The 50mm f2 Planer for this camera is the best 50mm I've ever used. It's nicer then my Summicron which at the end of the day, like every standard prime since, was a copy of the Planar's Double-Gauss design.
Gorgeous camera (I have a Contarex Super with the Planar 50/2 lens), but you'd think having the chance to shoot a camera that is at once a technical masterpiece and the reason Zeiss no longer builds cameras would cause someone who works at a camera company to have a case of the fizz. This was a camera that made even a Leicaflex look "basic" and was a technical masterpiece. I love mine, it's scary sharp and bright to look at, but it needs someone who is willing to care for it, and not just shoot it till the wheels fall off (a la Nikons).
@@efg7557 I hope my answer helps you to do what you want. If you have any other questions ask me, the Contax "Bullseye" was my first camera forty years ago, so I know it well, the only problem could be my memory. 😊
Да хрень полная...сделали обычный леечный затвор с брезентовыми шторками покрытыми резиной. А был то затвор как на Киевах металлический жалюзный, безотказный. Зачем изменили незнаю.

Short and entertaining video, thank you! Maybe you could also let us know the film you are shooting?
i noticed vertical banding in some of the photos, not sure what caused that.
looks like slight light leaks

Let alone the camera, It's black real Leather hard shell case camera bag was also very unique.
"Very" unique is redundant. Zeiss Ikon top-line cameras were awesome.
Question: Does this Contarex, or any Contarex, have a mirror lock up? thanks.
You mean leave the film exposed for any length of time? Yes. If I remember correctly it is the B setting in the exposure.
Yes, it has mirror lock up, if not you can't use the 21mm f4.5 biogon without breaking the mirror
@@alvaro5162 Thanks

I do have one Contarex like this but the photographic objective is blocked !!!
Probably the mirror got stuck. Push the advance lever all the way to the end and the mirror should drop.
