I still have one question: why create an alternative fuel where you could become very rich but instead destroy race cars telling its bad and insisting on using regular gas? Still it’s a great movie! The cars will remain in my heart!
From what i understand he never had a breakthrough with this "alternative fuel" and just researched fuel that explodes with emp. Maybe to keep cars away from using it? I mean, after all he still owns that large oil company he claims to have sold.
Axlerod's plan was to pretty much rule the economy and have the lemon cars along side him. Essentially, he "created" this new, unheard of energy source called Allinol, which was really just regular, every day gasoline. However, there was a twist to his Allinol fuel. When struck with the EMP in the camera, the fuel inside of the car would cause the motor to blow. How does this relate to Axlerod's plan? By claiming that Allinol is safe and letting the races continue on with other cars blowing their engines, civilian cars began to lose trust and interest within the concept of "alternative energy." Basically this is the formula: Low demand for alternative fuels = Higher demand for oil to make gasoline. Miles Axlerod secretly still owned his oil tycoon, so he'd be making a lot more money. According to the script Miles is one of the biggest oil barrons in the World of Cars, meaning he'd be one of the main go-to sources for oil. So, the more oil produced by Miles and the lemons, the more money, power, and influence they'd have over the economy, since cars would rely so much on gasoline.
Yes, and all because he wanted to sell some fuel. Axlerod and the Lemons could have just made commercials to gain the respect and money they wanted, but instead, they caused a pointless conspiracy, along with killing government agents and injuring celebrities with intention of making the most potential threat against oil companies go away.
@@SilviaLikesCherries In the movie or real life? His personality and actions seem to, surprisingly, predict how money can cause corruption, evil, and other unacceptable conspiracies that overall are either pointless or in vain (or both). Many upper class citizens world wide have let their fame, greed, and selfishness take the best of their personalities, causing them to do irrational behaviors, manipulate others in controversial methods, refusing to listen to others or consider their advice, and just doing more harm than good in the end of the day. (Trump is a great example. When he could have just waited until 2024 and maybe changed his views and personality without any violence, he manipulated thousands of his voters to wreak havoc in the Capitol, plus betrayed his Vice President (Pence) and now is in a heap of legal trouble. And thanks to all the money he's being forced to pay for compensation, not even his 3 billion dollar net worth can afford all that, and I hope he eventually gets more punishment than he deserves thanks to how he has made this country of lies live up to its name). And in this case, Axlerod's quest to sell fuel and gain respect has caused him starting conspiracies, injuring celebrities, and murdering government agents in the worst ways imaginable, when he could have just made a commercial with the lemons to get all of his wishes without making alternative fuel look bad (not to mention the huge conspiracy that turned out in vain).
@@JosephRailwayStudios2000 I think most of Cars antagonists are arrogant racers. But they didn't really much portrayed like a villain than Miles because this second movie is about Spy/Crime Fighting movie. Not sure why, but I am slowly starting to wish they kept the first plot even if it was long. Still. I think Axelrod was a good villain just a bit too predictable
And one little side note ( deffimetly not important at all tbh): even though miles is based on the Land Rover Discovery, his Cars fictional type is the Branford Axlerod.👍😁
Fun fact actually; the original plan was to introduce a Russian car to be the mastermind of it all, the writers went with Axelrod because they liked the twist villain idea.
Honestly this was such a great premise for a sequel and it should’ve been executed differently. They didn’t need to introduce all of the spy stuff in a movie that’s supposed to be about racing.
@@THGMR-ox7sd they could have done it like how other racing type movies has done it, put the main character accidentaly get into the issue and let him/her expose it smartly
I think he should have actually changed into an electric car if he wanted to succeed, what happens if someone catches him refueling or, as what happened in the movie, he leaked?
He's probably got backup plans for these sorts of things. Maybe he has assistants that follow him around. I mean, he needs assistants to replace his ever failing parts and never buys parts in person as Tomba explained "He's my best customer, but he always does his business over the phone." I think he got lucky when he leaked at the party, as Mater happened to be there so he had somebody to blame it on. Now you've got me curious as to how it would've went down had it happened under different circumstances.
@@piperjojostott7790 I don't see how assistants would help, his plan was pretty flawed and I'm pretty sure if he just changed into an electric car his disguise wouldn't have been blown
@@keldeo05 Eh, the assistants thing was just the first thing that popped into my head. the jungle part (not where ned says he uses a custom fuel to get to safety, but the one at the end) is insane. i never knew it was the same jungle as the movie up
I remember being so confused for a long time at why Miles was the antagonist, I never got why he wanted to ruin alinol but thanks for the explanation! I never really thought he was a sinister mastermind in the movie, I thought he was some rich billionaire wanting to fuck up some race, but visualizing it this way really makes the movie better, you never thought a character can be extremely evil until you start thinking about it.
My favorite Pixar villain is Sir Miles Axlerod because is the most hidden antagonist and one of the darkest villains in Pixar, we thought in Cars 2 that Professor Zundapp was the main antagonist because he was promoted to be Leader of the Lemons but in the middle of this movie is revealed that the real mastermind was a mysterious British engine, making Zundapp the central or the secondary antagonist, and in climax of this movie is revealed that the unseen mastermind behind all the chaos all along was no other than Sir Miles Axlerod. And the other reason is that I loved the way how Axlerod was defeated, because while Mater confronts him about the sabotage during the race, he was ordering Mater to stay away, thus revealing his real nature, and also finally when see his bomb that attached on Mater was going to explode he was forced to deactivate it, thus exposing his crimes and confirming Mater's suspicions. And I also loved that Axlerod never revealed in all the movie his real nature, cuz Mater revealed for him.
I do wonder how Axlerod managed to engineer his fuel to blow up an entire engine using an EMP device, Because as far as I know, EMPs only destroy a car's electronic's system, and with enough exposure, it can actually harm a person. Also, weird story, but last year I had a dream that I had to sabotage a formula 1 race using an EMP device, and my specific target was valterri bottas
I heard that it was initially supposed to be a Radiation device que that would make the engines burst, but was changed to a EMP due to a tragic event in that time that i can't remember
Honestly, before the fateful day of 12th December 2021, I had a dream where at some point on the final lap of Abu Dhabi GP, after Michael Masi made the controversial move to ONLY unlap the cars between Hamilton and Verstappen, I would be somewhere with a EMP and blow Verstappen's tyres, giving Hamilton his 8th Championship. When I saw Max overtake Hamilton on the final lap, my heart just dropped, and I wish I was there to stop Verstappen...
Miles Axlerod has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. They only one is that Eddie Izzard did a wonderful job voicing him, but there's no excuse for the truth about him.
I think, even after seeing your video, that the fact Axelrod is the villain still something I will never understand. When I saw the movie Mater's explanations why this car is the Lemon car boss who try to sabotage everything, let me with more interrogations... Edit: I can finally say I've understood why this is the villain ! Everything can be summed up by one word : Btitish Leyland ! It is the fact that he is a Rover and that, by the time of the 70's, the British automobile industry failed to propose good and reliable cars that the public started to do jokes about every British manufacturer brand. This lack of good cars comes from the giant consortium British Leyland which include also Rover. So this is why Axelrod has lost his oil during the show, because he is not a good and reliable car. Also, this is why Martin who knows the jokes about poorly manufactured British cars and because the plot of the movie is focusing on lemons cars, found ultimately the Lemon's boss is Axelrod
AAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!! 😄✌😍🖑 MILEY... err, I mean... 💖💖 MILES AXLEROD 💖💖 IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS 😉😊😎🙃 (following pretty much directly after GREM and ACER - my most favorites - perhaps along with some other characters too, but perhaps not... I love the Around-the-World story and I love the spy section too, but if you ask me, the one and only thing that Cars 2 couldn't succeed in was telling both stories at the same time
One of the interesting things about the hint of Axelrod being the villain is if you look at that meeting and see him in the monitor when you see his hood, you see a bit of green from the glare if you look up, so the blue stuff was used to throw off anyone who's trying to find out who he is, and it worked.
This movie could have been a movie about racing around the world and could've been about the competition of some racers using non-renewable oil based fuel and some using renewable energy and been a much more wholesome and racing centered movie like the other movies in the franchise. I bet it would've been much better received
It may sound controversial but I actually liked this movie. However, I think it would’ve been much better to market it as a spin-off rather than a true sequel.
Mater: "Yeah, but what if he found that huge oil field just when the world was searching for something else?! What if he created Allinol just to make alternative fuel look bad?!" Axelrod: "What if? You're basing this on what if?"
Tbh I liked Cars 2 as a Kid because I was very proud about owning all the toys for the world championship racers. Nowadays I like the movie for how non-sensical and chaotic it is.
Mater soon found out what had happened at the WGP that got the innocent racers in danger of the new fuel the disguised voice was really Axelrod in disguise as a mastermind and a secondary antagonist of the franchise.

Elon Musk
THIS MAN WAS WILLING TO KILL LIGHTNING!?!?!?!
Yes, he was trying to kill you and Mater but thankfully your friend was able to expose him
@@Chonkyfurry Indeed he was a much better villain in my opinion
Yes, and all because he wanted to sell some fuel. Axlerod and the Lemons could have just made commercials to gain the respect and money they wanted, but instead, they caused a pointless conspiracy, along with killing government agents and injuring celebrities with intention of making the most potential threat against oil companies go away.
These videos are making me wonder how many car enthusiasts caught onto the foreshadowing way earlier due to just knowing a thing or two about cars.
He was a good villain when Matter exposes him he makes good points and it all made sense for him
Jackson Storm: Lawful Evil Reason: Cannot accept that he lost.
Chick Hicks: Neutral Evil Reason: Bullies slow racecars.
Miles Axlerod: Chaotic Evil Reason: Literally killed dozens of cars.
Jackson was just a cockier mcqueen
What Chick Hicks did to King is literally the car equivalent of pushing someone off a roof.
i prefer chick hicks..
Don't forget that Miles might have also affected politics.
This makes me love Cars 2 even more
Me too because he was a much better villain than Chicks and Jackson
@@JosephRailwayStudios2000 I think most of Cars antagonists are arrogant racers. But they didn't really much portrayed like a villain than Miles because this second movie is about Spy/Crime Fighting movie. I don't find the racers are evil but they just selfish for their own
It's so sad that Cars 2 is quite underrated
@@mr.darkassassin7997 indeed
Not sure why, but I am slowly starting to wish they kept the first plot even if it was long.
Still. I think Axelrod was a good villain just a bit too predictable
I remember watching cars 2 and when I saw miles was the real secret villain I was mind blown and my sister said I knew it he was the villain
And one little side note ( deffimetly not important at all tbh): even though miles is based on the Land Rover Discovery, his Cars fictional type is the Branford Axlerod.👍😁

Yes.

True but how would they do it?
@@THGMR-ox7sd maybe shortening maters screen time and turning it into a detective oriented couldve helped
@@midsquash1613 The only way I think that could work was to mix the movie, make half of it focused on Mater, the other on McQueen.
@@THGMR-ox7sd they could have done it like how other racing type movies has done it, put the main character accidentaly get into the issue and let him/her expose it smartly
If anything it should've been about a couple spies on a mission to protect lightning McQueen and his friends from the dangers ahead.
I think he should have actually changed into an electric car if he wanted to succeed, what happens if someone catches him refueling or, as what happened in the movie, he leaked?
He's probably got backup plans for these sorts of things. Maybe he has assistants that follow him around. I mean, he needs assistants to replace his ever failing parts and never buys parts in person as Tomba explained "He's my best customer, but he always does his business over the phone."
I think he got lucky when he leaked at the party, as Mater happened to be there so he had somebody to blame it on. Now you've got me curious as to how it would've went down had it happened under different circumstances.
@@piperjojostott7790 I don't see how assistants would help, his plan was pretty flawed and I'm pretty sure if he just changed into an electric car his disguise wouldn't have been blown

That is crazy that the place where Miles Axlerod as a lost car is the same place where Carl tries to ditch Dug and Kevin
But, how did he start driving in Africa and somehow got to South America without being spotted?
Super cool information! Miles is low key one of my favorite villains from the Cars franchise. 😆
Miles Axlerod's disguised voice sounds a little like Zurg from Toy Story 2. Is that true?
I guess, but Zurg was voiced by Andrew Stanton who directed Finding Nemo and Wall-E while Miles Axelrod was voiced by Eddie Izzard. 🙂🙂 🙂
the jungle part (not where ned says he uses a custom fuel to get to safety, but the one at the end) is insane. i never knew it was the same jungle as the movie up
I remember being so confused for a long time at why Miles was the antagonist, I never got why he wanted to ruin alinol but thanks for the explanation!
I never really thought he was a sinister mastermind in the movie, I thought he was some rich billionaire wanting to fuck up some race, but visualizing it this way really makes the movie better, you never thought a character can be extremely evil until you start thinking about it.
5:06 miles axelrod is so evil and cowardly
Makes me laugh. The Buick V8 (Rover) had its issues but ultimately proved to be an astoundingly reliable, strong unit.

Also right before the London race started where Axlerod was next to the Queen and some other unknown car, he is shown with an evil grin.
Great vid! I NEVER KNEW THAT WAS THE JUNGLE FROM UP! GOOD EDITING! THAT TRANSITION-
What i never understand is why people don't like cars 2 so much
Sir Miles Axelrod is my favourite villain out of the every movie made by Pixar and favourite car character
Main Protagonist: Lighting Mcqueen
Main Villain: Sir Miles Axlerold
Because of this video, you made me appreciate Cars 2 way more than I thought
FYI axlerod’s in universe make and model is a 1978 Branford axlerod
Video about old movie: exists on my recommended
My brain: w a t c h
Axlerod is a really well written Villain ngl, and Cars 2 Itself had a good plot. I Love it
No he isn't
@@xxxmcnuggwtsxxx9859 Why? Because he's too similar to mr. Waternoose?
I do wonder how Axlerod managed to engineer his fuel to blow up an entire engine using an EMP device, Because as far as I know, EMPs only destroy a car's electronic's system, and with enough exposure, it can actually harm a person. Also, weird story, but last year I had a dream that I had to sabotage a formula 1 race using an EMP device, and my specific target was valterri bottas
I heard that it was initially supposed to be a Radiation device que that would make the engines burst, but was changed to a EMP due to a tragic event in that time that i can't remember
2011 Fukushima Daiichi earthquake, tsunami and nuclear power plant meltdown maybe the case
Props to sarge and fillmore for saving McQueens life. Idc what anyone says cars 2 is a good and deep fil when you get into it.

I thought mater caused the oil leak. Damn Axlerod is one subtly but amazing villain
another great video by ned wheeler
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video Ned

One of the interesting things about the hint of Axelrod being the villain is if you look at that meeting and see him in the monitor when you see his hood, you see a bit of green from the glare if you look up, so the blue stuff was used to throw off anyone who's trying to find out who he is, and it worked.
This actually left me with more questions then before watching
This movie could have been a movie about racing around the world and could've been about the competition of some racers using non-renewable oil based fuel and some using renewable energy and been a much more wholesome and racing centered movie like the other movies in the franchise. I bet it would've been much better received
Cars 2 characters had depth
It may sound controversial but I actually liked this movie. However, I think it would’ve been much better to market it as a spin-off rather than a true sequel.
Mater: "Yeah, but what if he found that huge oil field just when the world was searching for something else?! What if he created Allinol just to make alternative fuel look bad?!"
Axelrod: "What if? You're basing this on what if?"
That last part was so unexpected 😂
Tbh I liked Cars 2 as a Kid because I was very proud about owning all the toys for the world championship racers.
Nowadays I like the movie for how non-sensical and chaotic it is.
Great job doc and Stanley
Mater soon found out what had happened at the WGP that got the innocent racers in danger of the new fuel the disguised voice was really Axelrod in disguise as a mastermind and a secondary antagonist of the franchise.
