so well done to him. I can only suspect that via communication and openness, a great education will be attain by all.
It's an odd dichotomy that someone would show such bravery in expressing the concept of hiding behind a delusional book. It DOES NOT MATTER how strongly they believe what they do, THAT doesn't make ANY of it TRUE.
yes, it took courage. It will take even more courage to think through the evidence and understand that he has been brainwashed. It is not shameful to be unable to break out of indoctrination. I can only hope he finds that courage, you can hear in his voice how difficult his own belief set is to understand.
It sounds to me like Mark is trying to convince them that what he believes is true. He cannot seem to rationalize that others may have different opinions based on reasoning. In short, he cannot see anything beyond what his church tells him. I will give him credit, he is probably sincere, he is probably a nice guy, and he is trying to reach out indicating he must have some sense that there are other ideas that conflict his and might be true. But yet when faced with these arguments he cannot reconcile them.
This is one of the creepiest calls I’ve listened to. This man physically cannot think for himself. Almost every single sentence started with “my church” “my church” “at my church” “the church”. This man is dead inside. His brain has been absolutely washed. It’s actually sad.
Actually this man is a prank caller and an atheist. It was confirmed by Matt and the other host years ago. He wrote on the blog basically laughing in their face saying he's going to keep doing it until they start getting more Christian callers. Him and a group of friends would call under different names and use terrible arguments like this video so the hosts could destroy them. So his brain is not washed he just trolled the fuck out of you and the hosts and everyone
This guy isn't even really a christian. He's an atheist that used to call the show all the time with the dumbest arguments to make Christians sound stupid. They found out about it and banned his calls and he used to taunt the hosts on the blog and him and his group of friends would call under multiple names. He's a big troll verified
This guy is actually pretty terrifying. He's definitely the type of person who would go out and kill innocent people if his preacher told him it was in God's divine plan
Does anyone know how Mark is doing now, in 2014? I have come to a place where I am rooting for him. He always struggles so much with these ideas and for someone who is as deeply indoctrinated as he seems to be, I have to admire his courage and willingness to venture into, what is for him, such dangerous territory. And he does it without any real anger or accusation, which is amazing. I really wish him the best and hope he finds his way to a nourishing and satisfying life, whatever that looks like for him.

2:50 "Would you worship someone who was going to burn your child to death?" I guess if that was the only way to stop him from doing it. The God of Abraham: terrorizing mankind into worshipping him since 600 BCE.
I see same things over and over again. Why is so important to know differences between believing and knowing?I will give you example:You can believe 2+2=5,or 6,but,real answer is 4,so if you don't know the answer it's better to say i don't know, not just assuming. That is religion, just guessing, not knowing, with guessing ,with wrong teaching you harm this world.
MsTommyknocker Imagine a world when people using the words,"i don't know" or "i don't have enough information to talk about it",that would be such a beautiful world, but today almost everyone has an answer about everything.

And yet, we now know that there are parts of the bible that are demonstrably false in a literal sense. So, no. The bible is not all truth.
The statement: " My church is fundamentalist, so WE have a very strict opinion". makes me really nervous.
Reminds me of the taliban. I have a feeling that if you gave these guys even an ounce of power in government, we'd eventually become Saudi Arabia for Christians.
Poodlekisses We have the history of the dark ages to illustrate what society looks like when the theocrats are in control.
+Grateful Apostate exactly, and the fact that it was so backwards and threatening to everyone should give people a clue that those kind of societies don't work.
"My church is fundamentalist, so WE have a very strict opinion".
Sounds a lot like Muslim extremists.
***** Rotfl :)
Poor Mark. He sounds like he could have some form of autism.
Either way it's sad the way he's been so ruthlessly indoctrinated.
Sorry. I have many Aspie traits myself... was just making an observation.
***** So?
*****
Grow the fuck up then.
'My church says...' 'My preacher says...' He doesn't seem to have any thoughts himself.
This guy scares the shit out of me
I'm pretty sure he ends up converting
He sounds like a borg. We, the collective, believe...
Amazing how similar the christian and muslim beliefs are . Same primitive source.
+Keine Ahnung Oh, don't forget about the jewish beliefs on which the christian and muslim beliefs are based on - just with a little "elitist" touch (other would call it racist)... I had some acquaitances (which didn't know each other): One practicioning jew, one evangelical christian and a salafist muslim - all three despised each other (based on the labels), but would have been bff because of the same (scary) bullshit they believed...
You are right. I forgot to mention that by source I meant the jewish beliefs. What a wonderful world it would be without these religions.
I don't know if it's the slight distortion on his monotone, serious voice, or the constant use of "We", but does anyway else feel like Mark is representing some kind of hostile Alien force about to take over the earth?... :p
Either that or the personification of Skynet.
I know, he is just scary, he sounds like the borg in startrek, I mean he has not answered one question, he just keeps say what the preachers have brain washed into him, I mean why would a god torture someone for using the free will he gave them, to me this man really sounds dead inside.
LOL
I was eating and I literally sprayed from my nose laughing :)
No, he's sheep.
Sounds like he's using a voice synthesizer?
It's so funny watching Mark try to tap-dance as he avoids answering the questions. ;)
I love this show. Someone says "Our kids listen to you and your show without questioning"? The hosts respond with: "Don't have blind faith in us. Do the research yourself. Think for yourself. Don't follow me."
Perfect answer.
This guy doesn't seem like he has complete control over his faculties.
His religion is in control of them .
Apparently he's an atheist who was basically fake calling as a theist
I agree!
No his church controls his mind
To every "what do YOU..." question, he answers with "WE believe...".
So very, very sad.
One of the best comebacks:
“Well, can I just burn your hand?”
He's called under a bunch of different names
that is more common than you would think, just goes to prove what POS christians are
@@thickerconstrictor9037 theists don't need others to make them seem dumb
“Would you worship someone who would burn your child to death?”
“....um, we also believe in heaven...”
Is it just me or does it sound like Mark has been and most likely will continue, crying after the show?
ShadeyBladey
Good.
+ShadeyBladey How do you know this? When was he banned?
He has been crying from born
No he laughs after the show because he's an atheist and a troll that used to call the show pretending to be a christian. They called him out on it and he basically left in their face on the blog for giving him so much time and so many different calls when he's not even really a Christian
Between 14:00 and 16:00 Tracie asks the most clear and compassionate questions that any fundamentalist needs to hear. Good work
I love the pauses when he gets asked a question he can't answer.
Mark sounds like he is of below average intelligence
Way below
Not to me. He's probably around average. But he has problems.
Maybe the damage religion has on education
"I don't understand your question...." Kind of sums it up.
Teaching kids that they are so unworthy that they deserve eternal punishment for no reason except for being born is sick. The place should be under investigation
You can hear him squirming every time he’s asked a direct question, which he tries to dodge by repeating what he believes.😂
any parent who throws out a child of minor age for not believing as they do should be arrested and fined to crippling effect. The right to religion does not include child abandonment. Shame on those who think this is okay.
Agreed, although the right to religion is a right for ALL, not just those that have come of age. Therefore, throwing their kid out for not believing as they do would be going AGAINST that right.
Man I feel so sorry for him.
It really hurts listening to him. It's like there is no humamity left. He is just a vessel for other peoples' thoughts.
Tracie totally stumped him with: why would you worship a god like that? Poor guy drew the short straw to call in
No he didn't draw the short straw.
@@thickerconstrictor9037 I don't believe you. I believe he lies. Even trying to listen thinking it's an atheist I find that claim unconvincing.
To join the flock, first you must think like a sheep.
Mark can't even start a sentence without "My church believes...". I doubt he's ever had an original thought in his life.
The Kids say, "Ask Matt he'll know!" lol gotta love kids who know bullshit when they hear it. "Pastor doesn't know, ask Matt!" lol
20:50 "they just use Matt, they dont think for themselfes" AHAHAHA that line just cracked me xD
Tracy bringing up Santa Claus was fantastic, really tied everything together :)
Why didn't you tell her you are gay? We're you not out at the time?
Daniel Tinker There was only one out guy at my high school, and he he got beat up on at least three occasions. So, I didn't come out until I was at university.
It would have better if you told her she was ugly. That would have ended it.
Old Man from Scene Twenty Four
I'm not going to be mean to someone.
Kaleb Adams Then you could have come up with something else just as effective. "Already made plans", "Don't know If I'm going", "I'm taking your sister/cousin", be creative next time.
Caller is a nice guy and i appreciate the way you guys humor him and treats him with respect.
I was about to feel sorry for this guy but then I realized he teaches his kids the same crap. This is what someone who is in a cult sounds like. His preacher or leader of his church could get this guy to do or believe anything...ANYTHING.
that is scary.
*21:38** the most priceless and epic moment of Atheist Experience*
Did some of you guys watch the whole video? Because some people are saying that Mark was a respectful theist that engaged in a honest civil conversation. Um did you hear him say that he thinks the hosts are repulsive? Is that civil or respectful?
Well, it's honest, if nothing else.
This sounds like the worst of the worst in churches and parents
So let me get this right.... I provide absolutely no sound proof of my existence. I will not provide ANY proof, but if you don't worship me then I will torture you forever and ever. Also you must follow what I say without question. But I love you and want you to spend forever in my house worshipping me.
+odashogun ... yeah, pretty much an invisible mob boss.
But my pastor says, I don't think he's ever had an original thought.
Can't give Tracie and Russell enough thumbs up on this one!! Right on
"Why do you believe?"
an honest answer would be: "Because it was forced on me when I was a child through psychological manipulation and I already invested too much emotional energy into it to give it up. It also provides me comfort, especially of my community, that I am too scared to lose."
instead, unfortunately, the christians come with all sorts of less honest excuses...
I love Marks calls, I think one day he might acactually understand what your telling him and finally get it.
Tracie is a cerebral boss and pretty to boot. My Girl
~ "My church" and the word "basically" and "charisma" still nonsense and meaningless eight years later. Thank you again, Tracie & Russell!
Cheers, DAVEDJ ~
These poor kids
Pissed Tracie is the best Tracie.
Ex-christian atheists have to be more forceful in calling out the mental torture christianity metes out on kids.
Stoned Church?
Love these clips!
Mark has been deeply indoctrinated. I hope his continued discussions with the Atheist Experience help him find his way out of religion.
Mark isn't even a real theist. He is an admitted atheist they used to call pretending to be a stupid theist. He was caught years ago and even taunted the hosts on the blog. He would call in just to make theist sounds stupid because there weren't enough theist colors. He did it numerous times under multiple names
His church is love... His church is life...
That's alright. I guess I shouldn't reference weird stuff on the internet, in a completely different context. What was my error by the way? Commas?
Oh no worries man, that was my mistake. I tend to think that any communication medium which relies solely on text information, will probably always be susceptible to misunderstandings due to context.. I was just being a bit snarky when I made that statement, but I believe it was in reference to the sentence, "You say (I'm) succumbed to delusion...". I knew you meant "I've" in that case, but I admit I was just being a smart ass, so I do apologize for that as well :)
His church is afraid of losing paying customers, that is the only thing that is important to him.
Actually this guy was an atheist and a prank caller he was outed on the blog and threatened to keep calling until they had more Christians call it was like this big thing years back. Russell directly responded to him
"we" "us" literally a hive mind 🐝
Hi all;
i think that the young man Mark has shown great courage and initiative to engage the atheist exp. speakers and well done.
Love how Pierre is viewing a idiots guide to evolution
thank you
It sounds to me like Mark is trying to convince them that what he believes is true.
@@thickerconstrictor9037 man what a great troll. He really got me. What an ingenious plot

Scary stuff, indeed. It sounds like he is indoctrinated enough to commit a monstrous crime we hear from time to time from sects.
Brainwashing
Step 2: Invoke guilt.
Step 6 Compulsory confession.
Step 8: Release from guilt.
"So they use Matt and dont think for themselves" says the bible thumper that doesn't think for himself.

Why is this guy surprised. This is how he and his buddies teach their kids to NOT think.
This guy isn't even really a christian. He's an atheist that used to call the show all the time with the dumbest arguments to make Christians sound stupid. They found out about it and banned his calls and he used to taunt the hosts on the blog and him and his group of friends would call under multiple names. He's a big troll verified
@@thickerconstrictor9037 wait... is this true? Lol
I think that guy's church needs a new pastor.
This is your brain on Religion.
My church this, my church that, my church believes blah blah blah. Wow he sounds like he is deep in the cult life style
That is some damned good programming!
Poor Mark...
It's actually a troll call. A poe
JackOfAllTrades Yeah, since making that post, I've seen it mentioned before that he turned out to be a troll.

I guess if that was the only way to stop him from doing it.
The God of Abraham: terrorizing mankind into worshipping him since 600 BCE.
why cant this caller just answer simple questions?
I see same things over and over again. Why is so important to know differences between believing and knowing?I will give you example:You can believe 2+2=5,or 6,but,real answer is 4,so if you don't know the answer it's better to say i don't know, not just assuming. That is religion, just guessing, not knowing, with guessing ,with wrong teaching you harm this world.

MsTommyknocker Imagine a world when people using the words,"i don't know" or "i don't have enough information to talk about it",that would be such a beautiful world, but today almost everyone has an answer about everything.
