  • With such a wide range and varied amount of big-bore adventure motorcycles on the market, the choice can become somewhat bewildering. To take a look at that point, we have compared the Ducati Multistrada V4 S against the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro, with the Ducati representing the exotic, and the Triumph the sensible.
They both go about things in very different ways and represent two ways to crack the adventure motorcycle segment. But is less sometimes more, and is more sometimes too much?

Must admit I love them both...to me Ducati and Triumph are iconic, plenty of history, top end brands.

Had the 1200 GT pro for 7000 miles.Replaced tyres with Roadsmart 4's and they transformed the bike, really good. All day comfort let down by the handlebar vibration, and on/off throttle control. Not good on a mountain hairpin! Quality let down by a lot of corroding fasteners. Now own a Multi V4s. Fuel consumption around 20% worse than the Trumpet and all day in the saddle is not as comfortable. All said, I find the Ducati a more refined and better quality machine that induces more smiles per mile. Pricey I know, but you get what you pay for. It's the Ducati for me. Oh, and by the way, it's the best bike I've ever owned.

My V4s Multi is the worst bike I have ever owned. I spent nearly $50,000 AUD and once out of warranty the main computer, ABS unit, front MC went, rear MC went and now has engine surging, $10,000 fix and no love from Ducati Australia

I test rode the Triumph 1200 and rejected it because of the vibration and engine sound. Bought a BMW XR 1000 instead. Very different bike and more refined. These bikes are not cheap and so should not have to accept poor quality or design.

Great review and beautiful bikes. I really love my 2019 Triumph Tiger 1200 XRT and even though its not the new model, I love how it rides. I wish I have the newer model but I actually like the headlight on the older model. and even though it top heavier, its very nimble once you get going and initiating a turn is effortless.

This Matt guy is brilliant 🎉 triples ftw. If you're too tall for adventure bikes mate just get a sportsbike. Something around 675cc.

Compare while riding not just sitting at a bench. Nice to watch videos of riding when you can't.

Both have the Ugliest pipes almost rusted in the front view. Especially the Tiger with triple pipes. Ducati all day long. In the US, I believe the Tiger 900 model is a better seller.

Ridden a few bikes in my time, multistrader is the original adventure bike, a lot of manufacturers have tried to copy it. For me still nothing out there that gets your heart racing like a Ducati multistrader…

And if you want the ultimate ADV Bike you‘ll have to check out the new 1300 GS. I’ve just ridden it after testing the Tiger and the Multistrada and it Blew me away! BMW have done it again. Thanks Guys

I was really excited over the Triumph GT Pro when it came out but all I could think about was the high probability that the impending 1300 was going to blow it out of the water. I mean, what kind of business decision is it to base your new product on, when everyone in and around the industry knew the 1300 was just around the corner, and the fact that it’s BMW’s best selling model by a good margin, anyone could guess the 1300 wasn’t just going to be some styling exercise.
I still like the GT Pro a lot, and do prefer the engine sound over the boxer, but the level of refinement and comfort is hard to beat with any GS model. I’m going to wait at least a year or two before actually picking up a GS though for BMW to hopefully sort through the usual new model bugs.

The Ducati comes with a 4 year unlimited mileage warranty and 9k oil and 36k miles valve service.
The days of Ducati unreliability are long gone now they are owned by Audi.
The Triumph is a 24 months unlimited warranty, with 10k oil service and 20k major.

@@vector409 this is what MCN say about the Panigale.
This year marks five years of the Panigale V4 S and in that time despite having a big cube V4 that revs to the moon and electronics galore it has proved to be completely reliable, as you’ll be able to see if you click on our owners’ review of the ’18 and ’20 models.
