    I love that all mcdonalds eggs in the UK have to be free range and that's pretty common now in all restaurants. Also we now have a vegan big mac for veganuary and the salt craving as my sister gets is the lack of zinc from being vegetarian

    I find these UK v US videos interesting as the two cultures are very similar - but at the same time being very different! It would also be good to see a US v Australia comparison. On the whole there is usually no Best or Worst. Vive Le Difference!

    • @mkozlinski
      @mkozlinski Рік тому

      Yes. There is. You can easily judge cultures. The way they treat women for example. Or children. Or animals. Or minorities. It's very easy to tell that some cultures, though not perfect, are better than others.

    The UK government in the last few years introduced a sugar tax. This forced all companies operating here to cut sugar or increase their prices. A lot of sodas are now sugar free. This may explain the difference in size and calorie count. Even chocolate bars and bottled Coca cola have got considerably smaller to avoid the higher tax overheads. Jason x

    A big problem with food in the US is the disconnect, between knowning what is in what they are eating to what they are eating. It comes down to conditioning by food companies.
    There is a English chief called Jamie Oliver, who started a campain in the UK to try and get kids to eat better food. So he did a TV series where he went in to a school and cook good food. One of the things he did was replace chicken nuggets with real chicken, but the kids would not eat it, wanting the nuggets back. So he got a group of them and showed them how the nuggets were made, in front of them. You got all them noices kids make when they do't like what they see. at teh end he offered them real chicken or nuggets, they choose the chicken.
    Well a few years later he was do the same thing in a town in the US, and had the same problem with the kids. So he did the same thing and the kids re-acted the same all the way though, until they were cooked, and they went straight for the nuggets. Why? because it was nuggets, there was a total disconnet between the process and the end result in there minds.

    • @ashessakura7518

      I actually do remember that episode and the look on Jamie’s face when the kids chose the nuggets, he just looked so defeated

      I can remember the news article about fat British mums pushing big macs through school fences, because according to them there kids were not getting what they needed. its one of the only times i have been embarrassed to be British, shame on them mums. I personally know Jamie Oliver I was his gardener at one of his restaurants in Newquay Cornwall, he always made sure there was a good Sandwich and and a good healthy drink for me when i did the gardening. totally free off charge a great chef and a good friend I used to enjoy his BBQ's once a year for his staff and guys that did jobs for him....

    Antifreeze isn't made of propylene glycol, it's actually made of ethylene glycol - totally different substances.

    Biscuit comes from a Latin pottery term meaning "Twice Fired". The French adopted the term in baking.
    Biscuits are small, flat, sweet, twice baked, unleavened caked. Because they have been baked twice most or all the moisture has been evaporated leaving the results crisp and sometimes crumbly.
    Biscuits with no sugar or a touch of sugar and savoury (savory) ingredients are called Crackers.
    American "Biscuits" are not baked twice so are simply NOT biscuits.

    Hi girls and aunt Linda
    Debbie from Wales here.
    Here in the UK we can get savoury cheese scones, especially nice if you make them yourself and put your cheese if choice in them, the cheese is mixed into the dough. We can also get fruit scones with, currents or raisins in the mix or we can get plain scones.
    Just like you I have not had a McDonalds for years as I enjoy fresh food, and prefer to make my own, as it is just so easy to make burgers from fresh and quick too.

    Interesting to see a video on what you do eat in the US (rather than what we think you eat). They do curry sauce at fish and chip shops to put on chips (fries), so McDonald's have 'appropriated' that idea. Thanks for uploading ladies. Good to meet Aunt Linda. 😎😁😎

    Wonderful to at last "meet" Aunt Linda. I am sure that she coudl educate many of us on both sides of the pond with her life experiences. As for Mcd's , well when I was a sales person out on the road here in UK it was handy to get to know where each branch was located in order to get a tea or for a bathroom (toilet) stop, beyond that to eat - no thanks. Many road side food trucks offered better value fresh food and my favourite was sausage and tomato cob ( for cob read roll, bread cake, barm etc depending on the area in UK you are from lol). Aunty Linda you have now got to be in more vids. Stay safe all three of you.

    I believe you are imposing the US McDonalds onto the UK McDonalds. All the beef used in the beef burgers are supplied by UK & Irish farmers. Therefore the animal husbandry is of a higher standard. No artificial growth hormones injected into the cows. You also failed to spot the eggs used were free range eggs meaning that the eggs came from non-battery chickens. They would have lived outdoors to forage for food. The eggs are much healthier to eat. They are also not chlorine washed.

    Corn syrup seems to in every foodstuff in the US, a lot of food does taste a bit 'chemical' to us in the US - where the stereotype is that UK food has no flavour I think that's probably in part because in the US stuff is drenched in every sauce possible until it's not clear what it's meant to taste of any more. And stuff that wouldn't really be sweet over here, like bred, is quite sugary in the US

      It’s strange that in the US they say uk food is bad, and in the UK we say US food is bad, I guess it’s what you are used to. Saying that we went to the US a few years ago and everything did taste like plastic, we said we wouldn’t go back until the food standards got better.

    Thing is, this video isn't a great representation - I mean we do have a breakfast menu which is various muffins (not sweet they're english muffins) with various fillings. We have wraps with the same fillings as the muffins, we have pancakes... And for the main menu there's also a rotating menu that changes every few weeks. They had cheese melt dippers with tangy sauce for example. And you can get various salads in the UK.
    You can get donuts too and in summer there's special summer drinks.

    The 20/40 thing is a subtle matter of perception. Your own guy did the two-finger thing to emphasize 'sharing' 20 nuggets. He's suggesting that, whilst aspirational, sharing this quantity is less probable in the US. Whereas the UK 20 nugget box, by it's size, alludes to sharing, as is it's main purpose. At the end of the day, if your going to eat 20, 30 or 40 nuggets, it doesn't matter which side of the pond you're on!

    Greetings from the UK. Back in 2013 we had a holiday in Orlando, in the breakfast menu macs had 'ham and cheese french toast', i could happily live on that. Your caramel sundae was our toffee sundae. Our tea generally has a higher caffeine count than an equivalent coffee. I know you'll disagree but we need mcgriddles over here.

    I think as a general term bad ingredients are al in small amounts perhaps the question is how often are those bad ingredients consumed and larger amounts in the same product does not help.

    Here’s the recipe for the secret sauce for Aunt Linda, minus all the chemicals:
    * 1/2 cup mayo
    * 2 Tablespoons French Dressing
    * 1 heaping Tablespoon sweet relish
    * 3 teaspoons dill pickle juice
    * 1 teaspoon sugar
    * 1 teaspoon dried minced onion
    * 1 teaspoon ketchup
    * dash of salt
    To make Sauce: combine all of the ingredients and cover and refrigerate for 24-hours.
    Hope she enjoys

    Awh, Aunt Linda is lovely. Such a sweet soul! I wish her the best of luck with her channel! Seems like our palettes are very different. We came out of war rationing, and are slowly catching up to spicy, sugary foods, so I guess it won't be long before our cheap/fast food is full of more rubbish too!
