I struggle to maintain weight let alone GAIN it, which is why I don’t judge fat people because I’d assume some people have trouble loading it. I had bad experiences growing up involving my weight that left me traumatized which is why I started working out 8 yrs ago which helped me build some curves and gain weight but even so I still get comments (mostly from older bigger women and young+old shallow men who prefer their women oversized) about how I'm too skinny when Im literally at a healthy weight for my height, like how big do u want me to be?? I hate that now that I managed to be at a healthy weight it's not considered "healthy" anymore unless your overweight. I find that it has to do alot with culture and influence.

It doesn’t matter if you grew up poor or rich, what matters is the values instilled in you and whether or not you maintain them as money becomes a larger influence in your life. Often times ppl become obsessed with money bc they grew up poor and their whole life was about not having it. Now they do have it and think they’re the best thing since sliced bread. Whereas I know a number of wealthy kids who grew up to be incredibly hard workers and are super humble and giving of their time and money. So it can go both ways 🤷🏻‍♀️

I work in the fashion industry as a model full time, and the Vogue picture she showed does not mean shit lol. Basically to those who don’t know, often times when you do portfolio / creative shoots, photographers will try to submit them to various publications just to get the work out there. Vogue has an online platform where you can submit individual photos and see if they “approve” it but it’s not the actual team of people that do Vogue Magazine who make the decisions or even run it. It’s just kind of it’s own thing and it’s actually not hard to get accepted lol. I have had a photo accepted there and it was not even that great of an image. All they do in the end is just slap the vogue logo on your photo, like a “stamp of approval”. Within the industry its this kind of “eye roll” now when people do that submission and then say they have been “featured on Vogue” cause it’s surprisingly easy to get accepted and typically what new people in the industry try to do. But at the end of the day, it doesn’t do anything for you. So anyone working in the industry knows it’s not a big deal at all. This girl got a photo accepted there and thinks she is a supermodel 😂

I hate how in the past 10 years society has started shitting on office jobs. In the tik tok comments you see so many young people saying how they’d rather die that’s work a 9-5, they want to be their own boss, etc. I graduated high school 2 years ago and even then entrepreneurship was pushed so hard on us. What people fail to recognize is the stability of a 9-5. You know how much you are gonna make and how much you need to survive. With influencers and entrepreneurs if you don’t have savings to begin with you’re gonna be going home some nights skipping dinner because your paycheck isn’t consistent. People expect money to fall into their lap by doing the bare minimum. I’m only 20 and can point out too many lazy people in my Uni classes who want to “start their own business” who can’t even compete basic assignments on time. It’s not as simple as they think.
Edit: I want to make clear that obviously it’s not for everyone and there are different paths to success, and my perspective is coming from a European one where hours are not as long as in America, we get minimum 27+ days of paid vacation, and after the pandemic many companies allow people to work from home 1-2 days a week, and the 9-5 scheduled is honored. You can clock out at 4:15pm-4:30pm without getting strange looks or comments. But there’s no need to look down on those who do enjoy a healthy office environment just because it’s an office job.

problem with a lot of 9-5 office jobs is that they might be stable but often times the environment is extremely toxic. You want to find a bad manager just look at nearly any office. You want to find people not getting paid for over time look at any office. I've mostly worked office jobs my life and finding an office that you don't need to sleep with the boss to get anywhere is shockingly difficult.

@@bobowon5450that might be true but what I’m saying in general is that 9-5 jobs are still valuable. There is an idea being pushed around not through this video but just in general that working in an office is lame, that if you aren’t your own boss you can’t be successful which isn’t the case. I know more people who have become successful by working in corporate throughout their 20’s and early 30s who save and invest and are then able to do something on their own, than people who completely write off working office jobs and want to be an influencer and entrepreneur. It’s about balance but the balance isn’t being acknowledged.

Y'all wouldn't believe me if I told you that, hardly a few couple years ago, she used to be a _Mid-Size_ model.
A lot of these Plus Size models, Curvy models, Mid-Size models and slimmer models in the industry are lowkey into fat fetishism, I kid you not. Some slimmer and Curvy models are even contractually coaxed by their managers to overgorge themselves into obesity to get more booked, simply because the Plus Size modelling industry banks _that much_ money in later years.

I would wake up take the bus to an editorial for 6 hours, then run to a fitting, walk multiple shows and some days only be payed in clothing. I remember having to run from one show to another barefoot wet dripping hair. Taking trains between London and Paris TRANSPORTATION I PAYED FOR! Its stressful id forget to eat often only when youre on the verge of collapsing do you remember "let me drink some water" i quit after i had a breakdown in a dressing room and had to check into a facility from the stress and anxiety. I worked in manual labor for three years. Constant close calls with death or serious injury. Fall off a scaffold and plummet 105 feet. Get your arm caught in machinery and get it pulped into hamburger. Hell some idiot walks into a site I'm working and lights a cig and a massive explosion would kill us all.
I even fell through a hole because someone took the grate off and slammed my knee into a concrete ledge to keep myself from falling to my death (small access hole that went down 50 feet.)
On the job sometimes I wouldn't have enough money for food, so I would have to push through a shift hauling concrete by hand starving. And then at the end of the week buy a burrito from chipotle.
That being said there's still "easy" jobs I would refuse to work.
Working in fast food for example. If someone pisses me off at a jobsite I can just spit in their face and fight them. If my boss pisses me off I can just say fuck it and quit and then get a new job down the street (construction work is very profitable in big cities, they do no pre work inspections at all. To understaffed.)

You’re not guaranteed to make great money without putting yourself at risk. I think the toughest thing would be the perception of your audience and the public on your mental. Which isn’t even that much UNTIL you consider how weak people have become mentally to any type of criticism or hate. Can you become drained from this work? probably, you do put yourself up to scrutinization but the positives definitely outweigh the negatives. Grace was the most admirable person out of all of them in my opinion. She got attacked right away for who she is and handled it well. She made a good living but not by only fans. She likes secondhand clothes and thus thrifting and that's always a plus in my book.

Defining yourself as a supermodel is just so weird. Especially when you're an Instagram model.
It's like defining yourself as a NBA player of the year because you won a Sunday league basketball championship.

Thats the result of not telling your kids the truth and having participation awards . When you get a trophy for being mediocre at best it's messes with people's heads

This brothers break down of modeling, model and super model was perfection. I’ve done plus size modeling…when I did I NEVER said I’m a model lol there is definitely a difference.

I don't think there was ever a time like this, honestly. If not by themselves, being fat was still considered the only personality trait they had.

I think the scariest part is that many of the influencers featured here (except for Grace and Tech guy) seem to not even realize that they are the "airhead" stereotype they described. No self-awareness. Many people don't get that you don't have to be dumb to be an "airhead", you just have to be someone consumed by shallow or trivial things, like it's mainly about having messed up priorities and the honest reality is that most content creators, by nature of the job, are going to fit this description. Imo, the best parts of life are the experiences, learning knowledge/skills and getting to know the deeper parts of people's characters and content creator as a job basically makes puts you into a world where caring about these things becomes very difficult because everything is kinda fake and most around you only care about things on a surface level and about things like money or fame. This doesn't apply to every content creator obviously, but mainly to these examples in this video specifically.
