It depends, really. I think the waterfall spray can be irritating to maintain. Also, there are more parts that can break on it as well. If the waterpump on it goes out, then the whole spray booth because just a very expensive paper weight. But it does do a better job at filtering out all of the paint particles and fumes. So, in my opinion, I'd wait a while longer for the price to drop more on them when they become more reasonably priced.
Great video! I have the regular spray booth but I only do acrylics. I am tempted sometimes to not use the filter but I use it to keep paint out of the fan. When the filter gets clogged, I just tear off the top layer and keep using the rest! haha, my filters could last forever. Sometimes don't need that much light? Must be nice to have young eyes.
Used the fancy Kaizo waterfall booth that they sold for a little while and it worked amazingly until the pump died... It captures overspray and fumes so incredibly well but I would probably only use that in a garage as the water reservoir is gross to clean up and manage. Turns out walking with a 2 gallon plastic container filled to the top without spilling is pretty difficult lol. Now I just use a Pace spray booth, works great but doesn't offer quite as much space
I love that your husband and I do the exact same thing when we get new kits. I have to open it, pick up all the runners then stare at the instructions for a good minute.
I do the exact same thing when I get new kits. I have to open it, pick up all the runners then stare at the instructions for a good minute. Then store it. 🤣🤣🤣
Same! However, I’m a bit embarrassed to admit that I also deeply SNIFF the manual. The smell of authentic Japanese printed paper gets me high. After staring at everything in the box, I re-seal the kit using the plastic security bands, aaand throw it in my backlog / pile of shame. 😂
its so good to see you and your husband back! Your videos on airbrushing were so useful when I started out a year or two back and I still reference back to them occasionally! Hope your new life in Canada is off to a good start! best wishes you and family :)
I have the same booth! Those dials are amazing. I can't imagine listening to the howl of those fans every time I wanted to spray something. I have a PS-290 and with the fan tip, the fans are all the way up and work well. When I use my H&S infinity, I have the fans on about 1/2 speed - adjusting as needed. And, when I'm done, I leave the fan on but extremely low to maintain a small airflow over what I've painted. I do gunpla with my 5 year old boy. That's how we found your UA-cam content - we love the vlog / slice of life content. It's great that he can see some aspects of life in other countries. Thank you!
Sounds like a good plan! I'm not very bothered by fan noise since we had three in our old booth but definitely that low option would be great! That's so sweet you watch with your 5 year old! Please say hi to him for me : )
I got the exact same spray booth and I have been happy with it. I don't have any problems with the fan being to loud but I'm usually wearing headphones listen to music or watching UA-cam videos. Also I put some black construction paper from the dollar store on the bottom to protect it a little.
I really like this booth it's a good deal right now on Amazon. I do everything in my booth so the independent switches are so great. I have all these lamps hovering over my current booth😂
I’ve been running Odenkan paints for about a year and a half now. Their metallics are by far the best I’ve used with the exception of Gaias star bright series, and the opaques are so pigmented that even pre-thinned I can still add about half the volume in extra thinner and still get amazing coverage. I’d love to watch a video on your thoughts on their paint.
Welcome to Canada! I loved watching your videos from Korea, and as a Canadian its really cool to see you decided to move here! Aragama is great for paints/kits etc, but for brand new kits, I have not found anywhere that gets kits faster than Gunpla Extra. They ship from BC, but they have a shop in Markham as well. They get new kits MONTHS earlier than other places. For Resin kits, Shokunin Gunpla is going to be your go to, they are really the only place in Canada that stocks resin kits, and they have the best selection by far. For Paints, Aragama is definitely the best, they have a great selection of Gaia and Mr Color, but a close second is Trinity Hobby. They carry harder to find paints like AOK and Alclad, and are GREAT people. Im biased because theyre my local shop, but they are great and have an awesome selection. Hope this helps, and hope you enjoy Canada!
As long as that camera angle works for you it gives is a great view for future painting tutorials and build videos. I am considering getting one of those booths myself. Out with the cardboard, DIY duct and PC fans lol.
I've had pieces to get started with it before, but I've only been getting into airbrushing the last few months. just got done with a full project on a RG char zaku. I used my spray booth that I swear is from the same OEM, but mine didn't come with a manual, so outside of assembly & the most basic usage I've had to figure out as I go. it mostly turned out well, but I'm still not going to paint most of my kits. at least fully paint. I prefer to do any color corrections or small changes by hand
I owm both types...the one you just purchased and also the waterfall type. I prefer the one you have, coz the waterfall type is too bulky and needs more maintenance. Plus for a small space like mine this is a better choice. :D
That's good to hear! I also don't have a huge space, and am very lazy when it comes to the cleaning/maintenance side of building, so this seems a better option too
I've found that one thing you gotta be cautious of with these Amazon spray booths is that the fans they use aren't rated for explosive/flammable vapors and it'll only say that in a tiny little disclaimer in the manual. You don't really have to worry about explosions if you're venting the fumes out the window but just annoying that a lot of them don't bother mentioning anything about it til you actually open the box.
@@frostedsnow Understandable, although I'd be on board for project videos using entirely things that _could_ be bought in Canada (even if it was all from a single store that sponsored you.) Anything cool that doesn't come with the looming threat of import duty is fine by me.
@@frostedsnow Second this. Works so much better than that blue filter the booth comes with. I bought a large sheet of carbon filter(about $12-15) and cut it to size using the original filter as a template.
if Newtype is reading any of the comments, can you please add USPS as a shipping option. They are the only mail service that doesn't gouge us even more after already paying for shipping. In Canada, anything that comes from another country that is sent via ups, fedex, dhl, etc always charges shipping and then when we get a tracking number, we get hit with another bill that includes duties, taxes and then they tack on their own import fee which sometimes is only 10% of the order price but often, it is always 30-60% above and beyond the price of purchase + shipping. It effectively doubles the cost of buying anything from newtype which is probably why you don't see many orders from Canada. But USPS (postal service, not united parcel service) deals directly with Canada Post which sometimes doesn't even bother with duties for delivery. But even if they do ask for money, it's always for the actual duties you pay to the government and not some BS import fee
Would you use the regular or waterfall spray booth?
want to get one from taobao, but the shipping is way too much
I run kiazo x innovation waterfall spray booth, it’s been a game changer with the amount of lacquer paints a spray.

Glad to see Argama Hobby getting a shout out. Arthur is the one of most knowledgeable guys out there, when it comes to everything model kit building.
Good to hear you had a good experience!

ive been eyeing a booth for a while so thanks for the video review on the pros and cons
Happy it helps!

awesome to see Argama, love shopping there.
great to hear!
Arthur from Argama Hobby is awesome, I often order from him, and I met him in person at Otakuthon in Montreal last summer. Great guy...😊
He's awesome! I'm sure he'd be very happy to hear
@12:37 his face when he realised which kit it was, amazing!
haha he loves the RX-78!
Welcome back to Canada ! 🎉
thank you!
I came here for Frosted Snow...but we always stick around to see Cookie goofin it up lol
Pretty much XD
Just came back from Argama Hobby physical store yesterday. For sure they have the best paint selections in Canada.
That's so cool you get to visit in person!
Argama is awesome!
Only place I could get both Mr. Color Titan Blue 1 and 2, everyone else in Canada had one or the other but not both!
I have yet to visit their new location in Vaughan.
That’s awesome, I shop at Argama frequently.
Nice!
I have that same booth. Love that thing.
Great to hear!
I am going to miss your vlogs of restaurants in Korea... All the foods look so yummy 😋
We have quite a backlog of them so dw : )
Oooh that grandpa 2.0 is quite a posing beast! Have fun!
Looking forward to it!
I'm happy to see that you guys are doing well.

Frostedsnow vid on a Saturday morning? What a great way to start the weekend.
Also, that top you wore in Starbucks makes you looks younger. hihi.
Yeay! Happy Saturday! It's still Friday night for us haha
I had both regular and waterfall booth and I prefer the waterfall booth. the only drawback from the waterfall booth is cleaning out the water.
I may consider it for the future!

The dials are a really big plus!
I had this, recently changed to a waterfall spray booth

Looks like Christmas came in early 😮
Sorta XD
I was looking at this one! Looking forward to seeing how you feel about it.
Will let you guys know for sure!

It's a good investment to have a proper booth for sure!

Your new setup is really coming together! I am looking forward to seeing that RX-78-2 😊
Yeah! Always doing Zeon or grunt kits - it's a rare gundam build for me! haha
I just got in that same booth!
You like it?
@@frostedsnow love it so far! Did some varnish work to break it in and no complaints and the lights are A+

해외에서 고생 하시네요
이제 작업 시작 하시는 건가요
작업기 기대하고 있겠습니다
작업 곧 시작 하려고 해요! ^^
I promise you the waterfall would work better to have in an inside room
I'm using the same booth and it's not enough for lacquer paint, I also bought a inline fan to boost the suction power.
I'll try and see how it goes!
So sick to see that Argama is supporting you. The store rules and is a huge pillar of the Gunpla community around Toronto
That's great to hear there's big gunpla communities in Canada!
Yeah, the "this product sounds amazing... oh, it's _not available in Canada"_ struggle is real.
I miss my Korean paints : (

Have you tried Jumpwind Metallics? One of the best I've tried. Better than Gaia, Mr. Color and maybe even Alclad in my opinion.
Avail in Canada?
@@frostedsnow I think RobotKai might ship to Canada? I know they carry them.
ok well I love the unboxing and the video but I have to admit I do not like sushi lol !
lol nooooooooo I'm a huge sushi fan!
I judge a paint brand by their metallics. If those are good, regular colors will be fine.
I'm confident the opaques will be good too! So just went for it : )
더워서 머리미신거에욤?
I have the same spray booth. Used only once. I could give you for free. The shipping fee you pay.
