Another similarity is when Kevin takes Buzz's life saving's and uses it for shopping. In part 2, Kevin had his dad's wallet and uses his credit card and cash. Another example is after the chase scene where he stole the toothbrush, he makes an admission of guilt by saying "I'm a criminal". In the second movie he says "I committed credit card fraud" after being chased by hotel security. After both chase scenes he meets up with Harry and Marv. Another similarity is the pizza. Hey is the reason Heather(the one who said that her parents live in Paris) isn’t in home alone 2 because she is with her parents or is it something else. Are her parents uncle rob and aunt georgette?
Harry getting his head burned in the exact same way in 2 as he did in 1.... Notice how he noticed the burning instantly in the first movie, but he didn't notice it till he looked in the mirror in the 2nd movie? This is a CLEAR sign that the nerve endings in his head were burnt away in the first movie, so he literally doesn't feel the burning in the 2nd movie. People don't talk about this wonderful long story telling moment enough!
Wait I'm confused so when he does the Montage scene I just barely realize this there is a second set of stairs I mean obviously it's not the stairs from the main room but it's kind of weird because where the dining room table is and you see those stairs is a completely different setting then in the kitchen. Even in the shot where he's about to eat his microwave dinner you don't see the stairs in that shot. I'm guessing that the dining room table in the kitchen is one and then this is a formal dining room table? But it's just weird that you never see these other stairs or them ever being used in this shop. Even upstairs where does the stairs lead to upstairs you never see it.
Its not "Copy" but rather it is called "Improvised". Home Alone 2 is a very very rare case thst the sequel is as good as the first. Its not too far off from the first movie, and not too similar. Both have own special moments and scenes; at the same time, it is still relatable.
Sequels are always fine being copycats when it's a simple enough premise. Although I never saw them it never made sense to me when people complained about the Hangover movies for having...more hangovers. That's the theme. Stick with it!🤷🏽♂️
I just noticed that when Kevin is looking at the photo in Home Alone 2 Kate McAllister AKA Catherine O'Hara has her eyes closed for the shot lol. Everyone else is fine but she's smiling but has her eyes closed haha I double check though to see if that was the same for the first film but that's not the case because otherwise that would have been another little Easter egg for both films but unfortunately she just has her eyes closed and the Home Alone 2 picture. But that's kind of funny cuz it's kind of funny because it's supposed to be a family photo but yeah her eyes are closed in it you would have thought that they would have had a better shot LOL
Another reference is right before a bunch of tools fall on harry in home alone 2 harry does an evil laugh then in home alone 1 right before Harry’s hand gets burned by the door handle he does an evil laugh just like In home alone 2 when harry does his evil laugh
I noticed, but never really cared. Home Alone 2 still ups the ante in certain places and throws in enough surprises to make it feel new and fresh enough not just with the more dangerous and painful booby traps, but also in the plot. For example, like the title says, instead of being left at home, he’s alone wandering about New York City. He goes from the petty crime of shoplifting a toothbrush to the major crime of credit card fraud. He goes from just defending his house to stopping a heist of children’s hospital charity money. There are sequel movies that continue the story that was started with its respective predecessor, which usually makes for the best sequels, and those that just feel like more of the same stuff we already got, which tend to be hit and miss. Home Alone 2 manages to do both pretty decently.
ADDENDUM: Both movies used the element of a McCallister member mistaking an outsider for one of their own because of similar clothing, hairstyle, and build, plus their backs were turned towards them. In Home Alone, Heather counts the neighborhood friend Mitch Murphy as Kevin at the McCallister residence. Kevin made a similar mistake in Lost in New York though he followed a New York-bound passenger wearing the same coat as his father, thanks to the latter rushing in his way at the terminal as they dashed for their flights.
I think it was Buzz who yelled "Kevin you spent $967 on room service". It was Buzz because I recognize his voice, and he was the one with the last line in the first movie by saying "Kevin, what did you do to my room"?
No it was the dad because Buzz read the bill from the moment he got it and grinned, he basically said Merry Christmas indeed with a smirk and being the jerk of the older bro he is, told the dad just so the dad could get mad...why would Buzz be that upset at a bill he, a child, can't pay? That yell is the fury of a parent who is probably trying to maintain a budget to feed so many mouths even tho they seem well off... Then his youngest spends all that on food for himself..my mom would laugh and say, you should be greatly u found your kid and all u got was a good bill and not funeral bill but let me try that shyt and she crucifixes lol
Has anyone ever noticed the similar scenes in Home Alone and Meet the Parents??? Like when Ben Stiller is at the airport waiting for the girl who keeps typing, and the same vans dropping off Stillers luggage that took Kevin's family to the airport. Few other things I've forgotten now too...
In the first one, the wind had a branch falling on the lines causing an electrical outage, hence the alarm clock resetting and every one to oversleep. In the second movie its just Kevin parents alarm clock that is reset when his dad unplugged the charger, yet everyone misses the wake up alarm yet again…Nevertheless, how can you mess up so bad two years in a row? And how can one family be so cruel and careless towards one child who is way smarter, alert, wise and considerate then anyone of them? Cause even if these movies end on a good note, I can’t help now, as an adult, not to feel bad for the troma Kevin had to go trough, not so much with the bad guys but with is own family; in both movies never is his family ( not even his mom), made aware of what happened with the robbers. Imagine the therapy bills later on..
I just thought of this too both in home alone and Home Alone 2 when did he have time to drop that battle plan that doesn't make sense especially in Home Alone 2 where he's not super familiar with the house how does he know how to draw everything up for the floor plan of that house?
Not only isn't it being renovated but that's where his aunt and uncle live but we're on vacation during renovation, who knows maybe hes familiar with the inside
I think you missed a similarity, in the first movie, Kevin goes, "I'm a criminal," when he accidentally shoplifts a toothbrush, and then says, "I'm a credit card fraud," when he gets busted for using his dad's credit card.
One more thing I have always wondered. I can understand that in the first movie he has a drawn plan to catch thieves (because he is at his own home), but why on earth he would bring it to Miami? His bag is not even that big.
Home Alone 2 is one of the extremely rare sequels that essentially rehashes everything from the first movie (even the music during the trap setup montage in both movies is exactly the same) but still lives up to the original and provides just enough fresh material at the same time.

4:31 Oops... December 24, 1992 was on a Thursday, not Wednesday as is shown above the toy ad.
I always knew they were similar, but I didn't take the time to notice every similarity.
Well Done, I have never noticed how many similarities between the two movies I just enjoyed them. But I am a winter guy and Loved #3 the best of the movies.
I love your videos your really good with Movie Facts have you ever seen The Movies that Made us on Netflix ?
Yes I have! Such a fun series.
@@FunFactFilms I know right I really love The Toys That Made Us I LOVE 80's Toylines the Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles are my most favorites I gotta find them if they still exist what are your favorites ?
@@alexmeza6486 TMNT toys were my jam back in the day. Still have a bunch of my action figures and the sewer playset I let my kids play with. AI was also into He-Man and G.I. Joes figures.
@@FunFactFilms I Love G.I. Joe did you know there was a Crossover between them and Transformers ? Also if you like the Power Rangers which Ranger is your most Favorite ?
I watched Home Alone 1 & 2 back to back last weekend. Noticed it was the same script recycled but you really went into detail. Good video. Home Alone 2 is more like Home Alone 1.5
Hey is the reason Heather(the one who said that her parents live in Paris) isn’t in home alone 2 because she is with her parents or is it something else. Are her parents uncle rob and aunt georgette?
Yes. Her parents are rob and georgette.
At least home alone 1&2 are both the best Christmas movies
When you talked about the fire in the carocine right as the explosion went off it went to and ad an do thought that was perfectly timed
Sequels are always fine being copycats when it's a simple enough premise. Although I never saw them it never made sense to me when people complained about the Hangover movies for having...more hangovers. That's the theme. Stick with it!🤷🏽♂️
There's also Kevin taunting the crooks by asking if they have given up already.
You should make a video about the 500 things A New Hope/The Force Awakens
Good idea
0:38 It is the same shot, look closely at the lights and the snow.
7:56 my favorite
Wait it was Kevin's dad that yelled at the end of the film? I thought that was also Buzz!
I think it was buzz.
That's what I thought! Was it buzz or his dad!
I think it was his dad
Buzz did say “oh dad!!!”
I meant after that
I noticed, but never really cared.
Can you please do a video about home alone 3 please
Did you know that Home Alone 2 was filmed by the same director from Home Alone 1 but still great video
Both are fun to watch!
The first two film are classics but a problem about the second movie is that events of the original film were taken, changed and put into it.
"Kids are a scared of the dark"
"Kids are a scared of the Park"
I remember seeing the sequel for the first time and I told my mom is was too much like the first one lol.
I think it was Buzz who yelled "Kevin you spent $967 on room service". It was Buzz because I recognize his voice, and he was the one with the last line in the first movie by saying "Kevin, what did you do to my room"?
That was Peter aka Kevin’s dad no buzz
Because buzz called his dad
No it was the dad because Buzz read the bill from the moment he got it and grinned, he basically said Merry Christmas indeed with a smirk and being the jerk of the older bro he is, told the dad just so the dad could get mad...why would Buzz be that upset at a bill he, a child, can't pay? That yell is the fury of a parent who is probably trying to maintain a budget to feed so many mouths even tho they seem well off... Then his youngest spends all that on food for himself..my mom would laugh and say, you should be greatly u found your kid and all u got was a good bill and not funeral bill but let me try that shyt and she crucifixes lol
at 0:42 you are wrong, if you watch closely you can see thath the ligt's are placed differently.
"It's a McCallister tradition".....at least we never lose our luggage".
Copied or masterfully placed?
But, the same person wrote both 1 and 2 so is it really coping?
Has anyone ever noticed the similar scenes in Home Alone and Meet the Parents??? Like when Ben Stiller is at the airport waiting for the girl who keeps typing, and the same vans dropping off Stillers luggage that took Kevin's family to the airport. Few other things I've forgotten now too...
9:21- 9:40 is the most different in Home Alone and Home Alone 2
I find it ironic that Kevin's interactions with the Wet Bandits is less toxic than his interactions with his family.
I just thought of this too both in home alone and Home Alone 2 when did he have time to drop that battle plan that doesn't make sense especially in Home Alone 2 where he's not super familiar with the house how does he know how to draw everything up for the floor plan of that house?
Cuz in part 2 the apartment is being renovated, so there isn't much to the apartment to figure out.
Not only isn't it being renovated but that's where his aunt and uncle live but we're on vacation during renovation, who knows maybe hes familiar with the inside
Just wanted to add another identical thing happening that you didn't mention but showed, harry getting covered in feathers
4.32 maybe It’s rock fella place
Rockefeller Center I’ve been there it’s beautiful
I think you missed a similarity, in the first movie, Kevin goes, "I'm a criminal," when he accidentally shoplifts a toothbrush, and then says, "I'm a credit card fraud," when he gets busted for using his dad's credit card.
One more thing I have always wondered. I can understand that in the first movie he has a drawn plan to catch thieves (because he is at his own home), but why on earth he would bring it to Miami? His bag is not even that big.
I like to imagine that these are both parodies and throwbacks at the same time
at 7:11 he didnt said he got stapled in the back marv😂
This is insanity!!! do what works I reckon! I never seen the second one so I had no idea
