I'm still concerned that they will straight up ignore how Plagueis is supposed to fit into all of this.

@@LaraA55 Plageius essentially orchestrated the entire Clone Wars, starting from around this 50 year mark. Playing politics to set up discontent on specific planets so they would eventually separate. He is the one that basically gave the Trade Federation a monopoly over Naboo for example. The book is amazing, especially as an audiobook

Some of my biggest concerns is how it’ll “retcon” things we know about the Sith from this era. Will it stand true to Darth Bane’s Rule of Two? How will they face Jedi when their supposed to be in hiding? This is what really concerns me because it’ll take away from Darth Maul’s reveal of the Return of the Sith in Ep 1. Especially if we know what Sith were around during this time. Then it’ll really be stepping over things. 😬
We don't know if this person is "Sith" or not. Being a Force Sensitive person does not make someone a Jedi. Being a Dark Sider user does not make someone a Sith. Both the Jedi and Sith are "religions". Some child being angry and seeking revenge does not go against the Rule of Two at all. Let's not jump to conclusions before the show is even launched.

@@thebrowneyesofmandalore Absolutely could be the case. But at the same time, even if that does happen, when did that NOT happen during the Clone Wars. Ventress wasn't a "Sith", but was an apprentice being trained to possibly be one and there are other examples of this that "technically" would break the rule of two. I think the only way I'll be upset at this is if she declares herself a Sith, OR if anyone other than Plagueis leads her to the Dark Side
I dont even know if there is gojng to be any sith enemies whoch actually sounds lame i really hope its not going to be jedi facing ranged opponents or opponents with swords that are saber proof it would be such a cop out and no fun i need some sabers vs sabers

As for Ventress, Palpatine was planning on taking over and succeeding in destroying the Jedi, and he didn’t see the need to not have lesser apprentices that didn’t have the title of Darth, or Sith Lord. Usually when Sith did this during the Rule of Two it was to test their main apprentice like what Venemous did with Plaguise by trying another Bith.

My expectations are low, but hoping this is good. I miss good Star Wars, hopefully this starts it back up again.
Not only Rey Skywalker is the most well written Star Wars character such as having the greatest struggles and training (one second of her training regime is infinite time harder than what the greatest the Jedi Knights or Sith Lords has gone through in their training to become a full-fledged warriors), with greatest character development and in not only in Star Wars, but all of fiction. She is the most powerful duelist and fighter. Obviously the most powerful force user with unmatched potential too, infinite times more powerful than full potential Anakin Skywalker. Rey is also considered to be one of the most powerful character in fiction, some experts say she is levels above the One Above All. Her character’s writing and arc are considered to be one of the greatest outside of Star Wars, but also in cinema or all of stories.

Setting this 50 years before TPM is a huge mistake, if they don’t follow what we know to be happening in that time to the letter.
To be fair those novels aren’t actually canon…. And furthermore what movie or tv series in the history of tv and film have been exactly how the source material is?
Even one piece live action which follows it he source material the most closely has alterations

Plus the tv series might be based on the darth plagueis novel but with some tweaking to fit canon and this main character ends up taking the darth venamus role (this show is promoted to be dark)
Plus the writers for the sequel trilogy were men. They didn’t know how to properly make a female protagonist. Now that there’s a female director there MIGHT be a proper female protagonist

Isn't Star Wars, much like the Dragon Ball franchise, quite literally a redemption story, about the villain finding redemption through to the light side? Heck, there's even an argument that Ventress was "semi redeemed", or otherwise not fully dark and doesn't she predate Disney?

Those photos are from the leaked celebration trailer that they never released that is still prob floating around somewhere.
The filming on Acolyte has been done for months. Unless there are reshoots the only thing holding it up would be editing or adding in CG effects. So I'm not surprised it's coming out this summer.
I have to call BS on some of these "story leaks", as they sound almost identical to the SWTOR "disorder" trailer. So they're either fake, or Disney is copying off of Bioware's homework.
I have super low expectations and they always have been. My worry now is the rumor that the show runner/director (Leslie Hedlund) was the one who supposedly funded the case against Gina Carano to get her fired. Yeah, the same one who was against Lucas being in charge of star wars.
The green force user is likely Vernestra Rwoh who’s already confirmed to be in the show and is from the high republic books
KInd of weird for it to come out this summer and we haven't seen a single trailer for it or learned anything about it.
At this point, Theory, I'm like 60/40 that this is going to blow up in Kennedy's face. And, this is coming from someone's who's read 70% of all of The High Republic books and comics (currently loving, Cataclysm, and very much looking forward to reading the last novel of Phase Two, Path Of Vengeance; then reading the first book of Phase Three, The Eye Of Darkness, after, of course, I read The Living Force, which has elements in it hearkening back to the period of The High Republic), has thoroughly enjoyed the Animated series (Young Jedi Adventures), and is signed up to the website related to the open world video game, Star Wars: Eclipse. I'm most definitely invested, BUT, it's curious to me that this series takes place 50 years prior to Episode I, when the rumor was that it was taking place 100 years before the finding of, The Chosen One.

RIP Darth Bane and Darth Plaguis origin stories 😢
lol, I'm working on a comic with two twin force users based on my twin brother and me, the older twin force was able to use the force much more early and easier compared to his younger twin and shortly surpassed most other force users in his town. By the time the twins are 9 their town is under attack by a revival of the empire force, resulting in the death of most of the town, young force users who were deemed useful were kidnapped and the people who were left became slaves in their own town. During the attack, the twins and a few friends were on their way back to the town after playing training in craters not too far from the town when they noticed fire and smoke. After a quick observation from the distance, they realized what was going on. The older twin didn't hesitate to try and make a run back to the town to see if their loved ones were okay yet he was stopped by his friends, pleading with him to save themselves and get help then come back. They were swiftly interrupted by the troopers and surrounded, although some of the children tried to make an effort to fight back the only one seem to have success in killing or injuring a decent amount of troopers was the older twin after seeing the troopers close in on his younger twin brother. The older twin brother makes the surviving friends drag the younger brother to safety as he holds off the rest of the troopers. It wasn't until years later that the twin brothers meet again but on different sides, until then we follow the younger twin's journey where he struggles often but trains in the way of a Jedi, he loses, meets, and makes friends, enemies, and rivals, loves, and starts to age into a fierce and powerful Jedi.
I cannot wait for this series to come out so I can not watch it and just laugh along at all my favourite UA-camrs ripping it to shreds. This will be a bigger disaster than the marvels
Dear Lord, it is unfathomable some people here, knowing FULL well what Disney has been doing systematically yet cling to the notion that "this one will be the one", "this one HAS to be good", etc. It's like a form of Stokholm Syndrome !!!! 4:36 Idk if you’re being sarcastic or not but yeah, no, Jedi do not take children in without the absolute consent of the parent. Bringing any in against their will stands against everything the Jedi believe in, as does ignoring a suffering village simply because it doesn’t have anything worth their interest yet. If they take in an orphan, usually from the streets, it’s so to teach them to use a power that will otherwise bring them down into the Dark Side without proper guidance.
So if true then Palpatine would be 2 years old at this stage.
Plagueis is definitely around at this point.
Honestly, I hope they just leave Plagueis out of it. The rule of two would be in affect so I would imagine that Tenebrous would have to be involved as well. I think it would be best to leave those two characters out of this story for a couple of reasons.
Number 1: I think it would be refreshing to have wholly original story and new characters take center stage. Sure, Grand Master Yoda is going to make a cameo and they should just leave it there.
Number 2: Plagueis & Tenebrous are far to important characters to be introduced this way into live action. I honestly don't trust Disney right now to handle these legacy characters. But if they do one day decide to tackle Plagueis they really need to make him the main focus of the story.
Why isn’t yoda front and center? Or at least featured. He’d be 800ish.
The show does have really great setup but so did Finn and Kylo. So yea setup means nothing, execution is everything.

This doesn't break the rule of two. She's an "acolyte" of the sith, not a true apprentice. I suspect the Sith will only be shown as shadowy holograms and the main character will serve the role of Ventress. A useful pawn to create chaos but ultimately cast aside.
My first reaction when they announced Acolyte was "meh". But having seen some of the leaks, I'd say that enthusiasm has dwindled.
Not sure where I saw this but I remember reading that users of these 2 colors of lightsabers use both the light and dark
Orange lightsaber = leaning to the light
Purple lightsaber = leaning to the dark
Finally, you realized you should read or listen to the HR books. Most of them have been out for years now, it's already phase 3. About time you get familiar with the lore, bc it's actually not bad at all imo. I think you'll find the creatures, called the Nameless, very intresting additions to the SW lore.

50 years before the Phantom Menace is an I treating setting, I'd worry they would fall into the trap the Hobbit movies did though, where they try too hard to "foreshadow" the main saga.

Ok but I have already seen this premise, in Star Wars the Old Republic. You can literally see it in newest cinematic. Jedi takes sister but leaves brother who has less Force potential, brother gets sold into slavery and is rescued by group of renegade Mandalorians who toaght him to hate everyone, Jedi especially.
I hope this is going to be a good show considering that it's the first live-action series outside of the skywalker saga.

I just saw the trailer online, a bit blurry though
They are putting it that close to the timeline of Episode 1 because a leak came out a while back that this would rewrite the story of how Palpatine came to power. Essentially he steals power and control rather than having worked methodically over a long span of time to gain it.
These pictures are from the trailer shown last year at the celebration, they are real but they are not new. The leaked trailer is available on the internet somewhere if you want to watch it.
With the way Disney makes movies, these will probably have very little to be with the final. They literally make movies while their making the script, and the reshoots. I don't take these serious at all.
The pictures are from the trailer Disney released at Star Wars Celebration last year. I do not know if those videos are still on the internet, but I remember that Neimodian picture from that trailer that was leaked, so this should not be anything new, but they are definitely real.

Honestly, I just can’t seem to get excited about Disney Star Wars. They have all been huge disappointments. I feel like at this point it’s like trying to leave an abusive relationship.
If they are going to adapt parts of legends, this female dark side character could be being put through the trials by Darth Tenebrous. Tenebrous pitted Venomous against Plagueis. This could totally fit into and start to bring the novel into canon if done well.
The coolest character StarWars I've seen Disney create would probably be the Grand Inquisitor maybe Chirrut Imwe. None of this new stuff looks like it has that kinda of potential.
Pretty sure the 50 years thing must be a typo. There's no way the High Republic Era and the Galactic Republic Era leading up to the Clone Wars in the Prequels are that close together.
Having read and listened to Luceno's 'Darth Plagueis' more than a few times, I can assure you that DP is FAR too complex a character for the Elmer's Glue-eating connoisseurs at Camp Kitten to even attempt.

Actualy having blue lightsabers mean that you value skill in saber combat and you are agil. But the yellow means tha you are a devoted guardian of the order
Even if they were dead set on making the “force female” they could have done it in a slick way that wasn’t lame .kinda like the Aes Sadi can temper the force or Interact with it in different way or are less vulnerable to the dark side or something. Add some new lore and do the girl power thing but in a good way

I also thought the High Republic Era was supposed to be 200 years before TPM. I haven't read any of those books, but I'm having a difficult time believing that the Jedi would even make such a promise. It makes me wonder if those were really Jedi who took the girl. I seem to remember Palpatine going after Force-sensitive kids during the Clone Wars and sending someone to get the children, or did he go get them himself? I'm a bit fuzzy on the details. However, I do remember that person lying to,the parents and saying they were a Jedi.
My literal first question would be why didnt the jedi help the village thats literally against everything they stand for, their code and morals

This show has impossible shoes to fill, especially when Disney has a terrible track record. So bad in fact that it makes you wonder if they’re doing it on purpose or something because you cannot fathom how poorly they’ve handled the property.
After these many years of watching your work, I'm still amazed you still hold the kind of fun zeal I first did, back when I saw the originals.

Sidenote: I'm super unhappy with KK, Headland and those that simply can't adhere to the structure of Star Wars. Or see what they need to draw from. Old school simple Campbell and cliffhanger stuff.
It’s probably only going to be a 1 or 2 episode show, from what I’ve heard. LFL overseas is trying to fix it now. Favreau supposedly called it the worst looking fan film he’s ever seen. If these sources are correct, then look for a short show, and then quickly erased like Willow. Remember this isn’t Jon or Dave working on this. It’s Leslie Headland who has no concept of what Star Wats is to begin with. Secondly, does she even have any film credits? No big franchises to be certain.

Dude, I swear to god, if someone in that show starts having visions of order 66 happening, I’m gonna be pissed. I’m so sick of talking about order 66. It’s like making another movie about the dangers of Death Star I. It’s overexposed. Nobody fucking cares anymore, it’s time to move on.

My theory is that whoever the villain is the apprentice of Darth Plagueis before Palpatine. And just like Palpatine, Plagueis is just letting his minions do all the dirty work. I’m hoping Frank Oz returns as Yoda. Maybe we can even see Dooku as a Padawan if we even get some Jedi temple scenes

Could the neimoidians be part of the trade federation which could some how link to plaguies because palpatine was born around 82 BBY and when he is a young man Plaguies tells him in human years he is well over 100 years old so could we see a young plague is near the end of the show? Unfortunately I doubt Lucasfilm care about the Plagueis novel.

Plagueis is also one of my all time favorites. As a fan of the books, it’s often difficult, if not impossible to rationalize how Lucas Film steps all over their proverbial dick when it comes to timelines and solid storytelling. Regarding 50 years before the Phantom Menace, I believe this would have placed Hego Damask still an apprentice of Darth Tenebrous, although I believe they were the only Sith at that time, adhering to “The Rule of Two”.
So perhaps the Sith that save the girl in The Acolyte are Tenebrous and Plagueis? Probably not, that would make too much sense, plus they’re both male.
Plagueis is the most important SW character ever mentioned or written about. Without him there is no Palpatine, no Vader, no Empire, no Luke, no Leia, etc., etc…
I just really hope we get a good story

The only way this show becomes a W is if the sister that becomes a Sith is an apprentice of Plagueis and is killed in the end of the show, to allow Plagueis to become the future master of Sheev Palpatine. I absolutely loved the Plagueis novel and hope that Disney doesn’t blast that out of cannon forever with this show. Also Disney where the Bane show at those books are my favorite?
