- Even after I realized that I had to start paying myself from my nonprofit, I didn’t know how to do that. Our donations were irregular, I wasn’t landing big multi-year grants that included my salary, so I wasn’t sure how to pay myself. Do I just take more money some months and none the others? In this episode, I show you exactly how to pay yourself from your nonprofit regardless of how little revenue you are bringing in.

PRACTICAL AND APPROACHABLE NONPROFIT STRATEGY THAT HELPS ORGANIZATIONS GET CLEAR, GET FOCUSED, and GET FUNDING SO THEY CAN BE IMPACTFUL without being overwhelmed by all the traditional nonprofit advice. Nonprofits don’t have to be grueling and Executive Directors shouldn’t be constantly exhausted. It takes courage to step out in faith and follow a calling and I believe the world needs the solution your nonprofit offers. Running a thriving nonprofit takes leadership, strategy, program evaluation and intentional fundraising but it doesn’t need to be overwhelming. Everything you do can be maximized and leveraged to accomplish your mission in one solid, cohesive way. Stop working for a nonprofit and start working For Purpose, On Purpose.

@@danbuffington75 I’m so glad!
Very helpful. Thank you
Great advice 😊 thank you
I feel like this could work, you already have a personal bank account aside from your business and having a business savings and checking account would work. I wonder if you create a salary or contract or yourself will it be ok, I feel like the percent will keep you at a honest rate off what revenue you bring in. Allowing you to get more if you make more
Or less if you make less
Thank you 😊
if I have a donor of property to our non-prof can the donor get a deduction for several years? A single year deduction may not benefit them enough if they don't have high taxes. Thoughts?
With a donation of this size it is imperative that the donor contact a tax professional regarding the best way to maximize their deduction.
do you know if there are restrictions to salary payout depending on the type of 5013c?
So helpful
Glad it was helpful!

How about to open a Bank account?
Thank u for this info...i am considering a non-profit for my son...he has autism...thanks again...❤
My son also has an autism diagnosis 🤗. When thinking of creating a nonprofit in which there are already many serving the same population, make sure your mission is set apart from others or addresses a current gap that is out there. Many times you can be more effective partnering with an already existing nonprofit unless of course you have a really innovative solution to the problem.
I thought your board of directors controlled the salaries?
Board of Directors will vote on and approve an ED salary but EDs are responsible for setting and budgeting for the operations budget including salaries. To be able to pay other staff you must start with yourself and many people start nonprofits with no salary. This method is a good way to start putting aside money for your salary so you can make a case to the board of directors that you have enough to sustain being paid.
Not really for others if u want to be paid.
Stupid reply. Go back to sleep.
It is if the services you offered are rare (hard to find) and / or discounted for the health or education of people in need.
